Wubby is such a fresh wave in the MTG content creator space, he isn't relied on WotC's approval so he can be genuine and not tip toeing around his speech or being afraid of saying the wrong thing or being the wrong way, excited for everything that comes. That Lightning Bolt was fucking sweet.
When I got into MTG in 2016, the culture was so cringy. Guys like Wedge from the Mana Source were the norms. Just weird and hyper geeky guys. I think Rudy is what started to make MTG cool.
Lol wizards would never reach out as much as i would like someone like the professor who loves wizards barely gets any recognition and someone like wubby who says any type of slurs would probably never get sponsored.
I am happy wubby is an MTG advocate, the community has some not positive influencers and its kinda rare to have someone just in it with positive vibes and paying back to the community, hopefully I get a chance to run into the crew or better yet, rip a game at magiccon chicago!
I know this has probably been said a million times, but it's still true. I don't know much about Magic, I've never played the game. I just appreciate the passion and respect that Wubby has for the game. The videos are fun and entertaining. If they can keep my attention, especially since I know next to nothing about the game. Then you're doing something right.
Yes Wubby is entertaining, but Ry's editing is so fucking good that it almost feels like completely different content than when I watched this live. Inshallah we crack another deck and pull a power 9
whats always interested me is the fact your dad did that and genuinely thought of safe keeping them. when i used to buy magic, it was only when i knew i wanted to open what i bought to use it. you should keep it in case you have kids so you can open the boxes and packs with them, think how cool that would be, and im sure your dad would be very proud.
i remember opening stuff with him as a kid and the joy it brought me and my mom is saying he had bought 10 packs of them as he was super into DND games too and wanted to try something else @@Reformed322
@@Reformed322 that would be the most irresponsible thing to do with them. Open boxes, lose ALL the money your father was kind enough to use forethought to save.. as a child I would be pissed that my parent didn't understand basic economics vs gambling
Ohhh man. My friends and I would buy packs of these, mash them together and just play. If only I could go back and yell at my 15 year old self to calm the hell down, keep some fresh and leave them in a box….😂
@@elihughes9317 If you gave your kids boxes of collectible cards and expected them to never be opened you're not very smart anyway. They're cards. Calm down. As a parent, I'd be happy to be creating memories with my kids even after I passed.
I have no interest in MTG, I don't collect or play, but I am subscribed to WMM because of how enjoyable the pack openings are. I'm stressed out for Wubby and the buyers and am always excited to see what cards are pulled. Thanks for doing these pulls, I look forward to them weekly!
I can not tell you how envious I am of you being able to open this. You definitely deserve it. I had to skip ahead to know 100% it was real this time I’m so excited to watch this full vid.
I have to say I don't really understand it but I love the enthusiasm Wubby brings to these kind of videos and I might have to look at my parents' attic boxes again in case they haven't thrown my old Magic cards away :)
Adult me right now wants to strangle middle school me just thinking about how many of these i opened back then when you could just pick them up at target, probably opened 5 or 6 of these and easily a couple boxes of boosters, of course at the time starters were like $8 and boosters were $2.50, and of course not kbowing these cards were ever going to have real value in the future i made some absolutely bonehead trades, like the mox pearl i ended up trading for some junk uncommons because i only played red, green and black decks 😂
Long time coming, and no doubt a headache and a half. Much deserved, hype repayment for those that bought in early, and good shit from Ancestral and CGC. Haven't watched all of it, so best of luck!
If you're going to spend $35K on a stack of cardboard you're not going to read the fine print? If you're a smaller business you're not going to protect yourself against return scammers? If you don't like the rules don't buy from them, and if you can't read the rules before dropping thousands of $s then shame on you.
@@tissuepaperbandit It's less about the fine print and more about the fact that Card Kingdom was selling a fake in the first place. They're one of the three biggest Magic retailers there is - any fake getting sold by them is an abject failure that shows a massive flaw in whatever they have going on.
I watch these videos knowing i played with some of these cards in 1998 on a wooden bench outside. Now they are worth so much. I was a big prevent deal damage instant affect deck. Was fun to play in groups. You could snipe creatures at will.
Would love to see a series where viewers could send in their deck lists via Moxfield or something and have the boys rate them in some sort of podcast type format. Getting my deck concepts bashed and praised and new ideas to change or improve the decks is always a good time.
Unfortunately, they'll likely be 8s (at least the uncommon/rares). The centering was *really* bad. The hype thing is, whomever gets these shouldn't care -- it was about being part of the moment.
Wub should do more, so many vintage openings that it seriously dents the sealed market. Fish out all the scams and make people lose faith in the position of sealed while opening the good.
I feel you when you say you dont feel comfortable touching other people's cards 😂 my friend has like 10 legacy decks and treats them like dirty rags but everytime i touch them i get paranoid cuz i know my hand is worth more than my bank account lmao
We used to get shafted when these were their original price and now people are buying them for $35k. Insane. I mean, they were starter decks. They were crap by design.
I havent played magic in years. I tell myself I will get back in at some point but never do. Biggest regret is getting rid of my cards from the 90s. But when I did in like 2002 I had no idea they'd become so valuable. Anyways even though I havent played in forever I still love these videos. I really want Wubby to be the one to pull the black lotus.
Dude your audio and everything is on point. I am in grad school and when doing presentations I started paying attention to videography and audio much more. Do you have affiliate links on what gear you use( or can you tell me what you use if no links )? I was watching your video just from the presentation perspective. Also do you source out your editing or what editor do you use? Great content man. You'll hit 100k by year end.
I just can't help but think, no matter what, either these cards were all replaced or since Beta was mappable they knew it would not contain anything of value. These Beta Starters came in bricks, so unless you had an entire brick, you're always going to lose. This stuff is too valuable and has passed through so many hands there's no way to know. You need true provenance from someone you trust. Card Kingdom should be investigated! Until you break something of real value off these, I'm a skeptic, not in you, but the secondary market on "vintage" magic
He did not sleeve it wrong, you do an upsidedown sleeve with a perfect fit, upsidedown penny sleeve in a toploader can make the card slide out, a friend of mine damaged one of his cards like that. nm to gouge damaged in a moment.
@ry can we get the prices on screen a little longer? I can't speak for others but this is usually my perfect "second monitor" types of videos so I miss every price flash. Appreciate any consideration
I haven't seen many alpha or beta opens so I don't know usual numbers buuuuut this seems super land filled. But again maybe the land to other ratio was high in that era.
you always have to consider what those packs were made for. These were pretty much starter pack so they had to put a few lands in there so people that bought like a few packs and this could even play a match.
I really hope when CGC grades that Phantasmal Terrain and they put the pedigree sticker on the back that it reads: "Wubby Stream Beta Box Break - Card #h"
I don't like using permanent marker because of the tendency for it to come off and get on things when wet. Maybe pre writing on the sleeves so it's dry if you do this again.
New Commander Game coming THIS WEEK 😏
Carlos plz Bring the Rats again!!!! 🧀🧀
Don't board wipe this time.

