What you have done with the storage containers is just brilliant. Really well thought out and perfectly implemented. I like the way you have created a system for organising everything by categories. Pretty damn impressive.
I think this is how "Q" from 007 started: "I can build anything, I just need a better system"...Utility is a HUGE thing. My first show was our two car garage. Wife's rule: You can have WHATEVER TOOLS YOU WANT...as long as BOTH cars fit in the garage at night. So everything was on wheels, piano hinges, pulleys, whatever. 15-20 min of setting up the tools to start, work and 15-20 min to change or shut down/cleanup. The overhead was killing my hobby! New shop keeps it all ready to go (at the sacrifice of portability which your super-spy cases handily fix!) I am so happy for you! Every time you use your "family" of tools, you will smile even more. Just Awesome!
I have no idea how I even found your channel but I am SO glad I did! Please don't take this the wrong way - but you are absolutely adorable! I realize most grown women don't want to be seen as "adorable", but I don't know how else to describe you. I started with the video of the new house, and I'm now watching the espionage boxes... and I just love you! The joy you find in the simplest, silliest things makes me smile, and Lord knows we could all use a few smiles lately. You seem to be extremely creative which I highly value and appreciate, and I can't wait to watch you bring both the house and the workshop back to life so that they work for you. Fantastic job on revamping these cabinets - You think the way I do. We need it to work, and work well, but we also need it to be easily adaptable. There's no point in spending more time reorganizing than actually "being creative", or actually working when we need to lol. Adorable! 🤣 *** ETA- Girl, EVERYONE that has a use for this system is going to want it. Please, PLEASE, Make sure they are locked up with a good alarm system on the building - or a big dog, whichever works for you - cuz I know I think it's amazing and I don't even really have any use for it 🤣. Although believe you me, as a crafter and small time DIYer, I would certainly put it to work should it happen to fall into my lap. How lucky are you? This is awesome!
I'm not sure I've ever seen someone so happy! Such an amazing makeover to the shop, it's obviously going to be more functional, and even if it didn't, just the joy it brings you, the creativity, the happiness of being in a well set up space, it would all be worth it just for that. Can't wait to see more of it and how you grow it over time!
I love how altruistic you are, the fact that you view organizing your shop as a favor to the space combined with that bench you repaired, just one of the many reasons I’m always so excited to see what your next video is about. Can’t wait to see you start working with this new system!
Incredibly efficient and so cool! Love the powered stations in the drawers, that's an absolute dream. Your shop is becoming like something out of a documentary of a master maker, can't wait to see more!
I'm not sure how I missed this one Laura but WOW! I'm franticly searching for "James Bond Spy Cases" on ebay! Obviously no luck but such a cool 2nd life for those crates in your shop. I whole-heartedly agree about taking the time to make working in your shop efficient and enjoyable. Keep up the awesome work!
Dear Laura, What you are doing, I did a few years ago when I retired. You are going to LOVE this way of working! I built my own cart/case storage units. For example, I have a cart just for "things that drill." It has all of my bits, chargers for my cordless drills, drills themselves, and there is a drill press on the top. It can go anywhere and plug in anywhere and I can also take it outside. I love my shop now! Now, ANYTHING that is used for drilling can be found in that cart only. There are other carts that work the same way, e.g. "things that saw." Your "family" concept is the way to go! Best Wishes, Tom K.
You have created the shop of my dreams. True, we build different things, but the organization!!! It gave me chills of excitement! Your joy brings me joy and your projects inspire my own! So happy to have found your channel! Also, I love hearing all the German language spoken!
This is great. Please consider potential fire protection when keeping things powered all the time though. Even if that just means removing all power at night. I suffered a fire that destroyed my workshop and business from one cable left powered overnight. I'm sure it will be fine, but it doesn't do any harm to consider these things before they happen!
Obviously, also watch that things don't get too hot in an enclosed drawer. Many drawers had holes but might need some ventilation holes in the case or, worst case, a small case fan for cooling.
saw a tv docu about the full trottle saloon , that was build every year and added ontoo for the sturgis event the whole thing burned to the ground due to one extention cord ruclips.net/video/sZGBKwplkeI/видео.html
