Good to know that both HPS and MH are still very useful. LEDs get way too much praise.
LED's are expensive
Great vid. Very clear and packed with information. Much appreciated.
Thank you for posting this short and clear. I have the metal halide bulb before high pressure sodium I forgot what the color range should be.
anytime
Thank you P.G you've answered my questions
QUESTION: Do the "conversion" bulbs I see advertised then accomplish the purposes of the 2 different bulbs? Do these bulbs have a way of switching from one to the other? One conversion bulb I saw said it needed a MH ballast....important? And what size watt bulbs would you recommend for a 12"x24" planter box? 100? 400? 1000? [I have only a north side exposure, so my recently transplanted small plants here in Florida are hurting from only indirect sun, and even in summer, only 2-3 direct hours.]
Well Done. Many so called 'experienced growers' can not EXPLAIN the difference between MH v HDS or when to use each one.

I know
Fortunately, the future is high pressure sodium, the industry standard. The golden glow renders Georgian (18th Century) and, indeed, all brick structures so beautifully.
The frost on my high sodium light is flaking off on the inside of bulb does that mean it's bad?
That is very interesting! Any reliable scientific source to understand more about the changes of the natural changes of sun spectrum? Thanks in advance.
Great video right to the point great job!!
:)
Very informative, thank you!
Any time
great information, high pressure sodium for buds, yes, yes, yes!
:)
I've vegged with the same 1000watt hps for the last 9 months and I had a crop before that from on the same bulb, personally I've always seen faster growth rates with hps and also encourages easier transitions to flowering
Yes, there are many that say this as well
Same here.
100% agree
I have notice the stem does some as strong, then under the hps they thicken up
Blue prevents stretching because the plant thinks its canopy is getting full sun so it doesn't reach. Red makes it think its under another plant so it stretches. I'd call it more stretching than growing. I start flower under blue till week 3 almost so the stems don't stretch. I only got 8 foot ceilings. Hps begins the 3rd week of flower.
great video thank you!
any time:)
what is the value of capacitor for 400W metal halide lamp?
Good video
Short and to-the-point
I do have a question though.
There's all kind of videos on how not to use a large HPS in a small ballast but can you use a small bulb in a large ballast:
1000w-bulb in a 600 ballast-NO...
But what about a
600w bulb to a 1000w
ballast.???
Yes if the 1000w ballast dims down. If you run a 1000w watts through a 600w bulb it will burn out quick
Mark
I didn't know this info
Right now im vegging with a hps bulb plants are only 2 weeks old
One of my ballast has a switch that says H.P.S AND M.H and the other ballast does not can i still run a M.H bulb on my 1k ballast setup if it dosent have the M.H switch?
if the ballasts look the same and they sound like they are the big heavy ballast then no, bit if it is a digital ballast then yes
mark
thankx for the info.
anytime
good info thanks

Hi, I have a pot of leaf plant and I want it to survive the winter inside so can you please tell me which is the smallest metal halide I can use for that and how far it should be from the plant? Please answer.
If you have a small set up just use HPS
Don't waste your time on MH
Mark
thank you. I wish to know if the ballast is the same for the two bulbs... ?
+Alan Wellman Newer digital ballasts can run either lamp and some can run different watt lamps as well!
+Alan Wellman yes
Will this light bulb fit and work inside a regular home light socket ? Or does it require a special fixture?
No
You need a special fixture like this one

THANK YOU...
Anytime
What about Son T bulbs? Allegedly developed as a dedicated grow light, but how do they compare with MH and HPS?
Are you talking about Son - T from Philips?
@@PerfectGardensTV That's them.
Will those lights grow things other than pot? Or are they pot only bulbs?
Apologies for the late reply. These are meant for gardening applications so the answer is yes, absolutely it will work for other plants. There are no bulbs that are only meant for pot. It all comes down to the light cycle your specific plant requires. All plants adapt to the sunlight. Figure out what kind of sunlight your plants thrive in and get the appropriate bulbs to create the best environment.
Awesome!!!!
:)
One way to increase output from metal halides is to break the outer glass which gives off more UV for your plants.
That sound like it is true but is sound supper dangerous too
Mark
Danger Will Robinson.
What about mercury vapor bulbs? Are they useful anywhere here?
Sorry it took so late reply
Not really
gracias
Your Welcome
I work for the hospital and I once removed a broken high pressure sodium lamp from someone backside
was he using it for sexual pleaser?
@@PerfectGardensTV it was difficult to tell what he was using it for but. I think he was trying to brighten up his day🤣
can we use both bulbs with the same ballast eti.
Yes if it is a digital Ballast
mark
Doesn't matter which bulb you use to veg or flower, you have to manipulate the light schedule.
the plants do look better under the HPS from experience sorry for the late reply
Can the bulbs be used with the same unit?
Hey Kim, I shot a video explaining the answer to your question. Please let me know if this is what you were meaning. Thank you ruclips.net/video/22-ybiFwLP0/видео.html
is a mh 450w good enough for veg
ye
Can u flower with mh
Yes but it's not ideal and the stems will be really weak
use both bulbs! Watch lex Blazer's video on bulbs, much more informative,.
:)
Zazur High Pressure Sodium
:)
I think now LED grow light is better. they are full-cycle, full spectrum. do not need any ballast, long lifespan, bu little expensive than HPS/MH loool. I am now using MEIZHI LED grow light
Putnam Lisa how is the meizhi led working out for you? I'm thinking of getting 1 or 2. Thanks
It works well, super bright. I get much resin tight buds. the oldest one bought on March this year. still work well. they provide 1-year warranty. One word: cost-effective lol. As far as I know, they sell on amazon and on ebay only. you can go there to see more details lol
Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it.
LED's have come a long way, Our understanding to the plants have come a long way too
Mark
cream ninja
thank you
dude don't be bulb shaming. lol
