Another great camp Pat. Really enjoyed watching it. The fix on the door worked a treat. Thank you for uploading the video. Looking forward to your next adventure 😊
Thank you Demalza, this was a new area for me to camp, and really looking forward to exploring further up the valley in the coming months……….thanks Pat
Like many others Pat, it's always such a pleasure to see that you've posted a new video. You're always my go to if I want a nice, gentle video to while away a few moments and bring me a bit of sanity in this increasingly mad world. Keep it up. Pete
Thanks Pete, love it when I can get away to the hills, such a relief from life’s hectic schedule, looking forward to exploring more of the Upper Derwent Valley, once I,ve decorated the kitchen…….thanks Pat
I just want to say, Patrick, that I appreciate your sacrifice on that steep climb up. I know you are alone and had to climb it once to place the camera so you could get the great shot of your struggle for us viewers. A tip of the hat to ya, Buddy. God bless.
Absolutely amazing videos. Down to earth and true to wild camping life. I love the format and everything. Please keep them coming, I enjoy every post. 😊
Thank you so much, and just basic enjoyable wild camping is what I,am trying to portray, looking forward to exploring the upper Derwent Valley in future videos……..thanks Pat

Hi Kieran yes you are probably right, just trying to appear sensible, but its not really me....new titanium flask is on its way from China.....all the best Pat
Yes sorry that I couldn’t camp on Horse Stone Naze, but it would have been not enjoyable in that wind, and it was very pleasant down by the river……..thanks Pat
Wow, thanks!….will be out in a couple of weeks but afraid I have to refurbish and decorate our kitchen first, then I will be allowed back out……thanks Pat
That was a hard climb up through the heather, lovely views at the top. Your tent well secured at a decent spot. Your chilli looked lovely, great video Pat, as per usual.
Absolutely brilliant Pat.. great to see you out in true wilderness again. That was some climb up the naze, to come back down again! But, like you say, 'all part of wildcamping'! We adore Bleaklow.. it is a different beast isnt it? It's moody and broody, but so rewarding. That rain in the night began to remind me of your Bleaklow Stones camp when you nearly got flooded! A great little test too for all your fantasticly done mods on the tent. 👍 All the very best on your next adventure Pat. ⛺💚
Thank you to both of you, and yes Bleaklow is a tough area to camp and hike, but when you see those views it makes it all worthwhile, the paths seem to just run out, then it’s climbing through heather and bracken and bogs, but we love it……all the best Pat
Hi Pat X I've just been watching your old 2000 subs pub crawl video remember when that first came out, you are now over 51 k subs congratulations. That might be a nice one to redo at some point? Lol just because I really enjoy having a beer with you and your videos
Lovely video Pat, just reminds me what a beautiful area we have on our doorstep. I discovered your channel thanks to meeting a friendly guy by the pool while on holiday in Kefalonia. I noticed he was reading a book about The Marches and got to talking about walking. So thank you to the man and his wife from Gateshead for introducing us to this channel (sorry we didn't get your names) and I've also ordered a copy of the book!
Great to have your support, and glad you chatted to the guy in Kefalonia, and you are right we are so lucky with the Peak District on our doorstep, I intend exploring and wild camping further up the Derwent Valley in these coming months……..thanks Pat
Thanks for another great video Pat. Enjoyed it as always. Good to see you ended up having a nice wild camp in other location. Looking forward to your next adventure. Cheers 😊
Love the Derwent valley but have never got round to exploring past Slippery Stones. So it's great to see a video of this area - looks lovely, nice and remote. Great video as always.
Great video as usual Pat. pleased to hear you had a nice holiday in Poland, & I'm not surprised that you didn't have any communication problems, as i think half the population were over here in the UK a few years ago 😁. thanks John
Hi John, yes a Krakow is a lovely city , lots of history and bars and restaurants, we do have many polish people in the UK and they are well prepared having learnt English as a second language from a early age……….all the best Pat

Hi Rhonda, that is really nice of you to say, and I do appreciate it, when people say they find my videos entertaining, then I,m so pleased…….thank you Pat
Hi Pat, camping by the Derwent, great video. Who would think that river by your tent, would turn into the raging torrent, that used to power all sorts of mills that it did, further downstream. It's amazing what Mother Nature can do!
Hello there Pat, Thanks for the latest video, really enjoyed that one. I must travel down to the Peak Distict ,the shots were stunning. You might get some better weather in August....who knows!🤞 Looking forward to the next one. ATB Michael.
