What Cryptic did with the Odyssey class contest was amazing & I sadly doubt it will ever happen again. While it isn't one of my favorite classes of ships I do admire that it seems to maintain an Enterprise lineage with it's looks & feel. Then again I'm here commenting on a 2 yr old video lol.
If I had to choose six and in particular order... 1. Odyssey. I too first flew and obtained the Odyssey during the 2nd Anniversary event. 2. Obelisk Carrier. The odd, alien looking structure has long been a favorite of mine. Once one of the largest in-game ships, it fell to the wayside during the "bigger is better" phase of ship design. Also disappointed that the T5-U is locked behind the paywall. 3. Walker-class Prototype. While not as powerful as the Lobi-locked T6 variant, the scaling version is my favorite ship to actually fly. I can tweak her to be very viable for end game content. 4. Advanced Light Cruiser. Just a smidgen less fun to fly than the Walker, my Fleet ALC has all the T6 oompf I will ever need. This is my daily driver. 5. Romulan Solanae Destroyer. While a compromise mechanically, this ship is gorgeous. Even with the compromises, this is still a ship that can handle end game PVE content easily. 6. Vor'cha. No matter the Tier, this is, to me, the quintessential Klingon cruiser. The various BoPs might be more recognizably Klingon and I love most BoP designs, the Vor'cha symbolizes Klingon power more effectively. Sorry about the long comment.

We almost have the same taste in ships - except for the constellation class - what I have in that "slot" is the Jupiter Carrier. It's an "okay" alternative to those that can't afford the Jem'hadar Dreadnaught. It's practically the only "official" Federation carrier that Starfleet has in STO. I used to LOVE the pathfinder/intrepid/Bellerophon variants until their nacelles no longer stay closed during warp or when it goes to warp. It really disappointed me (more like pissed me off) that they will never fix the nacelle animation since it broke during Delta Rising and stayed broken. Rather than lament it, I moved on to the multi-mission explorers instead. Any way, great video as usual!
In case you're not aware, they actually finally just fixed the nacelle animation for the Intrepid/ Pathfinder/ Bellerophon ship. The only time it doesn't change position is when you transwarp, although I wish it did.
@@czi125 Saw that, and originally it also animated when going to warp. Only time will tell when whatever they "fixed" this time around will get broken again in the next expansion/major update. It took them at least 2-3 expansions/"seasons" for them to finally fix some stuff - and that is like around 3 years for them to get to it. This could be a good start - but I also notice they also shoehorned in more macrotransactions as well. Unless you weren't looking at the "subtle" changes in the C-store - they also included a way for you to BUY the event commendations so you won't have to grind for it per day. If this isn't "new" - then I'm a johnny-come-lately to it because they normally didn't have the option to buy the commendation tokens directly via the C-store before. 1000 zen for 10 commendation tokens so you don't have to play the STF/TFO shit to get one PER DAY. It's not enough that they have LOOT boxes called "lock boxes" - so they might as well just SELL the damn event items/ships if all they want is our goddamn cash and get it over with.

A Ship I have recently bought is the Daystrom Miracle Worker Cruiser. It's great for battle, despite being bigger then most ships, it allows me to actually take hits from Voth, Iconian or both ships.
You should included the Akira class heavy battle Cruiser . It's got lots of firepower , a small fleet of fighters and shuttles ,and was briefly in a voyageur series against the stolen Pegasus starship and romulans .It was developed and put into service toward the end of the Dominion Wars . Very big and powerful ship designed for war rather than science and exploration..

