As such, it would challenge House away from stagnant thinking. They weren't supposed to lock step agree with him. Similarly, other doctors only stepped in when House was going too far, ex. Ignoring DNRs
If everybody just bought his theories the shows would be very short. Also, they need someone to come up with 2 bad theories for the early part of the show so house can finish with the correct one.
I’d say it’s more that they refused to push the boundaries like House. I think Foreman really wanted to best him but the others just weren’t bold enough to easily follow House’s risky methods. Also, IIRC, they would break into homes to help House’s theories but often drew the line where treatments could kill if the diagnosis was wrong.

Ugh god, you're such a douche. Dr. House DID say 'Gold sodium thiomalate'. But I guess you just wanted to flash some half-assed thinking because you thought you'd sound smart.
Gold sodium thiomalate is indeed a soluble, ionic form of gold, which makes it bioavailable and capable of causing toxic effects, unlike inert elemental gold, which is generally harmless in the body. Gold sodium thiomalate has been used historically in treatments for rheumatoid arthritis due to its anti-inflammatory effects, but it’s known to cause various side effects due to its toxicity, especially with long-term exposure. Similarly, stannous chloride (SnCl₂) can indeed be hazardous. When it reacts with water, it can produce hydrochloric acid (HCl), which can be quite damaging if it comes into contact with skin or if inhaled, causing chemical burns. Ingesting stannous chloride can lead to toxicity, impacting the gastrointestinal tract and other organs. Using either of these substances in food or daily exposure would be dangerous due to their cumulative toxic effects. Both compounds’ toxic nature underscores how hazardous even small amounts of certain chemicals can be when ingested or otherwise misused in prolonged exposures.
Whatever on everything else, stannous chloride might under the proper conditions decompose into tin and chlorine (akin to stannous fluoride in toothpaste providing fluorine to strengthen tooth enamel). The alloy of tin and gold is indeed purple.
The fun part of this episode it’s that the female doctor defended the wife over and over again that she was not capable of doing something like this because the wife clearly “loved” her husband(I seriously thought this female doctor was annoying af since she always tried to see everyone as honest, truthful and justify any possibilities of the patients doing something wrongful but most of the time she was fucking wrong)
I would do anything for a doctor like House. When you have a chronic condition that's not an easy diagnosis you get put in the fibro or m.e box, which leads to Dr.s no longer trying to look beyond the obvious. Chronic pain for over a decade, changes in visual field, ice pick headaches, dizziness, fainting a rash on my face, issues with my liver. I would do anything for a doctor like house.
Same here, except my box is panic disorder. It took 8 years for me to convince them to send me to a neurologist and find out I have a burst disc in my neck that's causing everything. 8 years of being told the symptoms were all in my head or that I was just a hypochondriac. 8 years of suffering pain and thinking I was dying multiple times a week. Pretty sure I have anxiety disorder now. Self-fulfilling diagnosis.
See when you say rash on face it makes me think butterfly rash, which just makes me think 'it's not lupus, it's never lupus!' not commenting this in a comedic way, just thought I'd share my thoughts in case that's a route that hasn't been explored / you were wondering on that side. No, they figured she was sneaking it into the hospital and either adding it to his food, or rubbing it on him as an ointment. House searched her purse and found nothing. Possibly smuggling it in her vag. In any case it would get on her hands.
Suspicion. She'd give it to him and then wash her hands, eventually people would wonder why wash them after you give it to him. So she just goes to the bathroom to avoid any scenarios like that and casually washes them to avoid suspicion

