Thanks!
I think the reflections are just the right tone that do justice to the woodland and the tone that you pitched the distant trees couldn't be truer. A scene overall peaceful in the prevailing light and atmosphere. Thank you!
I love your videos and the volume is loud enough that I don't have to strain to hear your comments , which are so very helpful.
This is a beautiful composition you came up with with all your walking and hunting.
I love the way that painting came out!
Congratulations on upload 500! I loved this one! The trees reflected turned out so good. There’s something about a willow overhanging a lake that I could gaze at all day.
Thanks!!
Thank you for the 500 videos that nursed me through my frozen shoulder! Love your work! I am pretty sure I've watched them all.
Thanks, Sally! I hope you're fully recovered and back to painting 😊
From coastal scenes to little inland discoveries. A joy to watch 👍👍👍
I live in the deep woods of East Texas where there is sooo much green! I enjoyed a video from you where you tackled a lot of green. Great job!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed this one
Always love your videos! And thank you SO MUCH for showing how you loaded your brush and added the paint to the panel. SO HELPFUL!! Much appreciated!!
Thanks, Michael!
A beautiful painting for your 500th upload Michael! Amazed at how you created something so good despite the dull, overcast day.
Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Oliver.
Thanks Oliver!
Fabulous reflections, enjoyed this , thank you
Congrats on 500 uploads! Love this location.
Thanks, Amy! I plan to paint there more often.
Great demo on brushstrokes application on 10:36. I've learned so much in this very short demo.
Congratulations on 500 videos! I’ve learned so much from watching you and having you explain things step-by-step. Here’s to 500 more!
Congrats on 500! 🎉 Love the depth. You brought the gray day to life!
Thanks, Tad! Not far from where your place!
500 videos…..great accomplishment……looking forward to viewing the next 500……congratulations!
Thanks!
I love to paint reflections on water in my landscapes. Thanks for the tip of keeping the reflection more transparent. I'll be useing that in my next painting!
Yes, give it a try 😊👍
I sure will!😀
awesome. I love painting at stow lake
Thanks for explain how to paint wet over wet Michael , to the beginners like me is very useful. Beautiful place, beautiful paint as well.
Thanks, Juan Carlos. Glad you found this helpful!
Brilliant work Mike , this is just the kind of scene I paint in the uk
Congratulations on your 500th vid! Wonderful painting, and thank you for the great tips and details re: color mixes for your greens, as well as application! Always helpful to see your palette in process!
Congratulations on 500 ! I loved the reflections , thanks for pro tips too !
Congratulations on 500, Michael! Quite an achievement and all your videos are so informative - many gems to be had! Thank you for all you do!
Thanks, Shawn!
Wow! I really enjoyed this video and your painting!
Thanks, Sophie! 😊
Another great location and painting. I really want to go there and paint that stone bridge. Maybe next time I'm in SF. Congrats on the 500 Michael. Looking forward to the next 500. Thanks again for a great video.
500!wow!Thankyou for sharing.
😊
What a beautiful painting. Congrats on 500 uploads!! 👍🏼
Funnily enough I was just thinking please don’t cover those vertical reflections as I thought they looked very watery and effective so I’m very happy you didn’t. I just loved this one. Those cypress trees looked great and the perspective was brilliant!
Thanks! I learned the lesson regarding the vertical reflections while editing a previous video. I was painting at Pescadero and I covered the vertical strokes with thicker paint and partially lost the reflection effect. I didn't even realize it until editing later!
Congratulations on your 500th upload. That’s a lot. Another great painting. The color has the feel of the early California impressionists like Edgar Payne. 👍
Thanks, Andrew!
500, incredible!! Huge congrats!
Gratz on 500! Thank you for taking us along :)
Thanks, Jonathan!
I really like this painting!! Nice sense of depth and wonderful reflections.. Congrats on 500!!!
Thanks, Sophie!
Stowe Lake... Golden Gate Park... my first baby pictures were here. You know, the California places you paint span the whole seven decades of my life. You did it justice here, reaching into the peaceful distance.
Thinking about painting light on an overcast landscape: Herb Caen said San Francisco was like living inside a great grey pearl. Our eyes adjust to the ambient light, so the sky is all-the-way bright and surfaces exposed to it can look rich and saturated.
Please, feel free to take down my comments if they are distracting or presumptuous.
Looking forward to your next 500! Terrific site, videos, and paintings.
Thanks, Diane! When I first started I set a goal of 1000, but honestly I don't see myself ever stopping. I really enjoy making videos.
Nice transparency, quiet atmosphere, love the scene...remind me of Monet in is garden. Thanks for sharing. Your sunday video is always a relaxing moment.
Great tip on keeping the water reflections transparent. I'll keep that one in mind for sure.
😊👍
Thanks for bringing the serenity along with masterful Plein air painting. I’d love to see how you’d handle the bridge scene, although I understand why you didn’t set up there. Do you paint from photos?
Congrats on 500 videos! And gorgeous painting as usual.
Thanks! 😊
Reflections on a lake
Awed to watch this take shape
Accent the difference, sides don’t mirror
A loaded brush keeps colors clearer
Interesting shapes and a pile o’ paint
Convincing reflections, wonders await
500 videos, that is quite a feat
Without Patreon, we’re incomplete

I enjoyed seeing you choose your location. It is such an honor watching you paint and create. This looked fantastic even at the rough-in stage so I knew it would be beautiful. The reflections are amazing. Thanks for sharing! Peace and love..Suz What ☮️💚
Thanks, Suz! 😊✌️💛
Suz , nice, “ interesting shapes and a pile of paint” , I like that, also you knew he was really going to produce a beautiful painting, from earlier in, , for me it’s at 4:57 right before he starts with the darker shades, there are many images , and, of course the final , it is beautiful 😌
@@markparkey1218 I agree. ⭐️
I found your channel a week ago and honestly I'm inlove with the content and your paintings😭✨💖
😊
Mike I notice you scrub a lot with skies and water rather than smoothing or feathering a blend for a more smooth look.
