She began singing in The Sugarcubes, an Icelandic band. Most people know Bjork from her solo stuff that came after the band broke up. This song is from their first album, Life's Too Good. I played the hell out of it when I got it. It is fantastic, and there's not a bad song on it. I'd suggest Motor Crash, Delicious Demon, Dues, but any song from the album will do, really. She is adorable and amazingly talented. She's often been identified as an artist (in the real sense; you want to see some strange videos; watch those associated with her solo work) drawing on electronic, pop, trip hop, jazz, and avant-garde music. She is one of the most influential pioneers in electronic and experimental music.
I bought this album when it first came out. For a short while, everybody was into The Sugarcubes. They played at the university and introduced themselves by saying, "We're The Ice Cubes from Sugarland." Great memories. Those film clips of the little kids wearing goggles show something that used to happen in far northern countries during the long winters. They children would strip down to their underpants, put on goggles, and walk around a lamp that put out light that mimicked the sunlight that they weren't getting.
This Sugar Cubes album is so fun and groundbreaking. And they were so good together because they had already played together for quite a while, including in a previous more hardcore format, before this came out.
First off... happy birthday tomorrow ;-) She is from Iceland and she was in the Sugarcubes before starting her solo career. She is all over all topics of art and fearless lol
Bjork is one of the weirdest yet also most talented singers ever. Super creative and powerful, from the few songs of hers I've heard. Anyhow, saw this pop up and came here to say Happy Birthday! The decades have been very kind to you! Here's to many more!
i cant belive that some one is reacting to this song in this year , this was my jam 20 years ago maybe coud you react to moore from this group in the future
"They say it's your birthday/Well, it's my birthday too, yeah!"--- The Fab Four 🎂Happy b-day to yourself & myself (10-2).♎Fun fact: if you think the Sugarcubes are *WEIRD---* wait 'til you check out solo Bjork... :D
The original version sung in Icelandic is much better even though I can’t understand a word. It was purely based on this song (on a free compilation cassette on a music magazine) that I took a friend to see them in a small club in London in the late 80s. Seeing Björk and Einstein Örn performing just a couple of metres away was amazing. We saw once again before Björk left to start her solo career.
happy birthday, Stef!!! ....Bjork is a very, very interesting singer....very much so...& an interesting performer, obviously.....theres two songs from her first solo album: "venus as a boy" & "human behavior".....very stellar songs & album.....& from this vid it sounds like youve reacted to her before, i didnt know that & im going to have to search your channel now, ha
I thought this was going to be a cover of the 1968 Beatles song, "Birthday". I never heard of the Sugarcubes, but then again, I don't follow the Icelandic Alt-music scene. But you can't mistake Bjork's powerful vocals. Don't care much for this song, but I do love BJork's 1995 cover of the 1951 song "Its Oh So Quiet" (Which is also cover a 1948 German song). BTW there is an English girl group called "The Sugababes". Also, Happy 20th Birthday, Steph!
I've always known that Bjork was in the sugar cubes band in face I have a vinyl album of theirs but I've never seen a video of the band before only seem Bjork as a solo artist and I have always thought Bjork is quite a hottie
Oh she's got MUCH stranger videos...the 1990's had so many artistic videos made by real artists. Bjork and her friends in Iceland were heavily into Surrealism.
I think it's funny that though she was never world famous, but only niche famous, that she was so entitled to just start wailing on a reporter at an airport, assaulting a reporter for taking pics and not even intruding on her personal space. Very curious. Like I can't believe paparrazi was ever a problem for her so she tried to drum it up. Stuff like that. As much as I love her vocals, that made her outcast to me.
Sohyang - I Will Always Love You를 추천 드립니다. Whitney Houston을 뛰어넘는 놀라운 실력에 경탄할 것입니다. 그녀의 어떤 곡이라도 다 놀라운 영감을 얻을 것입니다. 즐거운 생일 되십시요.

Aint NO way you are 30, though. You are "29 and holding", lol. Maybe younger... 25, 26 maybe.