Fun fact when you hit fire alarms it sprays a dye on your fingers that doesn’t come off for weeks so that people know you pulled it when you weren’t supposed to
That would be a clever deterrent, but fortunately (or unfortunately for pranksters!), it’s actually not true. Most fire alarms don’t spray any kind of dye when activated. However, some security measures have been used in the past to identify prank pullers. In some cases, schools or public places have experimented with alarms that release a bit of ink or dye, but these are quite rare and not a standard feature. Instead, fire alarms are typically connected to systems that notify authorities and often come with surveillance cameras nearby. So, even without a visible mark, it’s pretty hard to pull one and get away without anyone noticing!
I quit watching this show because House was the only character I liked. Everyone else NEVER believed him about ANYTHING, even though he was NEVER wrong. It was absolutely infuriating. No wonder he was such a jerk. He was surrounded by incompetent nincompoops!!!
He is wrong constantly though. Watch the show and actually keep track of how many times he's wrong before he finally figures it out. Just because he finally gets it right at the end doesn't mean he's never wrong.
Question though... what would it matter about her washing her hands? If her fingers were as purple as shown, the colouration would be more than just surface level, and surely someone would've noticed her fingers were bright purple long before this moment. Even if she'd concealed them (with gloves or otherwise) prior to this moment, washing them wouldn't get the purple off with just one washing.
Gold itself is so chemically resistant, that body can't digest it and it goes through. The problem starts when it's in a salt form like in episode. It makes it water soluble, and able to disrupt bodily functions.
@@jessiefrye3045 There are colloidal gold, silver and copper preparations - I should know, I bought a copper one back in the day. Gold is usually suggested for cancer (it's useless, you'd better take turmeric supplements every day).
@@mrkiplingreallywasanexceed8311 I added 'liquid' to make it easier for people to understand what I was talking about. I could as well have said it's drinkable gold
Description error: Metallic gold is inert in the body, whereas gold salts like gold sodium thiomalate are not. While primarily used to treat arthritis, overdose can result in numerous annoying side-effects, including those described in the video.
Metallic, elemental gold is chemically inert and doesn’t interact with the body’s biochemistry, making it safe to ingest in small quantities, which is why it’s used decoratively in foods and drinks. However, gold salts like gold sodium thiomalate are quite different-they’re reactive and can interfere with cellular functions, which is why they’re effective (but risky) in medical treatments. Overdose or prolonged exposure can lead to side effects such as skin reactions, kidney issues, and gastrointestinal discomfort, among others. This distinction is essential when discussing gold's role in medicine versus decorative or culinary uses, as the reactivity of gold salts introduces both therapeutic potential and toxic risks.
It’s good and it gets tiresome because it’s always him yet he needs his team. He’s also addicted to his pills which are Vicodin, he does have a chronic pain condition. Hence why he uses a cane.

There's no Marine Base in Egypt either. There are Marines attached to the US embassy, but that's about it. There were British military bases maybe a year or two prior to 1956 as a remnant of Britain's occupation/involvement, but I never heard of an American one.
The U.S. does not have a Marine Corps base in Egypt, only a detachment of Marines assigned to the U.S. embassy in Cairo for security purposes, which is standard at U.S. embassies worldwide. Historically, Egypt hosted British military bases due to its colonial relationship with the UK, which lasted until the mid-20th century, with British forces withdrawing after the Suez Crisis of 1956. The U.S. military presence in Egypt today is limited and primarily tied to diplomatic and multinational peacekeeping efforts, like the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) in the Sinai Peninsula, but there are no American bases there.

If you watch the episode you’ll see that they are testing for all types of shit, but they can’t pinpoint it. House theorizes that it’s heavy metal poisoning, but because there isn’t any heavy metals popping up, he suggests it might be a rare metal. So he has them test the patient for gold in his blood, and does this scene as well.

Ive heard of gold diggers. But holy crap. It is poetic. (Look for the layers lol.)
racist!
@@Mug1war4the2ndwhy did you call them a racist? They did not call out a single race in their comment. Just gold diggers???
The fun part of this episode it’s that the female doctor defended the wife over and over again that she was not capable of doing something like this because the wife clearly “loved” her husband(I seriously thought this female doctor was annoying af since she always tried to see everyone as honest, truthful and justify any possibilities of the patients doing something wrongful but most of the time she was fucking wrong)
Cameron is a psychotic bitch and what she did to Chase is unforgivable lol
M.e, orthostatic Intolerance, and a few other things here. I hear you both!
See when you say rash on face it makes me think butterfly rash, which just makes me think 'it's not lupus, it's never lupus!' not commenting this in a comedic way, just thought I'd share my thoughts in case that's a route that hasn't been explored / you were wondering on that side. Hope you are doing well.

The payoff of every sleuthing show. Whether Hercule Poirot or House. Or even Lieut. Columbo. The big reveal. Deducing the guilty party. To their dismay.
Colombo isn't a good example -- the show revealed the guilty person at the beginning of every episode. A lot of people found that annoying!

In my opinion House was the best medical series on tv ever. Non of the rest could touch the stories they told in this show.
It’s basically a medical Sherlock Holmes
Dick Van Dyke had a show years ago in which he was a doctor and his son was on the police force, detective I think. Dick Van Dyke was always getting involved with his son's cases and helping to solve them. Great show I was sad when it went off the air.