I've been wanting to add the Hestia class to my fleet of ships - one of these days if I convert enough dil to Zen. :-) And now that my Delta recruit is fully leveled and properly skilled for flying cruisers, all the Odyssey variants (esp. the Endeavor class/Tactical Star Cruiser) have very quickly become my favorite tanks.
my top 6 would be: 1, Odyssey class, first zen ship i bought, it has seen me through many years of the game and I just love it. 2, Vesta class, another favourite because of how it looks like the sprinter of the fleet and not only that but i have a bit of a crush on Ezri Dax and her ship is one :P . 3, Akira class, Starfleet's heaby hitting bruiser witha really cool design, especially the fly through hanger deck bit. 4, Constituion class refit. this was my enterprise as I first got into Trek through the TOS Movies. 5, Excelsior class, love this ship too, one of the first I saw and i always smile when i see the old girl either flying around in game, in the shows or looking awesome in artwork. 6, Sovereign class, another ship where i saw it and just fell in love and like the Constituion and excelsior, i can't explain it I just loved it at first sight. well that was a long one XD
I started playing a little before it went free to play. I think the tactical odyssey class was also my first. lol My top six would probably be: Kortar pilot raptor, Arbiter battlecruiser, Dauntless, Vesta, Xindi-Amphibian carrier, and probably the Armitage. Had lots of fun in the latter, though I don't much use it no more.
I recently dusted off my defiant class and had a little fun with it while re-watching DS9. LOL. I don't have the Kelvin intel dreadnought, so I can't really say anything about it, other than; "I want!" LOL
my top 5 in no particular order: The fleet Paladin temporal battle cruiser. I hate how it looks so I use the Ranger skin on it. However it is one of my favorite ships to fly. The Endeavor star cruiser. Using various parts to make the aesthetics the way I like it. The Eternal Class Multi mission science ship in full exotic damage mode with no tactical abilities at all. The tac seat is used for temporal abilities and its this ship I use when I don't wanna pew pew something to death. The T6 Defiant. Valiant Hull, Sao Paolo saucer, defiant nacels, a tough little ship. The new T6 narendra support cruiser, I like mixing and matching the old and new ambassador class ship aesthetics and it makes a nice lil tank.
I’ve never played STO but also like the look of the J - though I think it would look better if the primary hull were proportioned more like the Galaxy class.
I wouldn’t make 1 ship the main for all my toons. Depending on the role my toon is, I usually run a different ship for each toon. So for example my science toon currently commands the Titan class. My tank runs the Buran class. My dps toon pilots the Edison warship.
My favorite ship in all of star trek is the Odyssey class, then a close second is the nx class, then the sovereign, then the galaxy (dominion war refit with the phasers on the nacells)

I want to use the Odyssey but the Engineer cardassian with 2 hangers, mobile torpedo platform and the support where you spawn like 4 disrupter platforms just makes me too comfortable.
I would ask for an update on this video, based on the current lineup of ships. After all, there are now also Temporal (TOS) Federation, Temporal (DSC) Federation, & Dominion factions, each with their own ships you can get in-game now. As well as the Cardassian Intel ships & the new T6 Pilot ships.

It really is. I feel bad for long range science vessels. You can't really kit bash without it looking like some engineer was on an alcohol and meth bender.

This addresses a couple clunky-looking of visual aspects of the Intreped design...ineligant nacelle strut angle and design, stubby, short, ingraceful nacelles, and a primary hull shape that was innovative, but to my eye, dull. The longer underslung nacelles give the ship an almost Klingon vibe, but elongated and rear-balanced, they harken to the Constitution and Sovereign Classes. I also like breaking up the wedge/spade primary hull with a gentle fork up front. The extra detailing give it look that plays into its utilitarian flexibility...I just love it!
My personal 6 1: Hands down Odyssey, with Sojourner hull section 2: D'Deridex, because no ship trumps its TNG infamy 3: Galaxy class, because its the ship of 'Mister Picard' 4: Advanced Heavy Cruiser, because STgenerations hyped up its deflector - the deflector actually did something epic XD 5: Temporal Light Cruiser, with film visuals 6: Nova class, because its a tough little ship. All these ships do the game justice given their stats, and most of them are my first choice to play making it extremely difficult to choose :)
Also if any one is going for a decent non rep phaser build I strongly advise mixing the quantum phase set with the tri lithium enhanced set from the beyond the nexus mission as the quantum is just pure dps if supplemented with phaser relays and has an increased auxiliary power proc and the tri lithium enhanced allows you to equip both the omni array and the turret meaning if you place one fore and one aft you will have an extra weapon from both sides of the ship, then just fill the gap with the prolonged engagement phaser from the Phoenix box and another phaser of your choosing, and of course for whale cruisers the polaric modulater from delta flight mission is just so good for maneuverability then just fill gaps with tetraburnium hull plating in engineering and field emitters in science, it all just compliments and balances each other and since it's all won from missions barring the prolonged engagement phaser its practically free meaning u can invest that hard earned dilithium into phoenix upgrade kits to make a decent tfo build for new players

