It is typically a mixture of both AML and ALL. It is important to distinguish the predominant cells using immunophenotyping and staining using Sudan Black and MPO. It has a poor prognosis worse than both ALL and AML but treatment regimen is particularly similar: chemotherapy using vinca alkaloids and anthracycline.
