I was lucky enough to see Cherryholmes last night at the Tuscarawas Performing Arts Center and they blew me & the entire crowd away. They put on a great show and are all incredibly talented. While I'm sad they will be going their separate ways, I am excited to see what they will all be doing from here. Thank you Cherryholmes for a wonderful evening of beautiful music!
Such a well written, and performed, song. Beautiful voice, Cia, - clear as a bell. And great job on your solo, and ending of your song, Molly, - they had you dialed in just right, - beautiful job!!
It's so sad they're not still doing the family band thing. I remember when...... Thanks to WDVX for bringing them to Dumplin Valley way back when they were just getting started to tour nationally. Molly Kate was around 10 by the time they got to East Tennessee. They would practice right outside of the bus in the campground and carry on like all of the other families. Those kids were so thoughtful and respectful. It was such fun to watch the family interact with the other campers and witness the humble generosity those kids displayed to everyone that needed a hand. From gathering firewood to helping set up a family setup their campsite when they pulled in late one night. I wish I could see them one more time!
Folks, I just got an email this morning informing me that the Cherryholmes family is retiring. :( They are in Troy, NC this weekend, 1/23/11 and that is their next to last show in NC. If you get a chance to see them this year on their farewell tour, please do so as this family has the best live act in the industry. They will be missed and its a terrible loss to the Bluegrass community. Good luck to the 'First Family of Bluegrass music' the Cherryholmes.
