  • This video has been a long time coming. Three separate weekends putting the chassis back together with the new steering links and a brushless motor, among other small changes.
Everything went well with no issues. The only problem that I found was a binding universal driveshaft. The joint had seized up so I took it apart, cleaned it and applied some bearing oil. That seemed to work so I put it back in the chassis at the rear where there is less movement. I'll keep my eye on it to see if the problem re-occurs.
Removing the rear bumper mount has made a big difference too. It's something that I've wanted to do for a while. The new ball joints have taken all the play away in the front suspension but the arms are a bit stiff. If that continues, I'll again, add some oil rather than grease or get some metal ones rather than plastic. The only other thing to mention is the new pinion. It's a 19t steel part from Ebay. Sounds completely different to the Tamiya alloy version but the mesh is fine. It should hopefully last longer.
I have found a carpet drift track nearby so when the body is done, that's where it will have it's first run. Can't wait for that.