Is this to create more perspective or more interesting tonal changes?
A Beautiful painting to mark your 500th upload!! ….. Love it, love it!!
Thanks! 😊
I love every painting you do I'm going to try to recreate some of them. xx
your never fail to completely encapsulate me within them whenever i decide to watch. its like a brain massage! ❤️❤️
😊💛
Love your work keep it up!!
Thanks!
500 times congrats , 500 times i watch your great videos thnx
Thanks!
They only get better
Thanks!
Absolutely loving it
Reflection and fog , poetic.
😊
Love your videos! You inspired me to start taking my watercolor kit out for some plein air for the first time (I'm sticking to discretely painting trees for the time being.. baby steps :P ). I live in the Sunset! Your videos have also given me some new appreciation for home and the Bay Area.
Congrats on 500!
Thanks, Claire! Oh good! So glad you find my videos inspiring. Lots to paint in the sunset.
Michael, seeing you say “” number 500 “” after your presentation of the final, “” masterfully created, an elaborate beauty, love the way you left hints of differing color on either side, furthest trees are a pleasing hue at distance, best I love the most, “”reflections on either of the sky lit waters center, the reflections, they are different , seem to pass through, deep, to the bottom, I really love the “ just right detail” of the reflections, thank you for taking us there Michael, it was a good day. 😊
You expressed this perfectly, Mark.
@@SuzWhat -( SUZ, just seen this thank you, , I am honored, , ( I struggle with typing in excess, I want you to know that), I looked several times, there is “” so much “” on the images, , that I did not mention , yes michael painted a really good one 🙂😉😌)-
Congratulations on 500!!!
Thanks!
Lovely painting Michael and congratulations on reaching that milestone of 500 videos. You’re a prolific painter and RUclipsr.
Thanks, Frank!
Congratulations on #500! They've been great!
Once again loving the background conversation, even if a lot of it isn't understandable. Fills in dead spaces. When you finished the block-in with the dark greens I said to myself that it was going to be a really good painting and it turned out even better than I though it would. Really appreciate your comments on wet-on-wet painting. They were very helpful. Thanks!
Thanks, Michael! As you know, painting greens can be a challenge. Glad you like the finished product. I look forward to painting this location again!
Great painting and congrats on 500!
Thanks, Mary Kay!
Congratulations on hitting 500
Thanks!
Congrats on your 500th video! Picked up some great tips from this video, thanks. Of course, nice painting as always. 👍
Congratulations 🥳 500 videos!
Thanks!
Hi! Lovely artwork 🖤
I just wanted to ask if you ever get neck pain from switching your head between the painting and the panoramic..
Also, how do you deal with that??
When possible it’s helpful to have your subject next to your painting. It helps reduce neck strain and makes it easier to judge proportions. But sometimes it is not always possible.
Beautiful vlog, sir! Fantastic painting! I really love it. You did paint that water perfectly! The reflection is so amazing. Awesome effect! Nice masterpiece! Have a good one! Btw. Congrats on 500!
Thanks, Olda!
What size is this panel? Also, how do you get your wet paintings home? Especially when you work large. I enjoy your videos. Congratulations on 500.
Amazing as usually learned alot from this video!
Great painting.
Thanks!
Well done, sir.
Thanks!
Congratulations on video 500
Thanks!
500 uploads, I've commented in like 450 😅...what can I say, Im very social. That park looks beautiful, painting nature without sunlight is challenging for sure. I liked the spot with the little bridge but setting up on mud is not very convenient.
Haha, that's true! You may have commented on all 500. I appreciate it. I've painted that bridge before, but I had to do it from a photo.
Actually I don't comment on everything because I want to let room to others 😂😂
@@martingimenez339 😂
Why alla prima needs 2 layers? And why the first layer want to keep wet when painting second layer above them?
what would is this drawing or painting style is this? is this fauvism?
Fauvism is typically characterized by bright, saturated colors. This is a little closer to Impressionism.
@@GalleryBry thank youuu for the reply so much!!!
@@mylesjohnson862 You’re quite welcome. :) Hope you are having a great day!!
Michael, 7:13 , you say “ rough in”, freezing at this point, looking at a magical mythical dreamlike state, , also you at 4:57 , before you added these darks , as mentioned, paraphrasing -->
Very beautiful upload, amazing location 💖
Thanks!
Love the looseness you use. What is the wood in the panels you use? All the best from the UK 👍
Thanks, Jack. Glad you like! I use hardboard panels made from whiteboard: ruclips.net/video/KW1sYp5VhB0/видео.html
This is such an accomplished video and painting. Truly the master. I am inspired, humbled and thoroughly enjoyed every second of this thank you.
It is really cool to watch this painting come together so beautifully. The reflections also work so well and seeing your palette work is helpful. Thank you.
Congratulations on No. 500!
500 videos! Congratulations Mike, I am a patreon and folow your journeys, keep up the great work mate. Bert in Oz
Congratulations on the milestone! It's not about the numbers, but still... :-)
Thanks, Kristian!
Hey Mike can you make longer video with a vlog next time
The virtual-real relationship in this painting seems to be poorly handled.