Oh my god! Laura! i mean WOW!, fitment for lowest common denominator! YES!!! Grouping by materials application YES!!! And they're on wheels! YES!!! you have created the holy trinity and a bench mark for how truly good a shop can be designed. Congratulations on doing the impossible AND sharing what will inspire and dare i say improve the lives of makers everywhere, a sincere thankyou! Bravo Laura!!!! Bravo !!!!!!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
for your velcro backed sanding discs, to make them easier to align, have the pads stacked using 3 or 4 dowels. this way when you place the sander down on top to pick up next one the vent holes line up perfectly
Just love the way you design and organise your workshop…. Think this is the BEST critique so far and now newest element…. Mobility…. That’s magnificent👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼😎🇦🇺
So jealous of those cases. Super useful and downright beautiful! Would be cool to integrate the front door panels that you removed for the tools you hang on the walls. That way if you need to take those along you unhook the panel from the wall, connect to the front of a box, close it up and take it as well! Looking forward to seeing you use these long into the future!
Cool futuristic storage system! really like it... you probably won't see this comment but as a guy that has done industrial controls wiring it's not a good idea to tin your wires like that with solder and then put it into the screw terminals. it's strictly forbidden because of fire risks and shock hazards. the idea is that you have two metals that have different melting points and expansion rates in a physical connection and they can, over time as the current heats up the wire, cause the connection to degrade and become a fire risk. it's actually a very similar idea to why the backstab connections on electrical outlets cause fires at an elevated rate. bad connection increases resistance which increases the heat at that point. anyhoo be safe and keep rocking out. (also, if you want to be super duper industrial controls level you can go with ferrules that you crimp on to those wires and they will withstand being moved around from terminal to terminal many times without degrading.
Seeing you sat in the middle of your storage systems with a huge smile on your face is fantastic. It's great to see you in your happy place, just lovely.
Storage and organization is important too. Too many of us just try to find an immediate, quick solution for these one or two things. Too many people to do not take the time to find a solution for EVERYTHING. Congratulations on doing that. This too is vital work. And the person who appreciates it the most is you. That is also important. Thanks, and now I will go into my shop and try to tackle a corner. It is not everything but it is a start.
Awesome! I love the drawers and the built in power. I know Adam Savage says that it is where tools go to die, but it is just nice not having to hang everything.
I absolutely love your delight in these boxes. Not surprised, they are such a wonderful and exciting find. Well chosen storage leads to more comfortable making. I know you know this. It is so good to be able to put your hand out knowing the tool you need is just there. Lets the creativity flow.
The way you described your old system, it's hard to believe you've been so creative and productive with it! 😅 Love the new system!!! Congrats on the big change ♥
Like a custom-made workshop. What a bonanza of storage system. This is a huge game changer for all workshop builders even if they don’t luck out with a purchase of the cases. You are the perfect one to have bought those cases!!! Wow!🦌💌🙏
SUCH A GREAT ARTIST. I AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT ORGANIZING THE SHOP. I HATE IT WHEN IT TAKES ME TO LONG TO FIND SOMETHING I NEED. TIME IS MONEY. BEING ORGANIZED CUTS DOWN THAT "FIND-TIME". LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR NEXT ARTISTIC PROJECT. FROM THE STATES AND 70YRS OLD BIKERMAMMA. BEST OF LUCK.
You are a lucky genius..Lucky for such a find..and genius for knowing how to utilize them. The thing about them always having a power.. It would give so much space for creativity.
That's a thing of beauty. It's time for me to get a new rollaway. but yours is just beautiful. I commented before I finished watching. OMG! Power and portability too. That is awesome. You will get so much use out of that. Its going to be such a pleasure to grab a fully charged tool. That's cool!
Well done Laura! That is an amazing find, and will help you immensely in your organising of the shop. Just the joy on your face, and in your voice is worth much more than the insane price you paid. Adam S will be so envious !!!
I'm not an organized person in day to day life and gotten worse since my lower leg amputation. But in the tools department (due to my career...machinist) everything is cleaned and put away EVERY night. Time is money so to speak. Next time I move I'm organizing into 3 different tool chests (minimum) that are color coded. Red is SAE, Blue is Metric, Yellow is precision... Then I'll have seperate boxes in the welding area, soldering/wiring, machine shop, carpentry, etc. Think I might actually kill for the system you have, but unless someone was harming my family its not worth the time. Congratulations on the incredible purchase Laura.
I doubt that I’d ever have a workshop that needs some sort of tool organising system, but listening to how you decided to organise your tools to fully utilise these crazy spy boxes brings me joy! Keep doing what you’re doing.