you need to go kdf and get the B'rel's.... get the kor and then get the flt t6 brel... talk about death from nowhere.. if you can stack shield pentitration.. then unless you console warheads.. you can basically kill anything in one run. My main is not max anything really but with dual heavy cannons and that console i can do 100k damage on the warhead using the cannons to knock out the shields in 3 secs flat.
You probably won't reply to this but.. I'm thinking of getting the T6 Odyssey and having 3 part quantum and 3 part Aegis with a beam build on it but I'm just wondering if you have ran one of the T6 Odyssey classes and what your thoughts on them are
Well, I may be lax on replies on times, I do try to reply. Now, on to your question. I do have the T6 Oddy's and did a 4-part review of them. They are not bad, but I haven't run with either of them for a bit. But, depending on what role you want to do could make the difference.
0:35 Actually , yeah it is a surprise . I dont get the attraction to this ship . The Oberth Class is crucified because of the way it attached the saucer to the engineering section but the Odyssey Class is put together the same way but it is considered an example of engineering genius ?????
Some have some giant Weaknesses For example the odyssey is cool but quite weak. You should have added more like the sao paulo , the dreadnought galaxy X and some of the Temporal Ships
Haven't seen most of these before as I quit playing after the impressive screwup (even for a gaming company) during the change in ownership of STO. I still like my Prometheus, which I think was the last ship I obtained, and a few ships I acquired before it.
I can understand why you stopped playing. Believe it or not, STO has gotten a lot better. It may have taken them almost a decade to get things right. Regardless, perhaps you might tip your toe back into STO?

I posted a support ticket to Arc 20 minutes ago, for one and only one reason...because of this video. Oh, there was also the fact that I swore off all MMOs permanently a few years ago, but I guess permanently isn't the same as forever. :)
I guess that would be a valid reason why you’d quit. I hope they get it resolved. It’d be a shame if you weren’t able to join in. They’ve been actually working on the game and not being lazy about it either. Well, for the most part anyways.

Wells class > everything else. But it's not exactly a original STO ship, yes. Next best thing wuld probably be the Eternal class, I can't help it, I love the 31st century
I fly a Verne, and she's awesome. The trait is killer, she can Hug the Donkey pretty well with evasive maneuvers, and the Lieutenant Commander Temporal seat is great. I've maxed out the TDI reputation and use the weapons from it, and she was just made for them. I highly recommend picking one up if you have the chance.
I literally hate myself for my gambling addiction. My plan was always: Get a DPRM to break the 300k, then get the Verne because I fucking love this ship. Almost 400 opened Infinity boxes and 75 Promo boxes later... I still don't have my DPRM, let alone my beloved Verne, and I'm still sitting in my good ol' T5-U Wells :'( If I had just sold them I would have it by now... fucking Spencer, HIS GOD DAMN VIDEOS WHERE HE WINS A SHIP EVEY 20 BOXES !

Stan Brewer yeah, it’s been over a year so I’m not sure why I was silent on the honourable mentions. My 2019 top 6 ships video is much better after learning the mistakes from this video.
Michael Bond first you have to be in a fleet that has (I think) t3 completed on the starbase. You have to have 20k in fleet marks and you will nee fleet modules. The number of fleet marks is determined if you have the T6 version of the ship from the c-store. If you don’t have it, you will need 4-5 fleet modules. If you do have it, you’ll only need 1. Fleet modules are easier to get now. Once you have reached T6 on any of the reputations you can get 1 for 100 marks. Sorry, unfortunately there is no T6 fleet oddy.
Yeah, the T6 Oddysey variants are already fleet "quality," meaning they have 11 console slots and a little extra hull. The only Odyssey you can buy with Fleet Credits is the original event Odyssey which is a T5. With the right build, it can still tackle most end game content; as long as you are not looking to join Elite queues or something.

Thrawn fumbling over my words is part my dyslexia. I also need to slow down when reading the script. The more I do it, the better I should get. Besides, having a script helps me focus on what I want to say without all the ummm’s and awww’s. Sure I can edit those out, it would just take more time editing.