Thanks Michael, it’s certainly a beautiful area up the Derwent Valley and looking forward to exploring it over next months ……here’s to some better weather…….thanks Pat
How can you ever tire of those views especially at the end, Simple stunning. Genuinely find myself waiting for each video you produce very enjoyable and entertaining, Living the other side Kinder from yourself I keep hoping our paths will cross 🤞🏻
What a steep hike Pat up through the bracken and heather, finding it was far to windy.Good choice to drop down to the riverbank to spend a good night in the tent ,with the mods proving a success. just enough food looked good..Maybe you used all of the 2.5 litres of water you carried up and down the hill, rather than venturing to the riverbank to fill up !! 😃😃
Another fantastic camp Pat! 🏕 Yours are always worth the wait and are very entertaining, thank you for sharing your adventure with us. Love your cooking as always 😋. We are heading up Sunday for an adventure of our own, can't wait we have waited long enough. Take care and see you in August. 😊
Another great video Pat. I have the same tent and all of the areas you highlighted are the things that frustrate me. I’m currently binge watching all of your videos again, due to being off work after a hernia operation. Keep up the great work!
Hi Ed, hope my back log of videos keep you entertained while recovering, really happy with my tent now I,ve got all the nightly bits sorted, get well soon…..all the best Pat
Looks like a beautiful place to wild camp and explore, despite the wind and rain. I really enjoyed that video and thanks for sharing your adventure! Cheers!
Thanks Pete, so many different places to camp and certainly the last wild and isolated area in this area, it’s going to be challenging but looking forward to forward to exploring the area…..thanks Pat
"You've ad you're Weetabix?" - You're good enough to take anything on Pat 🙂 Well done mate, I had a couple of digestives and still feel hungry whilst watching this.
Wow! Another amazing video as always Pat! We never know what we are going to get but you can guarantee it will be good! Thanks & dare I say it already awaiting the next one. 😃no pressure though. Take care. ❤️xx
Hi Sylvia, really enjoy sharing these adventures, the Upper Derwent Valley is a isolated and rugged area all waiting to be explored and I’m sure there will be some great places to wild camp , looking forward to some great adventures….thanks Pat
Brilliant Pat. I had a lol moment when you mentioned some folks' rational for buying expensive lightweight gear to allow more cans to be carried :-)😆 Enjoyment is what it's all about isn't it? I cycled around an island yesterday . £6 rail return with the magic concession card plus £4 ferry. My bike carried the load for me but I just carried 1.5 l of water plus drone gear and a MacBook! All the best and thanks for another great one, a fab breakfast watch again. Enjoy your summer holidays.
Hi Terry sounds like you had a great economic trip, but like you say we do these trips for enjoyment and fun, here’s to some better weather……all the best Pat
Another extremely well made and enjoyable video Pat. You did well getting up Stainery Clough and then up to Horse Stone Naze with all your gear and water. I’ve done that the opposite to what you did - I came down lower small Clough, crossed the river and then up and up to Horse Stone Naze (almost vertical!). I then came down stainary Clough (incredibly overgrown and tough going until you’re at the very bottom. You made the right decision not to camp in that wind, it’s peaceful by the river but you don’t have the views you get on the tops. You were brave to leave your car at kings tree. I’ve seen some very shady people there in the evenings when coming back from a long walk. There really isn’t many overnight parking options for that area though. The last time I camped in that area (crow stone edge) I left my car in the lay-by opposite Langsett reservoir and came in on the cut gate path. Thanks again. Kevin
Hi Kevin yes I,am finding the area around Bleaklow and Howden very challenging, but its good to camp in new areas, each trip is a new experience, I think the lack of paths make it difficult, but the advantage is so few people and sort of virgin areas to camp, and the views are just fantastic. As for parking its getting impossible to park near apart from Kings Tree, hopefully will be OK, I,ve parked at Langsett, but fair drive fron south sheffield, other option for me is near old Snake inn gives me access to Bleaklow Stones area, luckly my car is hopefully not too attractive to car thieves, here's hoping......all the best Pat
I spent last night up on Derwent Edge, but this area might be my next outing. I didn’t realise that you could drive quite so far round the reservoirs. I might make use of Kings Tree parking for getting out onto High Stones. Cracking video as always sir 👌🏼
Hi Philip yes the road up the side of the reservoir certainly saves a bit of walking,it’s 7km from Fairholmes, just remember it’s only open Monday to Friday………thanks Pat
I really enjoyed this video Pat. It shows the real side of how things xcan change and you need to improvise. Im glad you camped where you did, it looked much nicer and tucked away. No phone signal to me is a bonus for a bit of peace from daily life. Im very envious !
