This is exactly what happened to me when I asked for a V cut!!! Since then I've been cutting my own hair too and it's turned out so much better than when I got it done at the salon. Preach girl!

I cut my hair according to your instructions, second year in a row. My hair also grows super fast, so i have no fear cutting my own hair. Last year i cut close to 14 inches, this year 8 inches. That's pretty much how long it got since the last cut. I'm certain i will be watching again next year because i love how easy it is. Thanks for great tutorial LynSire!!!

I have never cut my hair before today and I suddenly got sick of waiting to get into my hairdresser and went for it. I followed your tutorial and was super happy with the results. I had a couple hiccups on the way, but I managed to get it fairly even. And the best part, I actually got the desired length I wanted!!! Yay!!!

I was going to say the exact same thing... I'm really curious to know how it looks in the back, thats actually what I'm worried about more than anything. Cutting it myself and it turning out a chip choppy mess in the back.
My hair is a total mess because of this video. If she would've showed us the back, we wouldn't have done it. Its horrible :(

The hair at the back is definitely going to be a lot shorter than the front if you use this technique.

I just did it. the front part is ok but this technique totally fucked up the back part. that's probably why she doesn't show us the back part. thankfully I wear hijab so it doesn't really matter.
I've been cutting my own hair for years and it's been fine but I just tried this technique for the first time and boy I think I wanna keep wearing my hijab in the shower.
if you curl your hair it will probs kinda help to hide the choppy back.
Same. I tried to do it her way but my back came out in all different sizes and very choppy. Luckily, I also wear a hijab so I'm just waiting out until I can get to a salon to fix this monstrosity.

I love this tutorial! My mom has been cutting my hair but for the past two years, I have cut my own. All you need is professional scissors and hair tyes. I am an Esthetician and was able to get Fromm shears from a beauty supply store for fifty dollars.

if your gonna cut your own hair by all means do it but I would be weary of this. I'm 99% sure she fucked up the back...that's why she was very careful to quickly jumpcut from the back view when it was about to show, and at the beginning she blurred the back view of the after but not the before? it looks good from the front but your gonna end up with short, choppy back due to cutting it all like that in a ponytail. clearly she wasn't able to fix it to her liking or she wouldn't have purposely blurred out the back like that :/

You're absolutely right ! I noticed it after your comment. Actually if you look carefully at the blurry part you'll see that the back is too short and doesn't look good .

It depends on your hair texture. In my case I did have to straightened it.
So I did this to my hair today and it came out wonderful! Only thing was the back was really tricky so it took a lot of extra time trying to make it look as professional cut as possible. still love my new hair just totally would have helped if you would have shown how the back of your hair came out!! (:

Tried this after I went to the salon and they bleached my hair to shreds. It's my usual hairstyle and the tips in the tutorial worked wonderfully! Saves me $75+ every few months and people keep complimenting my cut!

The last step was just feathering the ends of your hair a bit so that the cuts didn't look super sharp. Just to make it fall more naturally.

I'm so excited to try this! I've been cutting my own hair for over 10yrs cause of the length, I was told at least 150. Haha no thanks. I figured it out myself but I usually do long layers but I'm ready for a change and scared at the same time cause its down to my butt but I'm about to start transitioning to my natural grey😱 lol so I figured, I'd top it off with a cute cut like this❤️. The trick here is to tie the ponytail a little above the neck is it? I noticed when you released the elastics, the lob took it shape already. It was just a little cleaning up in the end.