In case anyone was wondering: $3886.63. Cost? $35000. Net loss: -$31,113.37. O O F.
that is a heartbreaking figure
Thankfully that would only be if he kept the cards instead of selling spots. Insane to think of how much loss there would be though.
Is the $3886 figure only ungraded tho? Grading a card at a 9 or 10 can bridge that gap a little
Now it doesnt feel that bad about my losses from regular collector boxes.
So it really is only a loss to people who got a card that is worth less than 583.33$
that is if they were all spots were split equally divided by 60
I've never been able to notice bad centering before but those uncommons were ABSOLUTELY BONKERS
They really were. There's bad, then there's horrible, then there's these uncommons.
It looked like some of these cards only had borders on 3 sides

I’m only a tiny bit upset he didn’t acknowledge the fact that he opened a goblin king. Congrats on the break! Love the MtG content!
But he did acknowledge it?

Congrats on 70k subs dude!
Just saw it update lol.
I hope this interaction doesn't lead to any kind of fallout between us. Fallout New Vegas.
I was watching this live but got sick and missed over half of the stream. Thank god it’s been uploaded now
I'm just watching this whole saga now. Just got here from the CardKingdom fake. You deserve Power 9 more than any other creator in this space.
I absolutely LIVE for this type of wubby content, I hope he does this so much more often

Loved watching this live and loved the editing on the video, keep it up, it means a lot to bring MTG to more people.
Keep them coming! This was soooo much fun to watch!! The suspense was killing me.

That was a fun watch, thanks everyone involved

I was opening these as a kid and I can tell you this... 99% of the decks you opened went EXACLY like this.
Hey, Giant Spider was a good card back in the day!
The prices need to stay on screen a bit longer, maybe a tallied total on bottom would be nice.
