Personally I think Zemo should've been the highest ranked MCU villian but I guess no one can deny the cultural impact Thanos has had and that's why you put him. Apart from that this was a surprisingly agreeable list and I completely agree with the top 2 on this list.

Not surprised the Joker had Darth Vader are the top 2. But I’m pleasantly surprised Shooter McGavin made the list! Possibly the most underrated villain ever!
Some people might hate me for saying this but in my opinion Heath Ledger’s Joker should’ve came in first place. I mean every time I hear him say: “Why so serious, son?” it makes me cry tears of joy. But I can see how Darth Vader got first because they’re both very great villains.

Bro Sheev is at LEAST top 20. The way he manipulated the entire Star Wars timeline, and overall his villain vibes should rasulykken bring him to 10th place. Of course this is just my opinion.
I don't understand how Palpatine is so low. He literally played both sides of the clone wars, ruled the empire for 23 years then pulled the strings from behind the scenes during the First Order-Resistance war.
@@shrek_donkey4088 No it's their overall impact on the story and how sinister they are which Palpatine is definitely amazing in both of those and they couldn't have chosen anyone better to play him, Ian McDiarmid just encapsulated him perfectly
They said that no screen adaptation has come close to Sir Anthony Hopkins take on Hannibal Lecter (and I agree he is the best, Anthony Hopkins is amazing) but Mads Mikkelsen did a practically perfect different take on the character in "Hannibal."
Honestly believe Landa deserved top 5. The writing and performance is insane for the character. Hans Gruber got mega shafted on this list too. Easily top 10
They did Palpatine wrong, he was the reason for the fall of the Jedi and Vaders making, an evil genius who fought two different sides of the same war without being suspected, and was the main villain of the Star Wars series. I dont think he should be higher than Vader but #62 is just criminal, he definitely deserves top 10
My top 5 favorite movie villains 1. It/Pennywise the dancing clown Tim Curry and Bill Skarsgard 2. The Joker Jack Nicholson, Health Ledger, and Joaquin Phoenix. 3. The Shredder 2014 and 1990 4. Scar Jeremy Irons and Chiwetel Ejiofor 5. Thanos comic books and movies.
Two highly villainous villains that were overlooked: Alex from A Clockwork Orange and Capt. Harrison Love from The Mask of Zorro. Also, Godzilla is def not a villain.
Ah but Alex is not a villain, he is a anti-hero. In Clockwork Orange the "system" or peoples collective justification on painful rehabilitation is the actual villain.
I know Angel Eyes is in this list but goddamn, they missed out the villian from the 2nd movie of the Dollars Trilogy (El Indio). I mean he's a well written villian, a past that still haunts him but still being a evil bastard here and there. Frank from Once Upon a Time in the West should be here too.

At first I was disappointed that Joker wasn't Number 1 for Heath Ledger's performance alone, but yeah, Darth Vader is an undeniable contender for top spot. Personally I would have Vader as a very close second to the Joker.

While I’m happy for their number one pick I have a couple issues. One, how come Freddy and Michael got a narrative montage but Jason didn’t? Two, how in the hell is Voldemort ranked higher than either Palpatine or Sauron?!
Voldemort is a fantastic villain. I would say all 3 are up there hence why they are on the list. But the only thing that literally couple stop him was the fact harry porter survived. Palpating was destined to fail so due to how the sith runs things. So that knocks him a little in my opinion. Sauron got beat by a human! Then a dam hobbit lol! Love all the villains but I personally look at how deadly and they are. How hard it also is to stop them. So I think the list is fine in that aspect for Voldemort compared to the other two.
@@bucketboysx3129 Sauron almost conquered the entire world twice. The only way for the fellowship and the forces of good to beat him, is to quietly and sneakily outsmart him. If they would attempt to fight him full force and head on, they would be destroyed guaranteed. Voldemort couldn't take over a boarding school. Talk about deadliness. He's a wimp.
I personally think Green Goblin should be on number 20 instead of Doc ock and put Doc ock at 56 because William Dafoe performance was fantastic he was the standout in No Way Home.
Yes, I comment the same thing and I was looking for another Web Head that had the same idea as me. Doc and Goblin are iconic and we’re always tied for me in terms of Spidey’s archenemy, but I think Goblin’s performance in NWH pushed him over the edge on this one

