EU5 is going to be trash like everything else PDX has done since the release of CK3. The company is trash now. The base game will be shallow. Overpriced DLC won't add barely anything to the game. It's time to move on
Looking forward to Frostpunk 2. I heard endless mode will be in the game from start this time. I hope endless can establish itself as a main mode that increase replayability of the game this time since in first game it was kind of a gimmick side mode to main story. It would be nice to have something to mess with after going through story.
Well now that game's been out long enough I am proud to say endless mode is way better. I honestly love it far more than the story mode this time around.
I got to play in the Ara closed beta, and it's quite fun. If they polish up a few bits it'll be an interesting step in the genre, really digging into supply chains and resources.
I have to say, it's a good time to be a strategy game fan. There are still some subgenres that I would like to see have a greater presence, like classic AoE style RTS games, but having played Fabledom and Songs of Conquest this past month. i can't complain too much.
Not any time soon unfortunately. Given that Paradox GSG competitors keep popping up and then fizzling out throughout the years, it's not looking good. A total war-like controllable battle simulator is especially harder to make than any mechanic paradox made. Not to mention the hundreds upon hundreds of necessary combat animations that make it far from feasible for any indie studio. Even if one is announced tomorrow, we wouldn't get it for a few years.
@@msherif428Yeah, I imagine a tbs/ grandstrategy game is difficult to build, what with all the different resources and structures, not to mention the varied forms these can take. Then you have to add on a real time combat part which isn't just a side show. From what I've heard even in rts games, which tend to be much smaller scale economy and production are often the more powerful aspect as opposed to tactics. And they generally max out at 4 resources plus population/ power, as opposed to the dozens in a tbs/ grand strategy.
@@smoadia85 you know what? I've been trying that for the first time, unrelated to total war. It took two months just to get it to display a triangle on the screen. It's real hard work, especially the graphics programming part of it.
Ara's the one I'm most excited for. :-) I've played the alphas and it's shaping up really, really well. With Civ 7, I'm waiting to see what direction they are going. I've been with the series since the start, but lost some enthusiasm after Civ 6.
For me, one of the best strategy games this year is Gates of Pyre. I was able to participate in its playtest today, and it didn't disappoint a bit. It's really similar to starcraft
It looks like many RTS games were planning on launching together. Adding Gates of Pyre to the ones you mentioned above, it is going to be a year of good gaming
Great video. Did you hear about Gates of Pyre? They just had a test play over the weekend and impressions are so positive. My first impression was that StarCraft 3 is out.
Thanks for this video. I haven't heard a lot of these games until you posted. I am most excited for Civ 7 and tried ARA in beta but I personally didn't like the UI in it. I still hope it gets polished a little bit more!
Broken Arrow looks like another game where a new developer is making a spiritual successor to a dormant franchise that the original developers either botched or washed their hands of. This time it's EA with the Command & Conquer series, particularly Generals.
I hope they incorporate some kind of culture system, perhaps optional, into ARA. Doesn't make much sense to be George Washington in the Copper Age and all through the ages. Anonymous senates and councils, Kings, or elected Presidents (Ai generated based on population and system adopted)
Oh, it's a tactics strategy game for Star Wars?? That's so disappointing!! No Galactic Battlegrounds 2, no Empire at War 2. Probably just goint to be XCOM spinoff levels of quality. Which is... Fine. Just disappointing when there were so many leaks of "The first Star Wars strategy game in nearly 20 years" and "Finally the return of Empire at War"
At that point they should forbid doing more 20 century wars, Roman(-Greece), generic fantasy and generic "civilization" games. Same unoriginal stuff every year. Nothing is barely interesting to spend nor money nor time. EU5 but due to the huge world spaces to play.
Can confidently say I’m not looking forward to any of these. Feels like mostly clones and remakes, not much originality or not very interesting. Maybe it’s time to finally give up gaming in 2025.
If EU5 and Civ7 come out the same year that will be an insane year for strategy
EU5 meh. Give me hearts of iron 5.
Civ7, Ara, Eu5... 2025 will be a good year.

@@QuisUtDeus828 It will take time for eu5 to catch up with all the dlcs, but im sure it will be an amazing game. perhaps in 2026 Maybe early 2027.

