Small woodworking note! The wood glue is actually gonna be a hella strong bond, stronger than the screw. The bracketing will likely help for reinforcement so that the any bending stress doesn't make the wood snap, but the screws in the joints are totally not needed. (If you've ever had a wood-glued joint fail, it's never the glue that fails, something normally splitters and breaks instead.)
@@SarahSpaceman No problem! Just make sure the glue has had the full 24-48 hours to dry before you stress the bond any (check the bottle for the specifics, some glues have different drying times,) and that you clamp it best you can the first few hours that it's drying. You could even use the screw to function as your clamp, then replace it with a wood dowel after. Saves you a little weight and you can sand if flush if you need to.
I must be unlucky 😂 I've had wood glue fail me once but the glue was put on 10+ years before the break happened. Tho I will say I glued it back on with a screw and it hasn't moved since
I must be unlucky 😂 I've had wood glue fail me once but the glue was put on 10+ years before the break happened. Tho I will say I glued it back on with a screw and it hasn't moved since
@@sploompdoomper 10+ years is stretching it! It will degrade over time. I've done work with vintage furniture and the glue on those often needs to be sanded down and redone if there's been any sort of break. (also notice where the break happened, most of the times, I find the glue firmly attached to one side of the wood, with shreds of the other side still attached, which makes cleaning it off to redo the joint such a PIA....) I think it's safe to say any joinery done for cosplay will have other issues to worry about 10 years on more than the glue :) Entropy is not kind to wearables and lugables.
God I just want to say the amount of dedication and skill to finish this project is so admirable and I hope so many people can see this and tell you too. Absoloutely crazy but like in the best way possible oml.
Haha thank you! its good to hear it be justified 😂 I knew i was gonna use it at some point but i wasnt sure when i wanted to be THAT extra with the music
The end honestly made me tear up a little. Of course there are cosplays I've looked at and thought, I could never do that. But knowing everyone else is out there struggling too really helps. Your cosplay turned out incredible. While watching this I was working on my Cyno (Genshin) cosplay. :)
@@SarahSpaceman your content is so calming and relatable and I learn so much. :) even the breakdown of simple things is reassuring if nothing else. I feel like most of us are self taught and just hoping we're doing it right.
As a kind of brand new cosplayer, I can't thank you enough for keeping the "it didn't work part" in! It's very frustrating thinking that I'm probably "not really good at that thing finally" when it's actually difficult for everyone. So thanks again, it was very inspiring! (Currently working on 3 cosplays that are almost finish *very hyped*; Houzukigami and Fuzukigami from Natsume Yuujinchou and Fearne Calloway from Critical Role - its tough, but hey, it's still very fun :))
Sarah, something you said that really helped me get the confidence I needed to finally wear my cosplay in public spaces and it’s “make cosplay to fit your body, don’t make your body fit cosplay” as a person who has always been a bit bigger size it’s given me the confidence I need to finish and finally wear my dark elemental lux cosplay
34:35 I nearly cried at this moment honestly, what an amazing feat this cosplay was. All of your hard work shines through, and as I've just only dipped my toes into more complex wig styling it was so encouraging to see what did and did not work and the journey it took to get to the final glorious reveal. Seriously, kudos to you, you are such an inspiration!!

Excellent job! Edit: Also, I was seeing your progress on instagram in short videos, I didn't know you were documenting the whole process on youtube! I just got this recommended to me on here.

