Imagine over 600 VW Buses gathering in a beautiful lakeside campground, with their owners spending three magical nights together. Sounds like a dream, eh? Believe it or not, this is the real deal, happening annually in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. We think Buses by the Bridge is one of the best VW-oriented camp/family/get-together events, welcoming all generations of Type 2s. This campout should be on your VW bucket list, whether you are a camper/Bus enthusiast or not.
In 1991, the first Buses by the Bridge (BBB) welcomed less than 50 Buses, making it a small local camp-together event. It was created by John "VW" Howard of the London Bridge Bullis (LBB) VW club, based in Lake Havasu City. It took another five years for the second meet to be hosted, when Ronnie Feitelson (another LBB member and the owner of local VW shop Bustoration) joined the team to help organize BBB again. Since then, BBB has always been held in January, except for 2021 as the event was canceled due to the pandemic. This year, the happening finally marked its 25th event.
Unlike other Bus only events, BBB is not an air-cooled-only affair. As long as you own a VW Bus, Transporter, Van, Microbus, Vanagon/Caravel, Eurovan, and even the latest T6.1, you will be welcomed. So, you don't own a Bus? No problem! LBB provides a huge general parking lot right next to the campsite for non-Bus Volkswagens. Saturday and Sunday welcome a relatively large VW show.

Hey, im from Germany and a Mechanic. Still nowadays i like repairing VWs, its not as easy as it was 50 years ago but much easier as working on subaru & Co. I love to see the passion on VW on the other side of the ocean…its making me feel in common🙂

When it's freezing, snowing & my bus is tucked away in my garage, I come back to watch these. One of these years, I'm going to make the trek from Pennsylvania to BBB. Looking forward to seeing footage next week form BBB 2024!
