Hi Jack, I went to this trail in 2018 and this is the most scenic trail I have ever done, now thru your vid make me think twice about going to this trail soon. And, I just found your channel and went thru all of your video already. Cheers to your amazing works and supports!
Great information for the hike! We really appreciate your Isle of Skye walkthrough too. I will say you can get a hamburger with fries and other food items (surprisingly) at the Porsmork Volcano Hut. Perfect hot meal celebration after a long trek. It's in the main building and not where campers go to cook food. Also, taking a 4x4 vehicle to Porsmork involves some dangerous river crossing driving skills. I wouldn't recommend anyone take a 4x4 there unless they have river crossing offroad skills. The bus is definitely more affordable and less risky. A local told me how often they have to pull tourists vehicles out of the river because they didn't cross properly. Just a heads up for those considering driving.
Jack, thank you so much for sharing your video and journey. I’m planning to do this next year. Did you filter your water? Thanks in advance and Happy Trails!👣
Hi Mary! There's no need to as the glacier water is all very clean and pure. Though the only water bottle I had with me was a filter bottle, so I did filter the water
Very informative, thanks for the video! I'm planning to do this next summer. One question though, I have a pretty bad fear of heights, do you think that will pose a challenge? I know you mentioned that there are some steep sections...is there many of them or just a few? I am only doing the Laugavegur as the path to Skogar seems a bit too challenging, especially the cat spine. Definitely could not do that.
@@jackbrookes hi! Not this summer but the next! Any steep slope makes my knees week but I decided I'll just have to push through cause I don't want that to keep me from such a great experience. Besides if it's really bad I'm not ashamed to do the butt scoot 😂
That's the attitude!! 🤣 There are a few steep sections but nothing crazy, the first day getting to the lake campsite (Alftevaten?) mostly, but not enough to stop you from doing such an incredible hike @@MrPopTart4Lyfe
I understand you have to reserve the huts ahead of time, but for camping I understand there’s no reservations required if you find a spot pay for it and you’re good to go is that correct?

Hey thanks for the comment! There is definitely some steep sections but it depends how bad the fear is..did you end up doing it this summer?

Yes that’s correct! Camp grounds from my experience are never turning people away and no bookings requirwd
