  • @unrulybotany gifted me this massive florida green bush that unfortunately couldn't fit as is in any spot in my space, so I had to separate them-- but no ragerts! my apartment is overflowing with florida greens now and it's pretty magical. It was definitely a challenging repot, with a few casualties as expected, but I'm glad I checked off at least one big plant repot to celebrate the beginning of Spring!

This video made me so happy and it came at the PERFECT TIME. Two nights ago I found a Florida Green at my local drug store for $14.99! It was by far the best find I have made in my little town. Prior to this the only plant I have found locally that even came close to being uncommon was a (mislabeled)Costa Farms basket of Hoya Crimson Princess… Finding a Florida has definitely been the highlight of my week! 😁 BUT I really haven’t heard anyone talk about them so I’m super excited to have watched this video and even more excited to watch my new plant grow and hopefully get some of these stunning mature leaves!

Happy frog soil actually has mycorrhizae as one of its amendments! Maybe thats why roots love it so much

That is absolutely stunning, it looks so healthy. Pudge cracked me up with his uninterest on the drink.

"I haven't got space for this big plant. I will divide it and then I can have three of them." Relatable.

Florida Greens are so tough. I had to trim mine aggressively as it toppled over in my shelf and snapped my Hoya AH014 at the roots in half which almost killed it! The Florida is now on the floor, very tall with giant leaves and happy despite I give it very little care. You'll have three giant plants in your house, lol.

If you carefully take the babies off you can root them. Ive done it with a black cardinal in pon.

Using some soil from the existing root ball probably inoculates the new soil with any beneficial fungi or microbes that are there. As long as you are throwing some organic fertilizer in I would think you would be ahead of the game. My Florida Green has gone buck wild. I need to chop it and make a bush like you had.

Hi! Your Florida Green is gorgeous!
You know how sometimes a moss pole is floppy and weak? Maybe we can shove a bamboo stake inside the back of the pole? Then when it's filled in with moss, it will be invisible...? Anyways, don't worry about breaking up your big plant, I'm sure it will grow and fill in 💚

Really enjoyed this repot. I recently purchased the Philodendron Pink Princess and the White Princess at a very good price. So i am new to these type of stems where they grow apart and hoping it won’t grow at a 360 like you mentioned. As i turn my plants around alot so they grow evenly not just one side that grows and bare at the back. At the moment i have it attached to a bamboo stick as these plants likes to grow upwards. So i still don’t know what way to repot and style this plant with these stems.

Watching and cringing as each one snaps. Also- dirt in the socks is the WORST. …second only to snapping off a leaf.

I just had the same experience trying to separate a monstera I bought a few days ago! It was way too full for my space because I know how much they spread out when the get bigger, so I decided to separate each piece and just keep one or two of them..Easy, right??...um, NO, definitely not😵 all of the root systems were so bound up that it took a whole hour and a mound of broken roots before I could get it down to TWO plants that I just didn't have the patience to separate any further😅 they definitely look a tad wilty today😬😂
