i surprised my little sister coming home from the army she cried on my shoulder,it had been just her,myself and my aunt for a long time. it brought tears to my eyes watching this because some of my friends werent to return home to there families

Being a veteran I can understand EACH reaction on EVERY video. You pray night after night or ask something in whatever faith you believe in and when you know that things in the world can change so fast naturally it would make someone worry and that uncertainty of not knowing your loved one's status or situation just ratchets up the stress level even higher. And when you finally get to see that person you feel so much relief and all the emotion and joy really takes over. I NEVER get tired of these videos.

My boyfriend is in the army reserves but hasn't been deployed yet during our relationship. I know he can get deployed at any given moment when he is needed. Watching videos like these made me realize what is to be expected for when it comes to that point. Everyone has told me prepare to get very emotional.

So I didn't come home from deployment or anything like that. Non-military. My mother is Irish though. They're worse than having a command chain because they're always right, even though they're always wrong. She views any time spent where she can't tell me what to do as a failure on her part. I went home once after moving abroad early in the year to trick her. She won't expect me to come back again for Christmas. No way. She hasn't got a clue. Arrive in Dublin airport, 7am. Quick pint. Bus up to Belfast. Arrive at noon. Have to buy a few presents and meet with a few friends I haven't seen in a while. Hits the bus home. Arrive in the town. Stop. Pint of good Guinness. My sister collects me at the local bar. Mum's sleeping...........She always does. We wonder how we'll spring the surprise. Figure it out. My sister takes my niece down to the house, sneaks into the kitchen and opens the back door. I've left her house, freezing me bollocks off and walked around to the back of the home house. Slowly open the back door, make sure there's no noise. They're all sitting in the living room talking about dinner Christmas Day. My dad's dog notices me first and comes running and jumping. My niece is saying 'Nana, nana,' and pointing. My mum loves talking the leg off people so she doesn't notice for a while. When she does, she looks at me as if I'm a mirage, realises I'm not then shouts 'Oh f%&k' and hits the roof. Best Christmas I've ever had.
Servicemen and servicewomen do a lot for everyone. We forget their families and spouses do so too. Happy times for all.

I cried so hard right now...! A soldier coming home and seeing their loved ones' reaction is incredible and we should all be grateful at the service these soldiers have done for us! They sacrificed so much for our safety and I feel like they deserve more than a simple award!! What they deserve the most is happiness!!!
