Probably the best Stanley live performance of this song. Also the guitar solo is mindblowing, yes it changes the original song but it gives a different & fresh perspective to a classic.
Vinnie blisters through this track and Dr. Love… marking two of my favorite solos by Vinnie… coupled with Eric Carr Double Bass Drumming… Simply Amazing.
Vinnie Vincent was like an elemental force of nature, for better and for worse. Potentially beautiful when given a shape to hold, completely disastrous and out of control when left unrestrained. It took Gene, Paul and others to take him from a destructive flash flood to a refreshing rainfall.
Every solo VV did live in Kiss felt like that time Rock Lee took off his ankle weights to fight Gara. Dude used to let it rip every single time like he didn't have to hold himself anymore
1 - Paul, Gene, Peter, Ace 2 - Paul, Gene, Eric, Bruce and my least fav 3 - Paul, Gene, Eric, Vinnie. Vinnie was awesome technically but imo never fit in with the KISS sound. If I wanted to see how many notes could be played per second in 1984 there were plenty of other bands that were featured, Yngwie, etc. Kiss was never and should have have tried to be a schred or hm band.
I remember the first time I heard this performance i was so shook. The. solo. I immediately put it on my ipod. To me this is second only to Detroit 1992. The way they updated it on the revenge tour was fuckin amazing.
Too bad that Vinnie was not able to mend ways with Kiss. He had some good chops, and a good ability to stack harmony chords over the basic chords Paul plays.
Vinny Vincent was only in kiss to make a name for himself select kiss to make his own band called Vinnie Vincent invasion which was music pop bubble gum music he also tried to sell me a broken guitar and I went to go buy a guitar in Manhattan for my birthday and he had some problems and for some reason he wants to become a girl now
Vinnie Vincent was a great guitarist it does not matter if it's ACE or Vinnie Vincent gene and Paul don't like that they just want a yes man playing guitar!!!!!!!
I agree! Kiss really had an update when they added Vinnie and already had Carr on the drums, they sounded like crazy and near of the heavy metal we had in the 80’s. But you know, Gene and Paul are so selfish to share the stage with anyone else…
@@igor_79845 In my opinion, Vinnie was the most technically able guitarist that they ever had. He may have been difficult, but I don't just believe Paul and Gene's side of things.
But it must be admitted that the section is pumping amazingly here ( 1:24 ) ! Gene and Eric provided a great dynamic ground. Plus Paul's great vocal form.
Vinnie rocked it, probably the best kiss ever had. But I like Mark St. John (second), because he was a really intense player. Bruce is really good. Hate Thayer. Hiring Thayer was the biggest mistake Kiss ever made.

Badass Solo! People complaining who’s better, but who gives a fuck. Without the original obviously there wouldn’t be the song in the first place. I’m glad Vinnie Vincent did not play exactly what Ace Frehley did.

are vinnie’s vocals buried in the mix? i’ve been trying to tell whose vocals are whose (eric and gene can be picked out rather easily) but i can’t tell if it’s vinnie or paul singing in the background
That's right!!!! This is true . I listened to the solo and definitely understood (because lately I’ve been listening to Randy Rhoаds a lot with Ozzy and in Quiet Riot) that Vinnie Vincent is using Randy Rhoаds’ moves. That's for sure . And I wanted to find out in the comments who thought the same thing. And you wrote that this is a heavier version of Randy Rhoаds. I don’t know which version is heavy or not (but the solo is amazing), but I definitely agree that the hand of the great Randy Rhoаds is there.. And yes, Vinnie Vincent plays on a guitar whose shape was invented by Randy Rhoаds, and ordered from guitar master Grover Jackson.
Vinnie had the most potential to be an amazing permanent member. People often blame Paul and Gene being too controlling but from everything I’ve read He was fired for being too greedy. He kept asking for more and more money. Apparently less than a year in the band he had demanded to be payed the same as Paul and Gene rather than pay his dues and gradually get higher pay. Hell, on his website earlier this year he raised the price of an autograph by $100 I believe it’s currently at $175 for an autograph. And suing KISS 14 times for defamation amongst other things apparently earlier this year filing a 15 lawsuit. Yes Gene and Paul are very controlling but from what everything sounds like it’s a case of he was good enough to get into the greatest rock band in the world and that went to his head and he squandered it. Which does suck because he definitely had the most potential to be a great permanent member. I like Tommy and all but let’s face it he’s just doing an Ace Impression (I’m 95% sure that Paul and Gene made him do it that way though)
maybe but Gene and Paul are blame - Thayer and Singer to them its a paycheck - only 2 studio albums from this lineup - why ? look to soul crap he can sing that but no new kiss material - has to be tons of studio unreleased songs - alternate takes out takes - 50 years worth ....I ASK every time anyone know of anything from Boom or Monster ?

This is my favorite solo of Love Gun
The difference of creating your own character, your own make up, your own guitar solo, your own personality

100% agree; this solo and Dr. Love by Vinnie in Rio are explosive solos to be remembered!!!!!!

My favorite Love Gun solo! I wish this could be replicated on a high quality recording
This was the King Biscuit Flower Hour concert from Nashville in 84...Somewhere I have the original Tape from the broadcast sounding perfect