I see Darth Vader on the list and Top 5. Honestly, he is more feared in games, books and comics than movies. The movies never show his true Dark Side and what he can really do.
You have T-1000, an indestructible evil cyborg; followed Anton Chigurh, an unemotional, merciless killer; followed by Annie Wilkes, an unhinged, child-killing uber-fan; followed by Bruce, an unfeeling eating machine of a shark (no pun intended); followed by...Nurse Ratched, a power-hungry nurse with a grudge? While I don't argue that the character is well acted, I really don't feel that she belongs so very high on the list...at the very least, not above the previously mentioned villains.
Michael Myers. I was only 7 when I watched the Original Halloween, and that mask, the music, and the atmosphere (not to mention the fact that I grew up in Plainfield, IL... sounds much like the completely fictional "Haddonfield, IL!!!)... Michael Myers was the first villain, Monster, slasher, etc that truly scared me. And that Mask STILL scares me

Myself a huge fan of film, I was blessed with the fortunate opportunity to meet Dave Prowse, the man who played the physical embodiment of Darth Vader in the suit for the original Lucas films. Dave told me that he would've been just fine with them doing his voice over (George Lucas made him read all of his character's lines in the movie out loud) with that of James Earl Jones, had they informed him of their original intentions from the get-go. Dave told me he had to visit a screening of the first film, Star Wars, at a theater in London in order for him to shockingly find out his voice had been recorded over. He told me that this had only increased his disdain for George Lucas (Dave informed me that George Lucas had been obsessed with Harrison Ford during filming, while in turn Lucas would give the bare minimal response and feedback, if any, to British actors such as Prowse). Dave had detailed that entire scene where audiences discover Darth Vader is in fact Luke's father: he told me they had a ginormous fan blowing in the background, off-camera, in order to create the scene's massive wind effect. The noise from the giant fan actually worked quite effectively in completely drowning out Mark Hamill's voice. As such, Dave had to lip sync and visually look for times when Mark would physically stop moving his mouth as a que for Dave to begin speaking again. Mark had to do the same exact thing, he said, but with considerable difficulty, as Mark could hardly discern when Dave was speaking vs. when he was silent, as direct result of the Vader helmet. Upon attending the screening in theater and finally realizing that the voice of Darth Vader was no longer proprietary to himself, Dave sat back and wondered what had been the point of struggling to speak and lip read while the fan had been on full blast in the background, given that they had intended to redo his character's voice all along. Dave also told me when the illustrators had first brought him preliminary sketches of what was to become the Darth Vader mask during the series' pre-production phase, he thought the mask looked like a giant bug, due to the large black, beady eyes :) R.I.P. Dave Prowse. You ARE the Sith.
I've never seen more than a few clips of Whiplash and I never intend to. Fletcher is exactly like every single band director I ever had in school. I do not need those flashbacks.
997: I had a feeling the Sheriff of Nottingham would be on this list. I only saw a little bit of 1991’s Robin Hood but I grow up with 1970’s Disney Robin Hood
Thulsa Doom - Conan the Barbarian Cardinal Richelieu - 3 Musketeers (Gene Kelly version) T-Rex - Jurassic Park Col Tavington - The Patriot King Longshanks - Braveheart Odd Job - Goldfinger Han - Enter the Dragon Barron Harkonnen - Dune Just a few outliers to consider for the list...
I'm kinda surprised that Dr. Robotnik (Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)) isn't on the list. He went from being a government scientist investigating a blackout to becoming a deranged madman set on universal domination. He was even keen on killing Sonic, Tom, and Maddie. Robotnik was even more evil in the second movie. After being stranded on Mushroom Hill Zone for 8 months, he ends up join forces with (and later backstabbing) Knuckles so he can obtain the Master Emerald to gain ultimate power. He even uses the Emerald's power to create the massive Death Egg Robot just so he can kill Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Tom, Maddie, and G.U.N.. I wonder how evil Robotnik will be in Sonic 3, especially with throwing Shadow into the mix.
More of anti-hero than a villain character I think. I know that there is a argument to be made that he is a villain protagonist but honestly I don't buy it. The narrative of both the movie and the book to place the viewer/reader on Alex's side and symphatize and root for him despite him doing horrible things. It's not like Patrick Bateman in American Psycho wheare there is tension in the murder scenes and the character has no redeeming qualities. I think the narrative in Clockwork Orange is trying to manipulate the audience to Alex's side which disqualifies him as a villain character. If this was a list of 100 most well played evil characters then Alex has many people on this list beat.

