Exactly, first and foremost a game should be fun. It's surprising how many developers forget that and instead try to focus on story and graphics instead of what's actually fun. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a great example of building a world and a story but not making a lot of it fun.
For sports games that claims to be a simulator, yes they need to be on the realistic side, but probably have arcadic game modes, but for wrestling games, they should be realistic, or least not have the realistic sells. I need over the top impact with my moves. I need it to look like I just killed somebody lol. These 2k games have missed that part.

I would love it if they brought back manually letting go of submissions at the rope, I also would love the old mounted punches back (it's like the 10 count punches) and the evasive roll.
A decent handful of moves like the rated RKO and the flapjack dropkick could be done in 2k20 and 19, just because the name is different, the setup is different (even easier) or the execution is different, doesn't mean it's not there. This video could've gone without at least five entries
No. 5, 13, is in 2K20. Also, Extreme Makeover is Melina's finisher move, not CM Punk's. & the Rated RKO was like a Red Herring to the catching finishers.
It makes me so angry when they remove moves. It doesn´t matter if they are old. They CAN leave them in the game even if outdated. I know it because Cody Rhodes taunts from SVR 2011 are still in the game as well as some other moves like Mike Knox Finisher, Parallel Snapmare, one of the Chokeslams, one of the Super Kicks and several other moves as well. All over 10 years old but still included in 2K19 and 2K20. Before I forget, the animation for igniting the table in 2K20 is also over 10 years old. Still works fine.
2K has a lot of these moves. I’m not saying this list isn’t mostly missing ones, because it is, but we have some of them. The Flair knee drop, the diving RKO and the table piledriver to name a few. You need different setups for them but they are definitely still in the games.
I can't remember if the things I'm about to speak were in 08 or in other games, but here's more things that I miss from past games: Being able to keep applying a submission hold after the opponent grabs the rope, as the ref counts to 5 , and DQ if we didn't release by the count of 5. It was so realistic and immersive for Heel characters. Every Heels do that on TV, come on 2K why removing it ? Also, when in the ring and the opponent is laid on his back, being able to drag the opponent by his 2 legs and go in the direction of a ring post. That would trigger the cutscene of putting each of the opponent's legs around the corner, then go outside and pull his legs, to make his balls hit the ring post. That was so fun, and painful too. Once again, it was great when playing as a Heel. In recent games, except using weapons, there's nothing a Heel can do to make him really act as a Heel ( can't hold the submission hold up to 4, can't do nasty things like make his opponent's balls hit the ring post, can't interact/use the referee, and so on ) , there's not any real difference from playing as a Babyface anymore, which is saddening. How can 15yo games be better than the current ones. It seems crazy to me. Guess that explains why I keep playing HCTP, SYM, SvR 07, and Raw 2, frequently. Another thing. Why can we no longer trigger when we want the manager to interfere ? So we can use him to distract the opponent or the ref when we actually really need him, and make him break a pinfall or submission by distracting the ref, or even better, pulling the ref's leg to bring him outside of the ring so he can't make the pinfall. Having a manager is completely useless in recent games, they barely ever do anything, and we can't have them interfere when needed, which doubles how useless they are. And here's another idea, why not bringing back the possibility to get out of the ring in Royal Rumble matches, from the Raw franchise. That's great when playing as a Heel. A guy that gets out so he can't be eliminated, and then comes back in later, when there's few opponents left and they're all tired, so he can win easily ( of course, the AI of Babyface participants should be able to come out and try to bring us back in the ring too, like the opponents would go " Oh no buddy, you ain't gonna have an easy win by using this kind of tactics " ) , that would also allow us to attack opponents making their way into the Rumble, on the ramp. We could also grab weapons under the ring, which would add realism when playing as someone " extreme " ( like, a Sandman or Dreamer CAW for example ) . And also, when we're not entering as N1 or N2, it would allow us to not enter the ring immediately, staying outside, once again, that's something that Heel guys are doing in almost every Royal Rumble matches IRL, so why not putting that in the game too. There needs to be much more gameplay possibilities, especially for Heel characters, than the current games have.
The thing is svr games did try to dwell on to simulation but still has arcade themes, hctp is mor arcady but its fun, i feel like a balance of realism and arcade is the best choice

