Happy Training! ~Ken Животные
I've found that if I try to distract my dog like this, it freaks him out even more and makes him anxious whenever he gets a kong or nicer "distraction treat". I've started to tell him "see ya later" as a signal that I'm leavin but coming back and it's been going better since. It's a neat trick with the kong in the crate though, since dogs tend to get hyped up seeing you get ready to leave
This is a game changer idea! I feel silly that I didn’t think of it myself now that I’ve seen how eager my pup was to get down to “business” outside to get back to her crate! Thank you so much!
So simply put. Thanks for the tip!
Genius!
Cover the crate. Not seeing you leave while distracted is even better.
As soon as my dog finishes his Kong (and he's very quick to) he screams to be let out
Freeze the kong overnite
@WollongongSkyWatch some ppl have no common sense ay 😂
My dog is good until trea is gone. Then barks and barks. Help
I think there also needs to be water in the crate, to wash down that kong treat (my dogs drink a lot after a kong…).
Another tip is to freeze the Kong with peanut butter. It distracts the dog for even longer while your gone at work
But with intelligent dogs u wud only be able to do this trick twice or three times, then they won't fall for it 😄😄
My GSP puppy is 14 weeks old and when I open the front door and hold it open she shakes her head and snorts out a puff of air. She can already tell she's being invited in and wants to stay outside 😂 I imagine if I tried to do this any time I gave her a Kong she would refuse to eat it in protest. That said- crate training is going really well for us and she's so good- as long as I put her in the one specific crate (cat carrier type that is enclosed and dark and in the one place in my house (my bedroom). She still hates being in a bigger crate like one she would stay in for longer periods or a play pen. We're working on it.
I dont think thats that great, i get the feeling onve they finish itll feel to them a lot more like abandonment then just saying "goodbye, ill be back later " even if they dont know the words i think they do understand the meaning.
my dog would be barking for those 10 minutes straight and biting the crate.
it's not that complicated...
I wouldn’t get a dog if it meant leaving it in a crate 🤔
A crate is the way to teach to be housebroken and it also gives them security is like a bedroom my dogs were fifteen years old I leave it open they go in their lay down they enjoy it trust me!!
It's always been recommended
