Where is this river . I used cheese paste in the Ribble for many a good days chub fishing back in the 80s . I love chub fishing but its not a thing over here in Ireland. I was born in Lanchaire and the Chub fishing was great fun. 👍👍👍👍

Hi Alan. Hat off to you as usual going out in that weather, it was always going to be a hard slog. Great that your views are on the up as well. Hopefully now that the rain has finally stopped, you may get some better luck with less colour and flow in the water.

Hi Mitch,Thanks mate it was a bit of a struggle I seem to find it harder to catch when the water is on the coloured side i still enjoy it though I'm hopefully out again either next week or week after I hope your fishing is going well.

A good thing to do with your paste is add peanut oil keeps it a little more soft and i keep my cheese for at least a year wrapped in cloth and its fantasic stuff . I have cought roach and barble on it. Its an underated bait and thats for sure . I won many a match with ice on the water using this bait .I dont use bread in my mix as it goes off unlike the cheese it just get smelly lol I have even had Dace on it .

Hi Alan, I have the same rod, works well on smaller rivers and streams.

Hi Paul, Yes I love using this rod it's perfect for this type of fishing in tight swims I use the Omni match rod for float fishing and the Omni feeder rod for link leger or feeder and not expensive either

Hi Alan, that seems a pretty quick run through, i think you might have done better with a longer hook length.
    You look absolutely freezing 🥶

Hi Alan, brave man venturing out in this weather especially on a bike. Regarding the film quality personally I prefer the old camera.

Hi Steve, I agree I'll stick with the old one it does the job and it's simple to use, yes it was bleak even worse when you don't catch I'm going to wait for the main river to drop in my next one.

Alan, you put the effort in but the main problem you have is trying to fish tight overgrown swims without spooking any chub which may be there.
The film and sound quality of your videos is good on both cameras so no need to change.
One thing which puzzles me is why take a full loaf of bread with you when 4/6 slices should be adequate even when using a new piece on every cast which is what I do?

Hi Graham, the majority of the swims on these streams that I fish are tight and secluded with maybe the exception of one or two. Tricky thing is when I'm filming it's not easy to balance keeping quiet for the fish with talking for the camera. Its a catch 22 situation really obviously with Chub fishing they are easily spooked but at the same time I've had them as you have seen in tight swims and when I'm talking as on the Chess Stream. I guess one way around it would be to say what I have to say aside and try to keep quiet while fishing. You are right in what you say the swims are so tight that I'm probably only fishing a few feet in front of me in many areas. With taking a full loaf of bread I always think what would I do if I ran out I know it's rare to use more than six slices but I tend to lean on the side of caution just in case,if i was having a session where i was getting a lot of action loads of bites etc and found i was using up a fair bit of bread and suddenly i find im down to my last slice i'd be gutted but i can see what you you mean it's peace of mind really i just feel more comfortable having too much rather than possibly not having enough. Thanks for the feedback, Graham, I hope you enjoyed the video!

Audio on the first camera seemed "muffled" possibly even over driven by your voice and certainly seems to need wind "baffling". still early days play with the settings!
I think the only issue with the old camera is definition at medium and longer distance, i'm sure others a better qualified to advise on this issue.
Ok fishing........are you pre baiting i.e. walk to the last swim and baiting up as you go, have a cuppa then fish back the way you came ?
Play around with hook lengths, also try crust tethered on a very short link 2" (very traditional), fish may not move far to intercept if its very cold. Again don't forget the flow is much slower on the bottom. Knocks/ movements of the tip may be caused by current, wind, leaves, other debris, old weed beds or little fish pecking at the flake. A Chub may just engulf the bait and give you a huge pull round.
"Say what you will the countryside is still the only place that i can settle down. Troubles there are so much rarer .....Out of Town"
    Hurrah!

Hi Ray, The first camera I used is waterproof so I can leave it out if it rains but the downside is as you say the audio sounds muffled this is because of it's waterproof casing which I find unbelievable as the audio is very important on a video. There is an external mic you can buy for this camera which does improve the sound but the lead is very short so attached to my lapel would be totally useless because when I stand up to play a fish etc it would pull the camera tripod over so I think I'll stick to my original camera that I always use it's okay though sometimes the video quality is up and down in certain lights it can go out of focus especially when I hold the camera and walk round with it. I pre baited the swims before I fished them it was bitterly cold though Ray I'm waiting to get back on the main river again hopefully in a couple of weeks time it's still in the fields down here.

Good point there are quite a few attachments that come with the camera it might be worth giving that a go I'll look into it