@@Mikey-em8hs I mean, agree to disagree. Doc Ock was awesome, and Alfred did a great job, I just think Green Goblin is more memorable, and that Willem have a basically perfect performance. Again, no hate on Doc Ock or Alfred, I just prefer Goblin
Here's my top 5 guess.
5. Anton Chigurh
4. Jack Torrence
3. Hannibal Lecter
2. The Joker
1. Darth Vader
This was like watching a full length movie! Pretty sweet list overall. 🤟
In the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit when Judge Doom reveals himself to be a toon it really scared me as a child. It still creeps me out to this day 😅
same, when his eyes popped out
@@neednewname5918 exactly
Christopher Lloyd is excellent.
I’d probably give Heath for his role as Joker #2.. he played the hell out of that role.. I need to see the rest of these villains 🔥
My first pick would be Palpatine, just his planning itself is worth a spot, without his skills with a lightsaber
Palpatine is more evil, but Vader is a better written villain
@@bigchungus8287 Say what you will about the prequels, they made Vader's character more complex.
He landed at 62
@@nancygonzalezgarcia8701 To quote Darth Vader:"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" He deserved better.

Who's your favorite villain and where do you think they'll rank?
My favourite villain is Darcy from green room, I can 100% guarantee his rank will be not on the list.
Jigsaw from Saw.
My favorite is a tie between Freddy krueger( Robert Englund). The Joker( Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson).
Jason Voorhees
Fletcher not quite my tempo was DOPE AS HELL 🔟
Personally I think Zemo should've been the highest ranked MCU villian but I guess no one can deny the cultural impact Thanos has had and that's why you put him. Apart from that this was a surprisingly agreeable list and I completely agree with the top 2 on this list.
I appreciate that not every villain is being explained, it makes the list go by faster
Hans Gruber, The Predator, The Terminator and Ivan Drago has to AT LEAST be in the top fifteen
Really love the following villains: Saruman, Count Dooku, Francisco Scaramanga, Lord Summerisle and Judge Claude Frollo (disney). They're my all time favourites. All so fun to watch.
Saruman, Dooku, Scaramanga, and Summerisle? You must be a Christopher Lee fan.
King Haggard
I'm SHOCKED that Frollo's not on here
@@tyrellr7818 Definitely. Grew up with him.
@@ThroneMaster035Yeah was hoping he would be. Great villain.

Death only managed to be 73, so this is all tongue in cheek.

I think its how enjoyable they are to watch
@@shrek_donkey4088 No it's their overall impact on the story and how sinister they are which Palpatine is definitely amazing in both of those and they couldn't have chosen anyone better to play him, Ian McDiarmid just encapsulated him perfectly

They said that no screen adaptation has come close to Sir Anthony Hopkins take on Hannibal Lecter (and I agree he is the best, Anthony Hopkins is amazing) but Mads Mikkelsen did a practically perfect different take on the character in "Hannibal."
I think he had a girlfriend or wife that supposedly broke off the relationship because she could get his character out of her mind
I found it comical to be honest.
Honestly believe Landa deserved top 5. The writing and performance is insane for the character. Hans Gruber got mega shafted on this list too. Easily top 10
Ikr!
yes. hans landa was just so terrifying yet calm and collected, his actor was amazing as well
How Palpatine 62???? I’m mean he is the ultimate villain of Star Wars He is minimum in top 20! I mean how Umbridge can be above him???
EXACTLY
They did Palpatine wrong, he was the reason for the fall of the Jedi and Vaders making, an evil genius who fought two different sides of the same war without being suspected, and was the main villain of the Star Wars series. I dont think he should be higher than Vader but #62 is just criminal, he definitely deserves top 10
My top 5 favorite movie villains
1. It/Pennywise the dancing clown Tim Curry and Bill Skarsgard
2. The Joker Jack Nicholson, Health Ledger, and Joaquin Phoenix.
3. The Shredder 2014 and 1990
4. Scar Jeremy Irons and Chiwetel Ejiofor
5. Thanos comic books and movies.
Darth Vader was number one best Movie Villains of all time and one of the most legendary Star Wars Villains ever.
Two highly villainous villains that were overlooked: Alex from A Clockwork Orange and Capt. Harrison Love from The Mask of Zorro. Also, Godzilla is def not a villain.
Colonel Kurtz and Alex not being in this list is bizzare
Godzilla was most definitely a villain in a good amount of his movies
Ah but Alex is not a villain, he is a anti-hero. In Clockwork Orange the "system" or peoples collective justification on painful rehabilitation is the actual villain.
I know Angel Eyes is in this list but goddamn, they missed out the villian from the 2nd movie of the Dollars Trilogy (El Indio). I mean he's a well written villian, a past that still haunts him but still being a evil bastard here and there. Frank from Once Upon a Time in the West should be here too.