I always like to see repurposing of items. I just bought 2 surplus hospital dispensing storage racks, (Pyxis supply cabinets 317). I appreciate your videos and tips and tricks! Thanks again Tim from Kentucky
Fantastic organization!... I dont have anything like you do,, but I sure could use a large tool case to organize everything together. Being more functional makes the work more functional/easy.
That's a nice find storage containers I like what you did with the keeping the electrical so you can reuse and especially having it mobile so you can do the work
Thank you for this great video! I've read through a lot of these comments, and I realize we all have something in common. We all have mild Obsessive Compulsive syndrome, and we all enjoy the satisfaction of a well-organized and well thought-out set-up. I think we're all hugely jealous of you, Laura!
Laura, your pure enthusiasm, positive energy and good karma always brings joy to me when I watch you work. Congratulations on the great find and the effort you put into your workspace. May it bring you many happy days creating and building! Bravo
Subbed for these boxes, great stuff. As a mechanic of 20 years there is nothing better than getting that perfect organised set up. Well done and also subbed!
Looks Great, and so functional. In my new atelier space. I decided every Friday For 2 hours will do shop improvements. I see the work space as my living room/diningroom. I eat .rest.work. Having good time there. So the space needs to look and feel good, it has to be a space where I like to be and bring friends over.. my mindset of a good workshop
dang. That is a hell of a setup. I like your organization. You really lucked out with those boxes being as awesome as they are. Your workshop life will be greatly improved.
Such a fun bunch of problems to have! 😀 The fact that they are uniform modular units means that if you need to shuffle the stacks, you can do it easily. For me, an important part of organization is what I call ergonomics. My definition of this is that everything should be easy and comfortable to get to when you need it. I don't ever want to have to move something out of the way to get to something else. These boxes should make that very easy for you. A great upgrade to your shop and your excitement about it is obvious. 😁 Thanks for sharing!
one thing you could add is table surfaces over those boxes that alows you to ride those box towers under , might be too high to work on but does allow you to lay a lot of stuff out on while working
I'm honestly envious. I'm having a similar dilemma in my current job. I service elevators in Australia. I just received a new company van that's twice the size of what I have had in the past. I also just got a few Wera tool kits that I'm absolutely loving, but I have a more tool bags than my wife has handbags. I need to cut down on what I'm having to carry around, so I'm pulling my hair out trying to cut down on what I need & don't need. What you have done here looks so awesome. 👌👌👍👍
Wow. I am utterly impressed with both your total positiveness and the result of your work shop. I am also, more than a little, envious of you.😉 Good job and I look forward to see more.
Who knew I was going to learn a new German phrase to amaze my coworkers with?!! Not only are you an amazing maker, you teach (for me) foreign language! Great use of those cases, by the way.
The shot of you sitting on the shorter stack between the two taller stacks illustrates a possible 4th design element: furniture. Give yourself two or three short stacks between tall stacks, toss a couple of throw pillows into the mix, and now you have a couch/loveseat to sit in while you ponder the next project...
When you spoke about how the grinders have to go with the files because they´re both abrasive you hit a nerve. 10/10 would use this system. I first misstook the micromotor for a soldering station, which could also be handy for smaller jobs ;) Small ingeniuos ideas, beautifully portrayed and explained in this video. Thank you for sharing!
Good evening Laura, that storage solution that you have come up with is fantastic and it’s also the ultimate in recycling as well because you have taken something that was used for something quite out of the ordinary and have repurposed it for something that is by far something more sensible and practical and completely useful and can be changed around to suit your work requirements of which is very excellent indeed and until your next video on Sunday next week TaRa for a bit.
Dear Laura, I've been doing the same with simple Bosch L-Boxxes. The advantage is that they're not super heavy and bulky and I can also carry them over stairs. The only problem I have, and I guess you will experience it as well if you go mobile, is that you always need to have a "base stack" of boxes with you. Bringing your angle grinder + abrasives onsite is the one thing, but you will always need the box with your pliers, screwdrivers, measurement tools etc. with you. It's not a bad thing, but just something to consider.
I love how ridiculously happy you are with your new system, and I’m sure your shop heaved a big sigh of relief to be so clean and organized.🐝🤗❤️