I think mother nature gave you the Gail force wind as she knew rain was coming. So glad you went back down, it would have been really unpleasant at the top later on. A fab looking chilli but not to sure about the fruit and custard. Another fab video, thanks for sharing 😊
Nice one Pat, A typical Great British "Summer" camp 😂. Enjoyable as always, looked a right ol' slog dragging yourself up that hill, only to come down again.. That's the way it goes sometimes though, especially for safety. And I for one, think it's commendable you're not drinking on every camp. No one needs to drink every time they're out, and you prove that you don't need a drink to enjoy the great outdoors. (..I say that, watching this in my shed, with a whiskey 😉🥃) It looks like you put more thought in the tent than Terra-Nova themselves did in designing it. Simple, yet effective mods. Top job 👍 I'm thinking about looking into dehydrated meals thanks to you. I often carry double the water I need, (as half is for Buddy), so well worth looking into perhaps.. You're truly an inspiration Sir. And a few beers in August sounds good, as it's my Birthday that month 😉 Thank you for sharing. Take care All the best D & B 👍
Hi Dave yes a right slog, but such fantastic views, sometimes it’s difficult to adbandon a camp but far too windy up there, Still enjoy a drink but sometimes the camp is more important , look forward to seeing you in August hopefully with a bit of family history if it goes as planned…..thanks Pat
Hi Pat loved the history of the bridge thankyou for that, even though you never got to camp where you wanted the views were spectacular , really good quality video footage many thanks take care x
Great video Pat. It was windy like that when me & Dave Goodman went to Grinah Stones, in the end we dropped down and spent the night in Ronksley Cabin instead.👍
Hi Steve, yes I follow your videos and remember that one, I find Bleaklow very challenging and hard work walking across pathless moors, but maybe that is the attraction, the isolation and the views…….thanks Pat
Hi patrick. Another really enjoyable video. We were in the Peaks at a similar time! Weather totally bonkers.look forward to the next video and send kindest regards. Joe and Amanda
Hello to both of you and yes the weather is so unpredictable at the moment, but just got to go prepared for everything, Bleaklow certainly lives up to its reputation……thanks Pat
Hot food, a dry shelter and rain on the roof, very relaxing for the viewer. That simple one pot chilly meal looked just the job, Will be giving it a go.
Another great video Pat a lot of hard work and planing goes into the videos but sometimes things happen and you still manage to make a interesting video well done keep up the good work 👍
Another great video Pat. Just bear in mind anyone wanting to do this walk/camp. The access road to Kings Tree is closed every Saturday and Bank Holiday between Easter and the end of October and it’s closed every Sunday throughout the whole year. So you’ll have a few miles walk from before the visitor centre if you go at these times
Yes a good point, great for retired people who can go in the week days, also it’s the only place up there where you can leave your car overnight……thanks Pat
Super super video pat .just simple things in life are the best .love it It makes you feel like you are there when watching .we need another roast dinner video. Or pizza with ants in it .there all amazing .keep them coming for us all to enjoy 😉
Great video as always Pat and I agree with so much of what you said. Especially the 12 pack of Stella being hauled in a grands worth of Uber light gear 😂. On the subject of bleaklow, it’s definitely harder than kinder for wild camping and underfoot. Usually quieter too because once you get off the beaten track the going is hard. Looking forward to the next video.
Absolutely, its a great place to hike and camp, with spectacular views but wlking through miles of heather and braken is a real killer, and the paths just seem to disappear, but maybe that's the attraction our last bit of local widerness.....all the best Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 nothing more than sheep trods a lot of them. Walking there at night has its own pitfalls 😂 but it’s definitely a magical place, not like the lakes or Scotland but the Peak and Pennine moors have their own rugged beauty. Did you see any Hares ?
Great as always Pat 👌🏻. You made the best of unfavourable conditions. Grub looked lovely as usual too. Look forward to seeing your next video in August. Best wishes ~ Alistair.
Love the wild camp video Pat as usual . Never disappoint as well as well as making me hungry . I make my chili almost the same way except I use pasta in mine . And I put a little sugar in the tomato sauce to cut the acid. ATB Gail from Worcester Massachusetts 🇺🇸❤🇺🇸❤🇺🇸❤🇺🇸❤🇺🇸❤🇺🇸❤🇺🇸❤🇺🇸❤🇺🇸😢
I always know I will enjoy your videos before watching them! Thank you for sharing the food hydration and rehydration process. I need any advice you may have for light weight camping for my mountain expeditions here in Taiwan, food is always the heavy item to carry for me.
