I've never thought Pork buns was a popular Thai street food but knowing their history it makes sense. Thai food also has Chinese inspiration aswell. And omg that Chicken soup reminds me of Chicken Pho but yes they're both not the same of course lol. Yes gotta love that Mango sticky rice one of the best desserts ever!
I grew up in Thailand and there was always a motor pad with the little cart attached riding around my neighborhood with so many kinds of food/snacks. The pork buns and the little Chinese dumplings were my fav childhood snacks! They also are there at local markets at my hometown. I don’t think I’ve seen them anywhere in the poplar tourist destinations.

This is a legit question here because I’m struggling between Eastern vs Western culture. This is no way an attack on Marion. My question is: In Asian culture it’s so culturally accepted parents/family will tell you you’re too skinny if you don’t eat enough (and it’s disrespectful if you reject their food) but also call you fat when they feed you too much. How many times has your family called you fat and how do you deal with it? I know it’s culturally acceptable to talk about weight but it does not make me feel good. I’ve told my parents how their words are rude and hurtful but they still criticize my size.
I thought that I may add this comment. My younger sister was a bit overweight when she was 8 years old. Father used to make fun of her, and she ended up suffering with Bullaemia. My respect for my father sunk even lower. Not a good outcome. 😒
i used to hear about my weight from my relatives ALL THE TIME! i was really self conscious about it until I realized that they will ALWAYS say something regardless of whether I am thin or I've gained weight. It made me realize that if they will comment whether I'm in my best or worst shape ever, how valid is their judgement anyway? Also in my case, they never treated me any differently after their offhand comments. I know this might not be easy (or even healthy, if their comments really hurt you) but I started taking their comments as their way of being affectionate and "looking out" for me. Sometimes it catches me off guard but what can you do😅 At the end of the day it is just something they grew up experiencing from their elders. Technically they should stop if you asked them to but I think they don't usually mean for their comments to stick with us
Tbh for me, ever since i was a kid, i always be the biggest kid in the class. Ofc there would be some boys be calling me names, but i never took it personally (probably bcus i was athletic too back then). My grandma is mean, very very mean with her words. She be calling her grandchildren fat (including me). Like now I'm an adult, and i still hear the same thing. But the thing is, most of the time, it made me feel like her words is just a part of her affection. She is a retired chef, so she cooked alot for us, especially during Christmas or Chinese New Year. One minute she be like "eyy why are you still fat", and the next minute when we started eating, she be like " hey ____ , eat this more, i know you like this". Like literally, if the dishes were not cleared yet by the time we finished eating, she would give everything to me. That's how she is. But in my own family, the only skinny one is my father so just imagine the words my grandmother threw to the rest of us 😂. And sometimes my siblings and i will be joking like "that's why you so fat" (bcus the 3 of us are all fatty too). But ofc, i wouldn't joke about weight infront of my friends, bcus different people have different take on joking about weight. One of my skinny friend cried when people said she gained weight (i mean, she is definitely more skinny than me so i don't see the difference). Back to your family issue, most of the time our family didn't take our words seriously. That's probably why they kept doing that to you. I'm very sorry that you have to listen to the things that made you uncomfortable all the time. I hope one day, you can set you foot down and really tell them that this is a serious issue for you. Parents should always respect their children wishes too, bcus respect goes both ways. I hope you can find more strength!

It is Chinese cuisine. We dont say Feta Cheese is a popular European dairy food do we? In any case almost all the original recipes seeds come from China and spread across the region. There are of course original dishes from other countries. Where do curry recipes come from originally?
I'm interested in making the soup with egg noodles or rice noodles. Any recommendations for good brands sold in the US? I also prefer gluten-free. Thanks!

Popular in Malaysia. Only place I usually see them where I am I Thailand is a 7/11. Plenty of frozen in supermarkets.