Gotta say, I struggled on handmade cosplays before and seeing the incredible work that you did while aslo showing us that you had it hard as well, not everything flowed as it should've, gave me hope that even if I struggle, I can pull through too. And I cried at the end reveal, you looked so proud and happy!
Wow! Now that was some problem solving. So so amazing. Those are the kinds of things that make me love cosplay so much. After figuring out something that seems so impossible you get to look back and think “wow I did that, I figured it out!” Also, I’ve been working on making some flowers during your videos. Keep up the great work, you always blow me away!
you are totally underselling by calling this just a wig. this a whole ass _headress._ and a piece of genius engineering and craftsmanship to boot. that thing with the head ruffle and the straps to attach the pigtails was so clever. well done

I'm an artist, so I totally understand what it's like to make something that takes a phenomenal amount of effort but holy cow this is another level. Cosplayers like you will never cease to amaze me, especially with how you put so much time and care into a project that has SO MANY different parts and materials and bonkers details that you need to figure out yourself. 35:18 the music definitely suits the reveal of the whole costume finish, my jaw still dropped even though i watched your videos on how you put it together!
I learned so much while watching this!! Wigs have never been my strong suit. All wigs that I have are very minimally styled and I’ve never been able to figure out how to make huge voluminous hairstyles like this. Thank you for showing your whole process!
I love the fact that you show your mitsakes and the way that you fix them! it really motivates me with my cosplays since i get very frustrated at times ! and playling your videos while i am making my rin cosplay for a masquerade really makes me feel part of the cosplay community and reminds me that nobody is perfect ! keep going you are amazing !!!

Working on a very simple wig over here, and stumbled across this absolute beast of a creation - fantastic ingenuity, and the final product is amazing! Thank you for sharing your work and process!
I saw you at Närcon with this cosplay and I was so amazed with how easily you seemed to move in it! And now I see you have a whole wooden rig in your wig?!? AMAZED you're amazing and an inspiration!! great job!!

This is awesome!!! Congrats on finishing the build!!!!! I’m also currently working on (and by working on I mean I’m staring at it and not touching it LOL) a miku cosplay as well (with like this giant pigtail bobble thing?) and I’m inspired to work on it again lol. Thanks for your content it’s always super awesome!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖

