I think the fuel efficiency depends on rpm and the rpm goes down when you put the gear in N. And the gear does not go to R or P unless you don't push the button on the gear leaver.
Yes. The lower the RPM the lower the cranlshaft revolutins meaning it needs less fuel to lubricate and make the car go faster. Meanwhile in higher RPMs the crankshaft is revolutionizing more so it needs more fuel to lubricate and provide the power to the wheels.
One important information you missed completely Once you need to park the car, shift the gear from D to N, apply hand brake and then shift to P, this would ensure that stopping load is on brakes and not on gear lock .. May be you are not aware of this 😊

its not just automatic transmission, this particular transmission of Honda Civic is CVT, which do not have fixed no of gears, or you may call it infinite no of gears. some other auto transmissions are follow: 1. conventional automatic transmission 2. CVT ( continuously variable Transmission ) 3. DCT ( Dual clutch transmission ) 4. DSG ( Direct shift gearbox ) 5. Triprotic transmission .
D1, D2, D3 are lower gears. They are used when you are driving on a hill. D3 is 3rd gear, D2 is 2nd gear, D1 is 1st. In some cars it is also L or L1, L2. The lower gear better off road and driving in an ascend amd descend experience but it uses more fuel, and if it is not used properly it can probably damage enginge or transmission (not sure).
Can you please make a video on precautions to take while using DCT? It is an important issue since a lot of people in Pakistan faced problems with the transmission of Honda Vezel.
And also the mode S actually locks your transmission upto certain speed only. Lets assume its like 2nd gear. You push the accelerator in S and car’s speed will remain under certain speed only. It will not increase further and RPMs will stay high too. Hence you can only shift from D to S & S to D at slow speeds only, say upto 40 km/h speed only. Don’t shift it into S when speed is over 40. Otherwise behavior of the RPM’s will be self-explanatory. Haven’t you ever noticed that why it immediately increase the RPMs when you shift the Car from D to S over 40 speeds?

During stoppages on signals putting GEAR lever at NEUTRAL" N" & applying e-brakes or hand brakes lifts off pressure from brake pads n reduces wear n tear of brake pads n also keeps ABS in shipshape condition... Keeping GEAR lever in " D" AT signals continues to exert force/ torque which is neutralized with braking, in turn it generate heat within brakes gradually demaging/ degrading the brakes/ pads.... However, bringing back to D mode one must put foot on brakes MEANS COMPLETE halt, even if car is in HAND BRAKE mode to smoothly transfer power to wheels......
@@shershahkhanvlogs3395 ABS only activates if car is moving and the driver applies heavy breaks. When car is stationary ABS doesn't activate in my opinion. I searched on google and wikipedia and it said that if the car is below 25km/h the abs is disabled. If you're driving over 25km/h then the abs would work.

You are wrong about turbine being stopped in N mode. Actually the turbine will be spinning with very slight rotation in stator. In N mode the forward and reverse clutch packs are disengaged. At traffic red light it is preferable to press down foot brake in D mode without shifting to N this way the forward clutch pack is not disengaged and turbine is stationary. Simply lift off the foot from brake and turbine will start rotating. So no wear and tear of forward clutch pack.

"D" and "S" are the same gears, the car just adjust gear ratios to when the car shifts gear. It is perfectly safe to shift from "D" to "S" a any speed.

Totally agree. You should also engage parking break first before throwing the gear lever into 1st gear in manual transmission car while parking.

What about in prius. It is advised that while on a stop light, the driver should press the parking button. Is this correct?!