Hi John yes great to share my camping experiences, the dehydrated food really saves on weight and interesting to experiment with different meals……thanks Pat
I love your video Pat, time ofr a pub shrd video. I dehydrate but you got me thinking. You dehydrate your dinner and desert then have to add 900grams of water, but you carried the same weight up the hill (3kg) 🤣 perhaps just freeze it. If you were going for days dehydration is the way. I'm not being negative, it seems like a lot of effort for little gain. Thanks for sharing your experience.🙏 As for alcohol, you could dehydrate whiskey 🤣
Hi Rob this was not a good example, but the idea is carry dehydrated food all day then collect your water near your camp, that’s how it should work……thanks Pat
Great stuff Pat. Nice looking pitch that. I like a nice spot by the river. Shame you got my usual weather, but it’s handy to have drop down areas. I’m baffled by the weather and the lack of midges this year. 🤷♂️ mods on the tent looked good too. It looked really stable. I know what those tents are like. So you did a good job. 👌 Cheers for taking us along. See you out again soon. 👍
Hi Andy nice to hear from you, I always follow your camps, and yes you do seem to attract the worst of our weather ! I did think I was going to regret camping by the river due to midges, but luckily there was a breeze down there……all the best Pat
Absolute beautiful spot up there Pat, so peaceful. It's been miserable this year for getting out, not one trip has gone to plan so far. Roll on warm and sunny August :)
Got to be honest. I smacked the like on it before i even watched because i already know i will love it. Cheers Pat!👍
We all do :)

Hi there, yes the weather can change everything, but ended up in a lovely spot next to the river…….thanks Pat
I think mother nature gave you the Gail force wind as she knew rain was coming. So glad you went back down, it would have been really unpleasant at the top later on. A fab looking chilli but not to sure about the fruit and custard. Another fab video, thanks for sharing 😊
Hi Natalie, I was disappointed when I came down, but when the rain came I was so pleased I had, I’ll be working on my fruit and custard……thanks Pat
Cracking video Pat, always look forward to them, especially the pub shed, take care mate 🍻
Nice of you to say, concentrating on wild camping, but will be back in the pub shed end of the year……thanks Pat
Cheers Patrick, every video is much anticipated
Thank you Nicholas very nice of you to say……thanks Pat
Nice one Pat,
A typical Great British "Summer" camp 😂.
(..I say that, watching this in my shed, with a whiskey 😉🥃)
It looks like you put more thought in the tent than Terra-Nova themselves did in designing it. Simple, yet effective mods. Top job 👍
I'm thinking about looking into dehydrated meals thanks to you. I often carry double the water I need, (as half is for Buddy), so well worth looking into perhaps..
You're truly an inspiration Sir.
And a few beers in August sounds good, as it's my Birthday that month 😉
Thank you for sharing.
Take care
All the best
D & B 👍
Hi Dave yes a right slog, but such fantastic views, sometimes it’s difficult to adbandon a camp but far too windy up there, Still enjoy a drink but sometimes the camp is more important , look forward to seeing you in August hopefully with a bit of family history if it goes as planned…..thanks Pat
Hi Pat loved the history of the bridge thankyou for that, even though you never got to camp where you wanted the views were spectacular , really good quality video footage many thanks take care x
Glad you enjoyed it and a pleasure to share…..thanks Pat
Amazing video yet again! Looking forward to next one
Thanks Faye, such a wild but beautiful place…….thanks Pat
Great video Pat. It was windy like that when me & Dave Goodman went to Grinah Stones, in the end we dropped down and spent the night in Ronksley Cabin instead.👍
Hi Steve, yes I follow your videos and remember that one, I find Bleaklow very challenging and hard work walking across pathless moors, but maybe that is the attraction, the isolation and the views…….thanks Pat
Great video Pat really enjoyed it 😊
Thank you Stephen, good to hear…….all the best Pat
Love your uploads Patrick. Diverse and entertaining as usual... Local legend...👍
Glad you enjoyed it and nice to hear you enjoyed it……thanks Pat
Hi Pat, its good to know that you survived the wind and rain.love, Ray xxx
Thanks Ray,it was certainly wild up there, glad I dropped down to the valley bottom……thanks Pat
Good to see you back mate 👍
Thank you, nice to share my adventures…..thanks Pat
Hi patrick. Another really enjoyable video.
