elvicare35 he sure did! He would pull pranks on his band members literally *all the time!* One almost got someone killed though. Elvis once told JD Sumner and his Stamps that there was a disgruntled husband or boyfriend that didn’t like how his woman acted because of Elvis and was going to do him in (this is entirely far fetched since not a whole buncha dudes liked the Elvis, the OG Mr. Steal Ya Girl and had empty threats about it before.) Elvis asked them while they were performing to keep on eye on the crowd and look for anything suspicious. JD and the Stamps all took it seriously and the show went perfectly. Afterwards, Elvis and the Stamps were in his room and two of Elvis’s bodyguards came in with masks and started shooting pistol blanks at Elvis. Everyone jumped behind the furniture and J.D. took Elvis to the ground and shielded him with his own body and thought Elvis was trembling because he was so scared but realized he was laughing. It was a hilarious prank but they didn’t know one of them had a loaded pistol on the counter just a few feet away and it could’ve gone a bit different. But Elvis would do just about anything for a good prank and a great laugh.
james w thanks, read it in Richard Sterban’s book, Elvis To Elvira. Phenomenal book and it covers Richard’s signing career from the Keystone Quartet to singing with J.D. Sumner & The Stamps and when they sang for Elvis and also when he left to join the Oak Ridge Boys. Lots of great history about bass singing, Elvis and of course, the Oaks.
Absolutely. Johnny wasn't given the credit he deserved. He helped lay the groundwork for a variety of genres. Cash paved the way for rock, punk, and alternative as well as continue the legacy of blues and gospel.

It is to be said that Johnny gave alot of performance advice to Elvis when they toured together. I believe that is why his impersonation is so spot on. They are both amazing legends in their own right, just branched into two different paths.

I think Easy Aspi was saying this "impersonation" was good, and that Johnny didn't get the credit he should have. It's obvious to me. Why do you all think that is some kind of insult? Seriously, explain it if you can't see that that was a nice - if unclear - thing to say.
Discovered smule and just feel honoured to be doing duets and collaborations of elvis songs. His songs are timeless and as fresh as the day that he sang them. Massive respect to all on Smule ( especially my friends) that always do justice to his music and sound so good
I love Johnny Cash. This has got to be the most incredibly funny video of Johnny I've ever seen. I knew he was awesome but this takes it to another level of awesome! ROFL! This has got to be some very rare footage. I wish he were still here.
I knew Johnny could sing any song and make it a thousand times better, but it was by far the most incredible, what a man! It's a shame I was a kid when he passed away and I couldn't see it in live... But God bless the internet!
Wow, what a historical document. Great sense of humor of Johnny Cash in this impersonation between friends colleagues. It shows his admiration for Elvis.

From this point until 1969 he's laying the foundations for Slytherin with his bad boy behavior. That's why he's the original.
