      Meditation is actually healthy for your brain. Your brain isn't some ethereal thing; it needs care and maintenance like the rest of your body. Many soldiers meditate, especially grunts because the mental stress is brutal.

    • @SERGEANT_DIAZ
      @SERGEANT_DIAZ 2 года назад +2

      @@robertnicholls9917 do I know you? Were / are you National Guard? You can mediate later. You don’t “step away”. That’s the point. You can’t just STOP in the middle of your mission because your wittle bwain hurts.

    • @robertnicholls9917
      @robertnicholls9917 2 года назад +18

      @@SERGEANT_DIAZ I'm a Vet but you know I'm not talking about meditating in the middle of an ongoing mission. After the mission you're still going to do pt, train, get well needed sleep, medical care and assess your mental condition, which meditation helps with or sometimes a doctor. For instance, special ops train in martial arts, which involves breathing exercises. Some meditation is a combination of breathing and calming the mind. I was not spec-ops but participate in some martial arts. If I'm doing it at this low level, you don't think elite soldiers pay attention to such details?
      But, I'm well aware of the "suck it up and drive on" attitude in the military, which is why soldiers retire with long-term injuries. I thought I would be one of them (after end of contract, not retire). Running in boots gives you shinsplints, a common injury in the military. I didn't jog for years as a result but it disappeared. Thank goodness! It's amazing how your mind just accepts injuries as normal, making you think it doesn't get any better.
      Anyway, I know you get my point. This fake alpha male nonsense is cartoonish and why men die early. They don't take care of themselves because,"we're men."
      I would rather be called a bitch and be healthy with a great quality of life. Life isn't short, relatively speaking, you can live 10 40 years in constant physical or mental pain. I don't wish that on anyone.
      Smart people understand how fragile the body and mind is and act accordingly. I'm sure you're not scarfing down burgers every day or dealing with toxic individuals constantly to protect your mental health.

    • @SERGEANT_DIAZ
      @SERGEANT_DIAZ 2 года назад +1

      @@robertnicholls9917 I gathered you were possibly a Veteran, but you didn’t answer the question I asked. Attention to detail: Were you ever in the National Guard? Allow me to be MORE specific. The Texas National Guard. Asking because after AD I knew a guy by your last name. Just wondering if we ever met.
      I understand, and don’t have a problem with, most of what you said. Except the last bit. The mind and body are NOT fragile. People are mentally weak these days. The body can do more than one thinks. We have weak men and women today. We have weak-minded Service Members; INCLUDING the leadership. Some of which, mind you, went through when I did or before. Pisses me off. You want to end up with a sissy military that’s worried more about people’s feelings and pronouns? Okay, but you’re not going to save lives that way. You’ll lose far more troops this way.
      You want to force experimental vaccines on SMs or kick them out? Okay… you’re weeding out the strong and keeping the weak (mentally and physically). That’s the opposite of what OSUT is supposed to do. That’s okay though. They’ll all end up in TX at some point and we will be better for it. Good ol’ boys (and gals) welcome.
      I have plenty of injuries all over from my AD days. I’m a Disabled Combat Veteran with a healthy dose of PTSD, but that doesn’t slow me down. I don’t need a special parking spot, special benefits or treatment. I chose the life, no one made me. It’s part of the understanding. Like the NFL. You know what you’re getting into and what can happen. Police, Firemen, divers, Racecar Drivers, there’s a serious risk associated with many jobs.
      The Army Values, the Infantryman’s Creed and the NCO Creed are parts of my way of life, mentality, and luckily I had a good upbringing with a good man who taught me how to be a man and a gentleman.
      Being strong mentally and pushing yourself physically doesn’t make you dumb. So why would being accepting of a weak mind and body mentality make you smart? Irrelevant. Anyway… carry on.

      So that's referred to as an "Open Ranks Inspection"
      Everyone forms up on the Guardian that gets picked to be the guide and we get nice and sized- evenly spaced out in four rows.
      From there, the senior drill instructors will step forward and get an up-close inspection of our uniforms.
      This is probably the most scrutinous inspection you can get in basic:
      - No fuzz or strings are allowed on your uniform
      - Your clothes have to be well-fit and properly gig-aligned
      - You belt has to be cut to size, and polished to a mirror shine
      - Glasses have to be clean, hat worn at the right tilt
      - You have to be PERFECTLY clean shaven
      - You tags, badges, and pins need to be PERFECTLY aligned, straight, and spaced- they will pull out a RULER if they doubt whether you did it right.
      - Your stuff has to be ironed and free of any stains or blemishes
      - You have to stand still as a statue, no moving or flinching when they get close to you
      - You have to keep your eyes perfectly straight- no looking around or at the sergeants.
      - Your shoes should be freshly cleaned and polished. Laced the exact way shown in the book.
      All in all-
      You just gotta give them 15 minutes of absolute perfection.

    Is to first learn to survive with little more then a naked, possessionless body and the will to endure against all odds, naysayers and doubters. Face your own pain, discover it and live with it in balance. The mistake many make is to believe one can conquer pain, it is the mistake of xinnie the pooh

      @Ass_of_Amalek 2 года назад

      we really should be making more of an effort to develop asteroid defenses. there still have been times in recent years when rocks of very significant sizes (continent- or planet-killing size) made headlines because they were detected on a close trajectory past earth way too late to do anything about it if they had been on a collision course, even if we had good plans to deflect one ready to go, which we don't. the fundamental fact of the matter is that no matter if we use nukes or mount some kind of propulsion or solar wind deflection device on an asteroid, we'll only be able to change the direction it's travelling very slightly, and for this slight angular shift to be enough to definitively make it miss earth, we primarily need to identify a rock on a collision course with earth very early and then launch an extremely large rocket with a lot of fuel toward it to meet it very far away from earth. currently, we can't even guarantee a month of lead warning, and we don't have either a dedicated giant rocket or a purpose-made deflection device ready to launch.
