If you look the "Music in this video" section in the description, you'll see that five of the six songs are credited to be part of the album "Mother Sketches for Opera". Before Johann pass, Aronofsky stated that he and the composer are turning the film to an opera, so it's logical to think that those tracks are unused and reworked themes composed for the movie adapted into the opera. If interesting how no one here or in any other place of the web are noticing that. The second track is for an album called "Athaliah", I don't find anything related with Johannson and that name, so it could be a new instrumental album he was working in.
Every year on August 15th, the spirits of the dead return from heaven to this world. There is such a culture in Japan. On a date close to that, his work seems to have been sent from heaven. I certainly take it in Japan.
I can see why Denis and Johann came to agree this wouldn't work for BR2049. This OST births its own fresh identity. It emancipates a completely new and unique charm. Denis and Hans approached it differently. They found the appropriate threshold to create a film with it's own personality but still be bound by it's predecessor.
Thank you for sharing these works! Also, if you check the 'Music in this video' section of the description, you'll see a lot of song names with 'Grace' in them. Are some of these unused works for the movie 'Prisoners'?

Is this available to purchase in Flac or anything higher quality then mp3? Itunes usually has Apple Digital Master files available, but not for this ep. I really want this. Thanks for posting. I didn't think I'd hear any new music from him. Greatly appreciated.
I very much like JJ's work - even saw him live in Brooklyn a few years back. But this wouldn't fly for the BR sequel. I think in one way it brings too much attention to itself and in another, it's fairly uninteresting. Zimmer may have his faults, but when you listen to his, and how he was able to craft new music while also paying homage to Vangelis, you can see why Villeneuve went with him.
Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2019 is the top choice. They suggest it was 'A' project, not 'projects', though I'd love to hear some of Johann's early treatments for Aronofsky's mother!
His passing is such a great loss to this world. R.I.P. a phenomenal composer.
I got so excited when I discovered him through Max Richter only to find he's passed. So sad.
Wish he was still here to give us more masterpieces.

His works are a revelation on a musical level, a prophecy. The messages are as powerful as the changes in these times. Thank you very much. RIP

On repeat!

Blade Runner meets Arrival
Anyone know what this was meant to be for?