Some of the things listed on here you can honestly do without or the newer games have made better in some ways. I will say the one i disagree the most with on this video is sweet chin music. Its soooo much better in newer games. You can hit it out of nowhere, or do the corner one and CHOOSE if you want to pin or not. Just my take.
A lot of these are questionable. The Ric Flair knee drop is in, and so is the corner Sweet Chin Music. Not sure how the one in this vid is the "normal" one?
WWE SVR 2008 was my most favorite because it have good music, cool UI, and the Special Abilities it had. I use Powerhouse and Hardcore for my Created Superstar to be more stronger
Refs in 2k was much quicker to stand on their feet after they took a hit than the superstar itself. Referee in SVR is more realistic, that they are outcold after took a shot.
It was much better cause you could be a total heel, knock the red out, blast your opponent with a chair, hit your finisher and the red would slowly rise back up
The saddest thing is, I basically use the games for Universe Mode, making the shows from my old eFed from the early 00s and all my friends’ original characters, and I don’t even play with the WWE characters outside of the occasional throwaway match. They could take the 2k19 engine, put some of these weapon moves back in and some of the ultimate control moves like the crossfaces and mounted punches you controlled with the stick, and it wouldn’t even need to be licensed…. I’d just buy “Pro Wrestling Maker 9000” and be happy.
Every time I actually try to play on of the old ones. My nostalgia gets ruined, like wtf did I like about this?! So yes, I enjoy the games as they have progressed.

SvR was so amazing and my Childhood 🔥miss these Days
That 07 intro omg it's smack down vs Raw sports entertainment will never be the same lol Jerry Lawler voice legendary
2002 here comes the pain , 2008 RVS , and 2k15 are the most loved games
SD vs Raw was the best WWE games saga by far
Svr 2008 was my favorite wwe game 🥰🥰
I forgot how good this game looked. Pretty impressive for the old gen consoles
I think because of OMG moments these weren't needed. But hopefully they comeback someday. Took us 5-8 years to get customize superstars.
I didn't know about the chair assisted poetry in motion and I've played SVR 08 24/7 as a kid
I loved the triple jump moonsault.. notice the exclusive commentary for each show. They need to bring that back
Yeah good times, although I can tell you from experience people used to abuse the hell out of the Sabu moonsault.
It's a Big Difference between THQ and 2k.
I remember winning gm of the year with ECW and my roster had John cena undertaker triple hbk all the ecw legends ect.
And this is the reason why preferred playing SVR over wwe2k
A lot of these are questionable. The Ric Flair knee drop is in, and so is the corner Sweet Chin Music. Not sure how the one in this vid is the "normal" one?
AEW +THQ=💥🔥
Sabu is one of the most iconic wrestlers
WWE SVR 2008 was my most favorite because it have good music, cool UI, and the Special Abilities it had. I use Powerhouse and Hardcore for my Created Superstar to be more stronger
same 2008 was my favourite
Yeah miss those chair moves! And the ref being thrown etc! Loved SvR!
How do 2k miss these authentic moves in 2k series , they should include all authentic moves of all superstars
Bro I miss this game so damn much. One of the best wwe games ever
I like high flying pin and rolling skills
Refs in 2k was much quicker to stand on their feet after they took a hit than the superstar itself. Referee in SVR is more realistic, that they are outcold after took a shot.
It was much better cause you could be a total heel, knock the red out, blast your opponent with a chair, hit your finisher and the red would slowly rise back up
@@CharlesHitmanStone yeaaah SVR refs are better. You can cheat hit a low blow. Interfere the match.
SvR 08 is the pinnacle of the wrestling gaming experience.
2010 and 2011 were good
1:34 But that is in the game but without the rope rebound
The saddest thing is, I basically use the games for Universe Mode, making the shows from my old eFed from the early 00s and all my friends’ original characters, and I don’t even play with the WWE characters outside of the occasional throwaway match.
They could take the 2k19 engine, put some of these weapon moves back in and some of the ultimate control moves like the crossfaces and mounted punches you controlled with the stick, and it wouldn’t even need to be licensed…. I’d just buy “Pro Wrestling Maker 9000” and be happy.
Nobody talks about how good the graphics are for a 2008 game. The faces on WWE 20 were awful they felt too animated
I love how he hits his head ln the chair as well
I used to constant play 08 as a kid. Found my psp one day in high school and beat it again lol.
Rocks model in svr08 is incredible. What is that like 01-02 Rock?
The fact that the smackdown vs raw franchise had different commentators during different arenas makes me wonder if 2K are actaul wrestling fans.
I did notice a few of these movies just had an added taunt after the move,.of the time. Still great video
THQ & Yukes are untouchable when it comes to WWE games.
SvR 08 was the best. Until WWE 13'
My favorite SVR in the series.
Ric flair knee drop too clean! Woooo!
One handed RKO is sorely missed in 2k
Every time I actually try to play on of the old ones. My nostalgia gets ruined, like wtf did I like about this?! So yes, I enjoy the games as they have progressed.
i played this game non stop back then and i did not know you could do a solo poetry in motion
1:25 is so realistic you can see Cena calling the next spot.
I used to love doing the rated rko back then man that move is so underrated but so fun to do
these graphics were so good
My favorite svr outta all wwe games
SVR07&08 were my favorites outta the SVR series. I bet the new AEW game have all this🤣
Hopefully
Ultimate controls moves are in there but they work a little different
SvR 2007 graphics are insane for its time, probably the best graphics in the whole SVR series!
The rated RKo #20 is a must need as well