This is so helpful- I plan to cosplay the 2024 Snow Miku and the pigtails are INSANE. I've been ruminating over how to pull of such a long wig. you're a life saver!
Oh god, I cried at the end of the video. It sounds silly, but really your content means a lot to me. I struggle with my costume for too long and I was so mad at myself and felt bad about it, seeing only the good sides of others' cosplays and hearing how fast someone can work. It's really refreshing, when I can see a smile of someone's face after the hard journey with their cosplay and I know how hard it was and can relate to it. Thank you for what you're doing
When I initially saw this design, I knew it was one I HAD to cosplay, but I wasn't sure how I'd go about it. Thank you for documenting your journey (and struggles lol) making this! It was super inspirational to watch tbh
My how literal question was when I cosplayed the Predator. I wanted to do a similar thing I saw in the AvP film when one turns his back and the dreads just swish so perfectly I wanted it. All tutorials I could find would allow that so I came up with my own idea, I braided rope. It weights way more and took so long, but I absolutely love it, worth it for me
Wig design is on itself is a whole bucket of cats for cosplayers and congratulations on this masterpiece, it looks fantastic and the engeneering behind it is on point !!
I really learn from videos like this, there isn't much material about it, it helps to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't know where to step. It turned out amazing
I’m not a cosplayer or in the community and holy BALLS this is ridiculously impressive, what an introduction into this community. You, my friend, have set the bar sky high
I styled my first ever cosplay wig a while back as I watched this video so it’s always been special. you’ve been a big part of how I started cosplay and the reason I finally tried to actually make things and style wigs for cosplay. Thanks Sarah ❤
I've come here for cosplay motivation and I was not disappointed! I'm currently working on a Holiday Lady Urbosa for HolMat as well! I need that big wig energy. Congrats on making it into the cosplay contest!!
I just saw you at Holiday Matsuri and OH MY WOW!! I mean just seeing your performance was incredible, but now seeing how much work actually went into it is mind boggling! ALSO OF COURSE CONGRATULATIONS!!! You were definitely my favorite there and deserved to win!!
Ive rewatched all of your miku videos countless times because I literally cannot get over how amazing cosplay this is. Like?? All the detail?? The dedication?? It’s all just AAAAAAAAAA 💞💞💞💞💞💞
I’m con crunching right now, finishing details on Itto and Bowsette and honestly these videos have been amazing to watch as a give myself breaks. You’ve definitely inspired me to try more in depth cosplay making instead of just altering premade clothing to look right. Amazing work ❤
Recently got into crafting and I watched this while working on some raven wings I'm building. I've never done anything like this and I'm worried it won't work out but watching your videos has motivated me to keep going!
idk if you took a break from instagram for a mental health break or not but either way you seem so much happier now? to keep going with this project when it wasn't working out just shows a tremendous amount of strength because i think a lot of people would've given up but you stuck with it and it looks so good? sorry if this is a weird comment lol and i hope its not patronizing to say that im very proud of you
I'm watching this while making my customers persona 3 reload costumes. I had a headache with the zippers but thanks to seeing you struggle, it elevates my pain a little bit. I love you!!!!
This has been inspiration to get more into the wig world! I don't know why wigs scare me so much when I'm actively hand quilting a 6 colored fur bodysuit as I watch this
This is video I will remember for the rest of my life. You are so incredibly informative and the methods you use are innovative and honest. Thank you so much for sharing this!!
You're my hero. This actually is helping me with weight distribution on my OWN miku wig! The only difference is that instead of using ruffles, I'm using a second sort of hair layer to cover!
I don’t know you at all, I have only just found your channel but I have watched the whole series and felt very emotional seeing it all together, the amount of work and talent is phenomenal and I can’t get over it xx
Seeing u work on this cosplay makes me motivated to work on my Angewomon cosplay that I'm planning on doing for a con in September. I found myself enjoying your content and your process of crafting. Keep inspiring!!!!
That's amazing! I hate wigs and could never tackle something like this! Also, working happily on a cosplay and then reaching a part where you fail and have to try again over and over and you still fail so you then sideline it for 3 months is probably the most relatable thing lol.
Even if it says no fumes please still wear a respirator when handling resin. I used to get terrible headaches from using "fume free" resins indoors. Now I wear one and open the front door (5ft away) and set up a strong fan in the doorway to pull the air out, no more headaches. Fume free essentially is just "scent free" but it can still do damage to your lungs and other organs.
after watching this whole saga in one go i finally understood it... this is not a tutorial. its a *warning* jokes apart the final results look sooo good, my mom never had any interest in cosplay but she sat with me for the entire skirt video, watching it in total fascination. good job!!!!!
I'm working on a crochet Glaceon blanket and I'm so excited to try out some of the techniques you've shared on some of my cosplay wigs! Thank you for all the in-depth information!!
Started watching wig videos/ tutorials recently because I’ve never worn a wig before, but want to make one for a Vash costume in June. I didn’t expect to enjoy them so much, especially seeing crazy stuff like this 🙀
currently binging like your entire channel whist con crunching a mandalorian cosplay and your videos are the only thing keeping me sane and going. thanks for being such great grind motivation lol
woooooow that is SO so impressive!!! the cosplay and wig look absolutely amazing and your problem-solving was genius! i'm so happy i discovered your channel through that incredible and crazy wig, brb going to watch all the other process videos now!!!
First off I wanna say that this cosplay turned out beautifully and it was awesome to watch the whole process of you making it. But also it was really awesome to watch this as I’m making my first handmade cosplay of Oogie Boggie from Nightmare Before Christmas . Watching your videos has made me want to work harder on this project and one’s like it in the future. I’m just starting out making cosplays by hand but your videos encourage me to want to continue to cosplay. :)
A truly incredible cosplay build I seriously have no words!! Your dedication and craftsmanship is amazing and an inspiration and your tutorials are just so detailed and helpful?? Strawberry miku has been a cosplan since I found her and while I’ve still got a ways to go before I have the skills to build her myself, watching your videos has given me a lot of insight into how I’ll eventually go about making her :) thank you for sharing!!
This cosplay is actually insane!! I cant even explain how amazing it looks!! Absolutely amazing job!! While watching this i was working on my very first pieced quilt. I made my own pattern and its been all trial and error 😅 ive sewn a lot and ive made shirt quilts but never a traditionally pieced quilt so its an experience.
I found you on Instagram and it was so impressive that I couldn't not look up your videos, and man has it been a blast. Your videos are fun and helpful, I can't compliment it enough!
I’m in Australia and I buy my costumes but I’ve gotten into wig styling a lot more . I’m finally getting to a point where I’m no where to the point where I’m amazing but I think I’m getting good and I’ve been watching Sara for about a year and re watch her videos all the time !!

