They were challenging conditions for chub Alan. Low clear water gives the fish every opportunity to spot your movement on the bank. That perch swim did look very 'perchy'. They like deeper holes and I think the fallen tree was also a factor in attracting them to that spot. Well done for covering 16 swims! We all like one last cast, don't we.
@@BobGoesFishing Hi Bob, Yes and because we video our sessions it's difficult to keep our voices down which doesn't help. Not ideal conditions for Chub as you said low and clear but I was very happy to catch those Perch, I'm thinking once we get some more rain that particular swim I had the Perch from literally right up against the fallen tree where it's also deeper could be ideal for Chub later on in the year.👍
@@intercity735 videoing does create a few challenges. Besides keeping your voice down, setting up the camera can be an issue and, when roving, this involves doing it multiple times. It's particularly challenging on uneven banks which tend to be the order of the day on streams. As you know I've opted for a body mounted camera, which makes life a lot easier, but the video then lacks the very personal touch that you provide by being in frame most of the time.
@@BobGoesFishing Yes I think there's pros and cons to both methods I really like the way you do your videos with the body mounted camera it's like we are seeing what happens through your eyes.👍
Absolutely love these videos Alan, looked very challenging, I was cringing a little thinking what you would do if you latched onto a 3lb chub near that tree! Nice perch, and you kept dry which is a bonus...catch you next time buddy..tight lines..
Another good show mate ,I would had given the low water clear swims a miss. I love fishing a link ledger ,I winkled 2 chub out of the River Rother 7th Nov, both over 3 1b on flavoured meat ,nobody else caught, The fish had congregated under a sunken tree, I picked a lucky spot. I would be happy with a few perch ,rather than blank , also I have a river app for my phone so I can check water levels before I leave home. Great Stuff though mate.
@@bucko321 Well done mate for catching those 2 Chub I always think 1 in a session is good but 2 is extremely good. Yes I thought I'd give it a try in all the swims as you never quite know I did ask on a Chub Facebook page if other anglers thought it was worth fishing a swim where you could see the bread flake on the bottom and most of them said yes but it was quite clear and low which obviously reduces your chances, Chub over 3lb there really nice fish👍
Enjoyed your video greatly, Alan! I'm a small stream obsessive myself, too! I usually float fish though, as it helps with gauging the depth, certainly when there's colour, which I find best when I'm fishing them. Good little perch hole you found. Better luck next time with the chub - as you say it's often last light when you get the bite when the waters low and clear. I'm up in Lancashire so most of our streams are a bit more rocky and wild, but we have a few lowland pasture streams like this, too. Good luck with the channel, I've subbed. Unfortunately, mines stalled a bit after 1k subs but I'm spending less time on content for it anyway, it can take over😂 Take care 👍
@@soultrader57fishingandmusi25 Thanks mate, I'll look out for your channel if you could tell me the name of it then I will subscribe look forward to watching your videos. Hi Alan, I'm a big fan of 8 foot Telescopic rods. "LEEDA" do a nice one £18, I've two of those. I also have a "SENSORFLEX" one, which I've Let In a 2oz, fully ringed, plug in Quiver tip (a short length of Silicon tubing holds it nice and tight, having sawn off the end ring) All collapses in fully set up, hook in the handle & ready for home 🏡 🚴 The Quiver tip also Unplugs and folds round. I've had some proper Lumps out with them I have all the usual Long rods as well.