Absolutely most of the combat can be done in the Kerrat system. There you can fight the Borg or other faction players or both at the same time. It's truly the best part of the game.

my top 5 in no particular order:
The fleet Paladin temporal battle cruiser. I hate how it looks so I use the Ranger skin on it. However it is one of my favorite ships to fly.
The Endeavor star cruiser. Using various parts to make the aesthetics the way I like it.
The Eternal Class Multi mission science ship in full exotic damage mode with no tactical abilities at all. The tac seat is used for temporal abilities and its this ship I use when I don't wanna pew pew something to death.
The T6 Defiant. Valiant Hull, Sao Paolo saucer, defiant nacels, a tough little ship.
The new T6 narendra support cruiser, I like mixing and matching the old and new ambassador class ship aesthetics and it makes a nice lil tank.

At level 4, I make it my primary ship as it scales with the character,...
I wouldn’t make 1 ship the main for all my toons. Depending on the role my toon is, I usually run a different ship for each toon. So for example my science toon currently commands the Titan class. My tank runs the Buran class. My dps toon pilots the Edison warship.

I get it. They are big and slow. Yet they make up for it in swarm attacks and survivability.
Perhaps a carrier will be on the next list that I do.
My favorite ship in all of star trek is the Odyssey class, then a close second is the nx class, then the sovereign, then the galaxy (dominion war refit with the phasers on the nacells)
Mr.stonks I like the Oddy myself. It seems only natural that it’s a successor to the Enterprise.

I want to use the Odyssey but the Engineer cardassian with 2 hangers, mobile torpedo platform and the support where you spawn like 4 disrupter platforms just makes me too comfortable.

I would ask for an update on this video, based on the current lineup of ships. After all, there are now also Temporal (TOS) Federation, Temporal (DSC) Federation, & Dominion factions, each with their own ships you can get in-game now. As well as the Cardassian Intel ships & the new T6 Pilot ships.
Timothy Hansen I would do an update on this video, but some of those ships you’ve mentioned, I still don’t have. If I do get them, I will of course do an updated video.

If you can't get your hands on the Inquiry Class, you can always get the T6 Arbiter class. Its pretty much the same ship.

I also recommend doing a top 5 to 10 list of customized ships video.
I generally do a top 6 (3 for each division), but I could certainly try to do a top 10. Might take me a bit though.

The Pathfinder is in my opinion so much nicer than the Intrepid. Beautiful ship!
It really is. I feel bad for long range science vessels. You can't really kit bash without it looking like some engineer was on an alcohol and meth bender.
@@MXPHOENIX Well put! This addresses a couple clunky-looking of visual aspects of the Intreped design...ineligant nacelle strut angle and design, stubby, short, ingraceful nacelles, and a primary hull shape that was innovative, but to my eye, dull.
The longer underslung nacelles give the ship an almost Klingon vibe, but elongated and rear-balanced, they harken to the Constitution and Sovereign Classes. I also like breaking up the wedge/spade primary hull with a gentle fork up front. The extra detailing give it look that plays into its utilitarian flexibility...I just love it!

4. Buran class
3. Sao Paolo class
2. Hestia class
1. Palatine class
I have yet to fly the Alita and Buran classes, but hopefully soon I will get them. Thanks for letting me know your favorite ships!

1: Hands down Odyssey, with Sojourner hull section
2: D'Deridex, because no ship trumps its TNG infamy
3: Galaxy class, because its the ship of 'Mister Picard'
4: Advanced Heavy Cruiser, because STgenerations hyped up its deflector - the deflector actually did something epic XD
5: Temporal Light Cruiser, with film visuals
6: Nova class, because its a tough little ship.
All these ships do the game justice given their stats, and most of them are my first choice to play making it extremely difficult to choose :)

I will admit my odyssey sojourner is so tanky now that the pre-eminent set is on it, I cannot state enough how useful that set is