In the opening second of clip when he hits the door open weirdly with his hand its gota be because he doesnt want that detection stuff rubbing off on the door 😮
That’s why he speaks for so long holding her hand. It needs time to react before she washes her hands.
The only problem with what house said is that there is no marine base or any other base for the US in Egypt 😅
House lied to buy some time and bust the wife. Thats nothing but ordinary to the doc

House is the perfect doctor. He always has an answer for everything within an hour. Try getting results like that at your local hospital.
Maybe not Local. But The Mayo clinic in Jacksonville Florida has a few doctors like House. ✅

My childhood doctor could diagnose before labs, xrays or cts results, he happens to be friends with us cause he was my father classmate. I've seen many doctors, not treating me, that always had to wait to lab results and so on.
Well, y9u see that's the magic of him being a FICTIONAL character.
So she hasnt gone to the bathroom or washed her hands since she last gave her husband cereal.
No, they figured she was sneaking it into the hospital and either adding it to his food, or rubbing it on him as an ointment. House searched her purse and found nothing. Possibly smuggling it in her vag. In any case it would get on her hands.
Nah, she just kept dosing him in the hospital.
Right? Lol
@@miguelpixley6296she had just fed her husband again. This series is phenomenal I've watched it over like 5x in completion.
Suspicion. She'd give it to him and then wash her hands, eventually people would wonder why wash them after you give it to him. So she just goes to the bathroom to avoid any scenarios like that and casually washes them to avoid suspicion
Being a genius puts you on a whole different level socially. Difficult to communicate with people. Social skills are not a part of their personality. But the world needs more doctors like this.
It’s a show.
Hospitals don’t really have full departments just for making diagnosis.
I know someone who was told by MENSA that his IQ is 172. He never brags about this either. He LOVES to socialize and have parties/gatherings. We've been friends for almost 50 years!
Fun fact when you hit fire alarms it sprays a dye on your fingers that doesn’t come off for weeks so that people know you pulled it when you weren’t supposed to
It’s a very fine mist that you can’t really feel. That’s why you always wear gloves when you’re doing crimes.
I don’t know why I stopped watching House, but I wish I hadn’t.
He was always in severe pain.
I want to do Cuddy ❤😂
He is wrong constantly though. Watch the show and actually keep track of how many times he's wrong before he finally figures it out. Just because he finally gets it right at the end doesn't mean he's never wrong.
He misdiagnosed once and Chase stopped him from amputating a kid's arm
Question though... what would it matter about her washing her hands? If her fingers were as purple as shown, the colouration would be more than just surface level, and surely someone would've noticed her fingers were bright purple long before this moment. Even if she'd concealed them (with gloves or otherwise) prior to this moment, washing them wouldn't get the purple off with just one washing.
The fact that people drink colodial (liquid) gold because they think it cures diseases...
This plot could have gone a different direction
That's Colloidal Silver.
@@jessiefrye3045and also colloidal doesnt mean liquid😂
Gold itself is so chemically resistant, that body can't digest it and it goes through. The problem starts when it's in a salt form like in episode. It makes it water soluble, and able to disrupt bodily functions.
@@jessiefrye3045 There are colloidal gold, silver and copper preparations - I should know, I bought a copper one back in the day. Gold is usually suggested for cancer (it's useless, you'd better take turmeric supplements every day).

100 percent the best show ever on TV. I recently watched all 178 episodes over again and now I have no good shows to watch.
One of these days I really need to binge watch this show, it seems so good!
I'm on Season 7 now. 😊
It is.
It’s on Netflix. Enjoy
It’s good and it gets tiresome because it’s always him yet he needs his team. He’s also addicted to his pills which are Vicodin, he does have a chronic pain condition. Hence why he uses a cane.
He did the forensic test without her knowledge , he's doctor and detective .
Its more specifically gold sodium thiomalate that's ionic and toxic. Gold in its elemental state is completely neutral.
House should be in CSI.
Adds a new dimension. 😊
Reminds me a little of The Mentalist and his team of detectives/agents.
He probably can’t since he’s also an addict.

Samantha Mathis's eyes are impossibly blue.
You may not know it but blue filters are often used for actors with blue eyes, especially in close ups, to enhance already fair blue eyes. Hers must be exceptional already, but they are likely altered in this instance.

Gold leaf for food is different from the gold ions that can bind to your cells and cause damage
Elemental gold is very resistant, it cant really dissolved in the tissues. But, if its ionic gold, it dissolves easily and becomes toxic.
Normal gold is food safe - i mean, many people have some gold in their mouths.

Clever writing
Why would you try something that reveals gold if you’ve never heard someone use gold for heavy metal poisoning?
If you watch the episode you’ll see that they are testing for all types of shit, but they can’t pinpoint it. House theorizes that it’s heavy metal poisoning, but because there isn’t any heavy metals popping up, he suggests it might be a rare metal. So he has them test the patient for gold in his blood, and does this scene as well.
Was that the first time her hands turned purple? She was smart to put stannous chloride mix with gold, and not to know her hands turned purple, she never washed her hands before after sprinkling her husband cereals?

😂😂it is poetic because, in the past, gold was believed that if you drank it you'd be immortal or have longevity at least.
People who make comments on these obviously haven't watched House aside from the shorts and clips or only heard of it through friends.
