For me this has been the best tutorial so far. I got it. I've been playing at this song for a long time. I decided to learn it for the accordion and was searching and found your video. I have to transpose to F as I can't sing it in C. My favorite key. that's okay. Thanks.

Have just started sitting back down at my piano. Played this many times when gigging and doing the harmonica and vocal on it. I realized i missed so many details when playing this..but with singing it and the harp part it was all i could do 😅. You have really simplified the teaching. I sat down for an hour today rehashing the intro starting and stopping this vid! Amazing my progress

the best tutorial EVERRR + i love how when learning the bit before the lyrics start, at the first octave of the piece she says “if you can’t reach an octave just get rid of that C” 😫i have kind of small hands so reaching an octave without hitting the key next to it is difficult for me lol. loved this tutorial thank you so much!

The fact that I’ve only played piano for 5 days yet learned to player a tiny bit slower version of the opening is amazing. And it kills me I only learned it because I play harmonica and wanted to play the piano part of the song before the harmonica solo so it could sound more like the song.

Great tutorial, Francesca - thank you. I've long wanted to learn this, but have always been a bit shy of it because it 'sounds' hard! A half-hour, though, and I've got the intro nailed! I did once try learning it from sheet music, but didn't get far. Although my sight reading is improving now, my pattern recognition is still better when it's relating to the keyboard in front of me rather than the notes on the stave - so this method of learning suits me perfectly. One day I may be able to tackle 'Root Beer Rag' - but only when I grow a few extra fingers! I can play 'Maybe I'm Amazed', but am going to check out your video on it now to see your take on it. Thanks again. My learning has really improved since latching onto this channel.

Good video, one thing to note though on Billy Joel's version he's playing two note chords in the right hand not three. The bottom note of the right hand chords doesn't go below middle C