Alan Rickman's portrayal of the Sheriff of Nottingham happens to be my favorite.
Are you referring to the "Robin Hood, Prince of Theives" film? Especially, the actor who played the part of a nobel man who was after the lady Marianne?
Palpatine and Green Goblin were too low. I would have liked to see Magneto a bit higher too but overall the list is good and I appreciate the amount of hardwork put into it
my top 3 were: 1st green goblin, 2nd palpatine, 3rd gollum
And Thanos was wayyyy to high
Alan Rickmans sherif was hands down one of the greatest movie villains ever.....he was made to play that role...Hans Gruber and professor Snape.... respect to the man and rip 👍
U forgot Russell Crowe in Unhinged ,Vincent in Collateral& the strangers &Cujo etc.
At first I was disappointed that Joker wasn't Number 1 for Heath Ledger's performance alone, but yeah, Darth Vader is an undeniable contender for top spot. Personally I would have Vader as a very close second to the Joker.
The list is missing Frank from Once upon a Time in the West. Legendary performance by Henry Fonda.
It should be...I think it’s the only performance by Fonda where he played a villain. The man shot a kid. He should be in too 15

While I’m happy for their number one pick I have a couple issues. One, how come Freddy and Michael got a narrative montage but Jason didn’t? Two, how in the hell is Voldemort ranked higher than either Palpatine or Sauron?!

@@Predatorwarrior18 you're kidding right? Even the creators said so lol

Loki deserved a place in the list , sad to not see the wonderful character

Michael Myers. I was only 7 when I watched the Original Halloween, and that mask, the music, and the atmosphere (not to mention the fact that I grew up in Plainfield, IL... sounds much like the completely fictional "Haddonfield, IL!!!)...

@Ian Gordon No
@Ian Gordon They wouldn't say that, although I've not seen all of these films. These are just suggestions that people may agree on.
Dave also told me when the illustrators had first brought him preliminary sketches of what was to become the Darth Vader mask during the series' pre-production phase, he thought the mask looked like a giant bug, due to the large black, beady eyes :)
R.I.P. Dave Prowse. You ARE the Sith.
RIP but James Earl Jones definitely rocked the voice. It is iconic for a reason.
I've always thought that the late, great Margaret Hamilton should have been at least nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of the Wicked Witch.
I was gonna go with Vader number 2 and heath ledgers joker number 1 but still I love this list it was great ❤

The "first" - Raimi Green Goblin is a beast !!
Thulsa Doom - Conan the Barbarian
Cardinal Richelieu - 3 Musketeers (Gene Kelly version)
T-Rex - Jurassic Park
Col Tavington - The Patriot
King Longshanks - Braveheart
Odd Job - Goldfinger

Barron Harkonnen - Dune
Just a few outliers to consider for the list...
The T-Rex was not a villain though. In fact, none of the dinosaurs were the villains.
A really good listing of movie villains. Best of the best baddies that made for epic, riveting and memorable cinema.
Well that’s depends if he survives the fall
honestly I forgot about him lol, he was actually pretty good
How has Malcolm McDowell's portrayal of Alex in A Clockwork Orange not made this list!?
I know, right?