Also if any one is going for a decent non rep phaser build I strongly advise mixing the quantum phase set with the tri lithium enhanced set from the beyond the nexus mission as the quantum is just pure dps if supplemented with phaser relays and has an increased auxiliary power proc and the tri lithium enhanced allows you to equip both the omni array and the turret meaning if you place one fore and one aft you will have an extra weapon from both sides of the ship, then just fill the gap with the prolonged engagement phaser from the Phoenix box and another phaser of your choosing, and of course for whale cruisers the polaric modulater from delta flight mission is just so good for maneuverability then just fill gaps with tetraburnium hull plating in engineering and field emitters in science, it all just compliments and balances each other and since it's all won from missions barring the prolonged engagement phaser its practically free meaning u can invest that hard earned dilithium into phoenix upgrade kits to make a decent tfo build for new players

you need to go kdf and get the B'rel's.... get the kor and then get the flt t6 brel... talk about death from nowhere.. if you can stack shield pentitration.. then unless you console warheads.. you can basically kill anything in one run. My main is not max anything really but with dual heavy cannons and that console i can do 100k damage on the warhead using the cannons to knock out the shields in 3 secs flat.

You probably won't reply to this but.. I'm thinking of getting the T6 Odyssey and having 3 part quantum and 3 part Aegis with a beam build on it but I'm just wondering if you have ran one of the T6 Odyssey classes and what your thoughts on them are
Well, I may be lax on replies on times, I do try to reply. Now, on to your question. I do have the T6 Oddy's and did a 4-part review of them. They are not bad, but I haven't run with either of them for a bit. But, depending on what role you want to do could make the difference.

For example the odyssey is cool but quite weak. You should have added more like the sao paulo , the dreadnought galaxy X and some of the Temporal Ships
Haven't seen most of these before as I quit playing after the impressive screwup (even for a gaming company) during the change in ownership of STO. I still like my Prometheus, which I think was the last ship I obtained, and a few ships I acquired before it.
I can understand why you stopped playing. Believe it or not, STO has gotten a lot better. It may have taken them almost a decade to get things right. Regardless, perhaps you might tip your toe back into STO?
@@MXPHOENIX Why I stopped playing was that Cryptic/PW repeatedly screwed up my efforts to recover my account from the transition screwup. I posted a support ticket to Arc 20 minutes ago, for one and only one reason...because of this video.
Oh, there was also the fact that I swore off all MMOs permanently a few years ago, but I guess permanently isn't the same as forever. :)

@@MXPHOENIX Well I was unable to recover my account because I am not comfortable with the Arc terms of service or their quality of account security, which is unfortunate but such is life. Thankfully I have a few games which have Trek mods or that I can (eventually) manage to mod Trek ships into.
@@GlassDeviant Well, you could always create a new account? I know starting fresh isn't ideal. You don't have to download the arc launcher if you don't want to. I use steam to play STO. Not sure if that is the issue, or just Arc in general.

I fly a Verne, and she's awesome. The trait is killer, she can Hug the Donkey pretty well with evasive
maneuvers, and the Lieutenant Commander Temporal seat is great. I've maxed out the TDI reputation and use the weapons from it, and she was just made for them. I highly recommend picking one up if you have the chance.

I having issues figuring out how to get fleet ships because I either want a fleet t6 soverign class or a fleet t6 odyssey
Michael Bond first you have to be in a fleet that has (I think) t3 completed on the starbase. You have to have 20k in fleet marks and you will nee fleet modules. The number of fleet marks is determined if you have the T6 version of the ship from the c-store. If you don’t have it, you will need 4-5 fleet modules. If you do have it, you’ll only need 1. Fleet modules are easier to get now. Once you have reached T6 on any of the reputations you can get 1 for 100 marks. Sorry, unfortunately there is no T6 fleet oddy.
Yeah, the T6 Oddysey variants are already fleet "quality," meaning they have 11 console slots and a little extra hull.
The only Odyssey you can buy with Fleet Credits is the original event Odyssey which is a T5. With the right build, it can still tackle most end game content; as long as you are not looking to join Elite queues or something.

Thrawn fumbling over my words is part my dyslexia. I also need to slow down when reading the script. The more I do it, the better I should get. Besides, having a script helps me focus on what I want to say without all the ummm’s and awww’s. Sure I can edit those out, it would just take more time editing.

You can if you wish. There is a PVP “arena” but not very many people do PVP.
Absolutely most of the combat can be done in the Kerrat system. There you can fight the Borg or other faction players or both at the same time. It's truly the best part of the game.

Well I didn’t really take ship design into account when I did the video, but yes that’s how the federation does make their ships. Flying spoons with windows. 😉
I use the icarus hull on my pilot escort so it has zero windows except for the bridge. Goes well with the defiant interior