Holiday Urbosa I love that! I hope I see you in that because it sounds amazing!
@@SarahSpaceman I hope I get to yours in the flesh too! It looks GORGEOUS
Amazing work ❤
I cant word the feeling im feeling but my 'tism its vibrating
Recently got into crafting and I watched this while working on some raven wings I'm building. I've never done anything like this and I'm worried it won't work out but watching your videos has motivated me to keep going!
idk if you took a break from instagram for a mental health break or not but either way you seem so much happier now? to keep going with this project when it wasn't working out just shows a tremendous amount of strength because i think a lot of people would've given up but you stuck with it and it looks so good? sorry if this is a weird comment lol and i hope its not patronizing to say that im very proud of you
You read me like a book friend 😂 I am a lot happier now, so thank you so much for noticing ❤️
I don’t know how I got here or what algorithm sent me, but this is amazing!! You’re insanely talented!!❤
It is just insane. Great idea for the hair. Totally crazy. I love it!
THE TALENT AND DEDICATION AND SKILL THIS IS SO INSPIRING
I'm watching this while making my customers persona 3 reload costumes. I had a headache with the zippers but thanks to seeing you struggle, it elevates my pain a little bit. I love you!!!!
THREE MONTH?! OH MY GOD THAT'S SOOO COOOL
This has been inspiration to get more into the wig world! I don't know why wigs scare me so much when I'm actively hand quilting a 6 colored fur bodysuit as I watch this
I've finished an entire art piece while watching your video!
The amount of ingenuity that went into this wig!!!
I don’t know you at all, I have only just found your channel but I have watched the whole series and felt very emotional seeing it all together, the amount of work and talent is phenomenal and I can’t get over it xx
your dedication and excitement made me feel so emotional, I almost cried.
Fume free essentially is just "scent free" but it can still do damage to your lungs and other organs.
after watching this whole saga in one go i finally understood it... this is not a tutorial. its a *warning*
jokes apart the final results look sooo good, my mom never had any interest in cosplay but she sat with me for the entire skirt video, watching it in total fascination. good job!!!!!
LOL that made me audibly cackle, thank you! And thank you for the laugh!
Thank you so much!! Hope you like the other videos too!
This turned out sooooo incredible!!!
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much! Im so glad theyre helpful and I wish you the best of luck when you do finally make her!
honestly the cosplay is just so beautiful ! congrats on your hardwork !
this was so incredibly thought out and executed, well done!!!
I watch this whole project, and O.M.G it’s beautiful 😍
This cosplay is actually insane!! I cant even explain how amazing it looks!! Absolutely amazing job!!
While watching this i was working on my very first pieced quilt. I made my own pattern and its been all trial and error 😅 ive sewn a lot and ive made shirt quilts but never a traditionally pieced quilt so its an experience.
I found you on Instagram and it was so impressive that I couldn't not look up your videos, and man has it been a blast. Your videos are fun and helpful, I can't compliment it enough!
Aww! Im so glad you like them! Thanks so much!
This so relaxing and stressful to watch at the same time your dedication and patience is amazing
This is so incredibly impressive !! I teared up seeing you in the entire outfit! You should be so so proud of yourself!
I’m in Australia and I buy my costumes but I’ve gotten into wig styling a lot more . I’m finally getting to a point where I’m no where to the point where I’m amazing but I think I’m getting good and I’ve been watching Sara for about a year and re watch her videos all the time !!
