zoos in china are not profit driven, as they receive handsome subsidy from the government. the chinese government considers it a basic necessity for citizens, and entry tickets are floor low. in some chinese cities, you can go to a zoo for as little as 5 Yuan.

Although tickets to Beijing Zoo are cheap, it used to be the largest urban zoo in Asia. Because of the beautiful environment, I used to go there since childhood, and my wife and I used to go for a walk by the lake when we started dating.
Omg I went there some 30 years ago😂... The Zoo is so outdated and needs renovation man...BTW the ivory comment was just unnecessary. Biased and wrong. The only time in my life I saw an ivory product was in Europe, it was a Bible book from Renaissance time with ivory covers.

Because whenever there is big diplomatic event in Beijing, security will ramp up at certain places. Obviously zoo is not a diplomatic place,therefore the security is loose . Unless some presidents will go.
Perhaps due to the environmental concerns, they don't make paper maps available in large quantities, they can be obtained by asking the staff at the entrances, and as far as I know they have an online interactive map, where you can see your location and make direction to the place, I'm not sure if there are multilingual versions of those online maps.

the aquarium in the Beijing zoo is pretty good.
you can ask hotel staff to help book tickets on apps only in chinese. problem is big attractions might need a week in advance reservation so you gotta plan in advance so stuff like forbidden city can easily be missed by first time tourists. also for zoo, better to do it in morning when they more active and being fed :D

Those pandas in BJ zoo are very popular, like rock stars. Each has very different personalities. Fun to watch their daily activities.

Sorry, normally tourists don't visit zoo in China (don't think it's the zoo in Beijing is that famous), unless you want to see panda zoo in Cheng Du. Hope you guys enjoyed it.
您好～我非常喜欢你们～我想说你们去的这个动物园是比较古老的动物园，里面的熊猫会在抖音直播，非常可爱。北京的新动物园在大兴区，距离市区非常远，乘坐交通工具需要地铁换乘公交车大概2个半小时。白天向游客展示的区域并不是动物们的住处，类似于他们要上班，大概18:00他们也会下班回到它们的生活区域。我在大兴动物园遇到着急下班的小熊猫守在门口，特别可爱。

You can literally go to a somewhere probably anywhere in China where theres free roaming chimps that attack or steal your belongings anyway..... but im thinking one of Chinas national parks like Zhangjiajie or somewhere..... theres definitely a place in HK
Don't go to the Beijing Zoo. Go to the Beijing Wildlife Park in Daxing. That's more fun.

Singapore has one of the best zoos in the world. The monkeys are free to swing around from trees to trees and all animals are free to roam around within the man made habitats.