We were in the Peaks at a similar time! Weather totally bonkers.look forward to the next video and send kindest regards. Joe and Amanda
Hello to both of you and yes the weather is so unpredictable at the moment, but just got to go prepared for everything, Bleaklow certainly lives up to its reputation……thanks Pat
another fantastic video Pat.
Thanks Darren loved sharing it…….thanks Pat
Great video thanks Pat.
Glad you enjoyed it Andy, great area to camp….thanks Pat
Another great video! As always Looking forward to the next 🙂
Thank you and hoping to share more camping adventures from the Derwent Valley in future.....thanks Pat
Excellent Pat
Thank you, such wild open area up there……thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 it really is, very quiet though
@@1982Noddin Just how I like it .
Yes mate👍🏾👊🏽
Cheers for that, some amazing places to camp up there……thanks Pat
Hot food, a dry shelter and rain on the roof, very relaxing for the viewer. That simple one pot chilly meal looked
just the job, Will be giving it a go.
Yes they are the simple basics that will give a comfortable, warm and enjoyable night out in the hills………thanks Pat
Pat this is a great video I love your knowledge and willingness to share it! Love these explainers. ❤🎉
Thank you so much Max, it is so good to be able to share these adventures with like minded people…….all the best Pat
Hi Pat.Great camp in the great outdoors. Glad to see you out and about in your stunning hills and valleys. Atb Johnny :)
Thanks Johnny 👍 such a fantastic area to camp in…..thanks Pat
Another great video Pat a lot of hard work and planing goes into the videos but sometimes things happen and you still manage to make a interesting video well done keep up the good work 👍
Thanks Peter 👍, yes don't always go to planned in that area.....thanks Pat
Another brilliant video. 👍
Thank you much appreciated…..thanks Pat
Great video Pat as always I love that part of the Peak District 😁
Yes Mel a beautiful area, but very wild and challenging, sort of makes it very special…….thanks Pat
Another great video. I noticed there are no horses on horse stone naze, I think they have deffinitely been blown off 😆
Yes not much up there apart from thick heather, and a big rock that does not look anything like a horse………thanks Pat
Super super video pat .just simple things in life are the best .love it
It makes you feel like you are there when watching .we need another roast dinner video. Or pizza with ants in it .there all amazing .keep them coming for us all to enjoy 😉
Your right there just simply roaming round that area beats most expensive holidays, so simple but so enjoyable......thanks Pat
Nice to see you out again on a wild stormy camp Sir Pat. The food looked good as usual and the tent held up very well. Stay safe.
Thank you, I will, it certainly is a wild area to camp and hike, but I like a challenge......thanks Pat
Thanks Alistair, yes weather is very varied at the moment, so got to be prepared for anything......thanks Pat
Hi Gail yes chilli is great meal, simple to makes and provides a great meal, and we all have our variations…….thanks Pat
Hello from Indiana. Your chilli looked awesome. Cool way of bringing food along.👍
Great to hear from you Loyd, the dehydrated food really cuts down on the weight…..thanks Pat
Great video Pat.. ATB from Ontario Canada .. 🏴🇨🇦🙏🏼🍻
Good to hear from you Kenny, all the best Pat
a bottle of single malt doesn't weigh much Pat! great video as always fella 😄
Very true and pleased to say I have a new titanium whisky flask on its way from China, as for taking a bottle, I would never get home !
Fantastic camp Pat. Just love the sound track you add to the end of your videos 👍
Hi David sometimes I have difficulty matching the music, but this track fits a lot of my videos ……..thanks Pat
Love your vlogs x automatically click like. You are so interesting Patrick and they are so well made.😊
Thank you so much Sue, just love sharing my adventures and the follow up comments are a added extra......thanks Pat
Great video Pat. Ohh the British weather.
Oh yes it’s certainly gone mad this year, here’s to a better August…..thanks Pat
Great Camp for us to watch! - here in the dry…. All the best , Jan S.
Thanks Jan, we are certainly having some erratic weather at the moment, but in the Derwent Valley you can get all 4 seasons in a day…….thanks Pat
Cheers for taking us along.
Yes David the weather has been rubbish , it’s nice to find new places to camp, looking forward to more camps up the Derwent Valley……thanks Pat
Pat has soon I see your notification am on it always enjoyable and can tell that you always put a lot of research in keep them coming
Thanks Danny and it is so nice to share these adventures with everyone........thanks Pat