Modular, repairable, and upgradeable is the mantra. Now you've added mobile and made an amazing system. So cool Laura. Great use of a unique find.
Explanatory, is the correct word with perfect pronunciation. Your English is amazing, Laura.
Better than a lot of English speakers, that's for sure!

Laura, du bist einfach so sausymphatisch.
These storage boxes are so perfect! Good wheels and ability to rearrange the stack is very cool! Sharp looking and uniform as well 🌟💪🏻👍👏🏻

Einfach nur sooooooooooooooooooo Mega! Auf-Rollen, die Optik, die Verarbeitung, die Story, der Foodprint Ansatz, Strom..... Krass.
Dear Laura,
What you are doing, I did a few years ago when I retired. You are going to LOVE this way of working! I built my own cart/case storage units. For example, I have a cart just for "things that drill." Your "family" concept is the way to go!
Best Wishes,
Tom K.
I love the shallow drawers! Great for keeping things easy to find and not over stuffing them!
This is the content I live for. You've done an unbelievable job! (Don't tell Adam, but I think you're system is better.)
The storage we all dream of!
Good to consider.
Yes, please - make sure that you are fire safe!
Obviously, also watch that things don't get too hot in an enclosed drawer. Many drawers had holes but might need some ventilation holes in the case or, worst case, a small case fan for cooling.
all shops should be equipped not only all compulsory fuses, but also thermo fuses - a few euro cent per piece and you sleep better...

Brilliant! the greatest frustration for me is preparing each tool for work, and you are all set. Brava!

Respect for inanimate objects... YES! 🎉
Organizing & systems also settles our busy minds.
Those cases are most excellent!🤗
The way you described your old system, it's hard to believe you've been so creative and productive with it! 😅 Love the new system!!! Congrats on the big change ♥
The old system was “creative” 🤪
Those boxes are an amazing find and incredible tool storage.
Great use of a very good find.
You hit gold buying storage like that it will last you a lifetime and it looks awesome.Congrats you deserve to have nice things
Listening to you squeee over the storage cases just warms my heart.
That empathy with the space… just love it. And the boxes are awesome.
When our shop is clean and well organized, our soul is too 🙏🏻

This is easily the coolest shop storage on the planet. the built in power and mobility is my favorite element.
Looks awesome. Best part is how happy and excited you are. Admit I'm a little sad the old labels are gone. They were cool. lol
Absolute genius!!! I so admire your mind, your brilliance, heart and beauty. You are a complete delight and wonder. ,💞

You are an inspirational international living-treasure. IILT. That's you, Ms. Kampf!
This is THE best video on storage - I love your thinking.
Awesome...nothing better than a good shop improvement! So nice...
Subbed for these boxes, great stuff. As a mechanic of 20 years there is nothing better than getting that perfect organised set up. Well done and also subbed!
you have such a gracious attitude and inspiring disposition. Its wonderful seeing you so joyful when working on things youre passionate about, Laura
I am listening to this video while organizing my tools and yes, this is an important job that just have to be done.
Your enthusiasm as so contagious. I find myself sitting here with the biggest of smiles. Thank You!
Wow ,I'm speechless , follow love whit you and your shop!
Love the way your mind works, glad to know I'm not the only analytical, methodical nut!
Very nice shop setup. Can't wait to see more videos. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Keep making. God bless.
You rock! Lots of work to organize such a big shop as yours. Love your videos! Hope you get a million subscribers soon.
Your smile says so much!
You are like a kid on Christmas Day I love It.Wish i had such a place to work out of,GREAT PURCHASE
When you spoke about how the grinders have to go with the files because they´re both abrasive you hit a nerve. 10/10 would use this system. I first misstook the micromotor for a soldering station, which could also be handy for smaller jobs ;)
Small ingeniuos ideas, beautifully portrayed and explained in this video. Thank you for sharing!
I'm 65 and a DIY everything. I am jealous of your storage system.... I want one❣️❣️❣️❣️
So happy to see you so happy ☺️
Good evening Laura, that storage solution that you have come up with is fantastic and it’s also the ultimate in recycling as well because you have taken something that was used for something quite out of the ordinary and have repurposed it for something that is by far something more sensible and practical and completely useful and can be changed around to suit your work requirements of which is very excellent indeed and until your next video on Sunday next week TaRa for a bit.
Dear Laura,
I've been doing the same with simple Bosch L-Boxxes.