Absolutely - I feel replay-ability is usually a must. Here’s hoping for a good endless mode.
Played the beta it's LOT more complex than 1

Out of all of these Ara is the one I'm looking forward to the most.
I give up on strategy games if Ara sucks. I'll be content with Civ 4 and Alpha Centauri though lol
Some really promising games to look forward too! Thanks for the vid Jumbo ☺️
When on earth are we going to get a total war competitor?

Can't wait for new Civilization and Kaiserpunk! Civ is always awesome and Kaiserpunk had a pretty darn good Playtest recently!
Hmmm... my birthday is in August but all the games I want come out in September, well all good things come to those who wait.
It looks like many RTS games were planning on launching together. Adding Gates of Pyre to the ones you mentioned above, it is going to be a year of good gaming
I would love a Star wars tactical game but the info for now seems as solid as "I know a guy who knows a guy who has heard someone talk about this"
You missed some key mentions like Immortals. I still can’t stop thinking about the last playtest, it was a blast!
Isn't the Anno game clip a call-back to HBO's Rome w/ Ian McNeice as the newsreader?
Ubisoft is going bankrupt, I doubt we will see the new Anno game.
I can't wait for Anno!
Broken Arrow and EU V are my favorites
Ara is the project I'm most excited about. Another promising one to keep an eye on is Immortal Gates of Pyre, I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned.
Great video. Did you hear about Gates of Pyre? They just had a test play over the weekend and impressions are so positive. My first impression was that StarCraft 3 is out.
The new Anno hopefully has ground troops.
Thanks man
I'm really looking forward to Ara. I'm also surprised to not see Memoriapolis in the video since it's coming out in early access in a month.
Cataclismo is amazing
Civilization is Kingpin What is Total War than? The god of strategy games?
Thanks for this video. I haven't heard a lot of these games until you posted. I am most excited for Civ 7 and tried ARA in beta but I personally didn't like the UI in it. I still hope it gets polished a little bit more!
I kinda agree, though my playtime in the ARA alpha before last was pretty limited. It’s landing soon though… so it must be close to ready now 🤞
@@JumboPixel The UI is indeed a lot more polished in its current state, I'm not at liberty so say much more.

Keep your eye on the development of Anvil Empires
all these games look great
dude is standing on a on the box which look like, "CIV II" . Now thats cool...
Can you imagine if eu5 dropped out of nowhere
Broken arrow is going to be legendary. The open multiplayer beta was already awsome and the dev team is very friendly.
keep it up
My brother in christ how can you be a lover of history and strategy games and have no experience with the EU franchise? Remedy that asap
I see no evidence he plays Grand Strategy games
It’s called books
hope Humankind has more dlcs in the future!
Any particular reasons why Immortals wasn't mentioned?
All I want for Christmas is another Humankind update
What with Humankind?
Broken Arrow had a demo where you could actually play the game.
EU5 is the only one I'm really looking forward to.
Civ7's humankind 2.0 just doesn't interest me like civ 6.
Is civilization 7 is online game or offline?
I swear hooded horse just be publishing random bangers
Dude Age of Empires is the RTS game of all times
What about Age of History 3?
No Kingdom, Dungeon, and Hero on the list?
I do like hooded horse.
Still looks like I wont be getting XCOM 3 anytime soon or at all.
How have we had like 3 Civs and no Caesar 😢
I hope they incorporate some kind of culture system, perhaps optional, into ARA. Doesn't make much sense to be George Washington in the Copper Age and all through the ages. Anonymous senates and councils, Kings, or elected Presidents (Ai generated based on population and system adopted)
Many Civ-Killers have come and gone. Civ is and always will be king of strategy games. Some competition would be nice though.
old world is still here and way better than civ 6
What about age of history 3?
No Kingdom Come: Deliverance? I'm insulted!
Dont we get Civ 7 gameplay reveal soon??
20th of august
Cataclismo is awesome. Can only recommend it.
Prison Architect 2 has been delayed "indefinitely".
4X games fans are gonna be eating good in 2025
Forgot age of history 3
Stop Civ please I have been playing Civ since 2000. I can't play anymore, I want something new
First 🌚
second
Fourth, because I like to break expectations.

Hopefully civ 7 will return builders to not being stupid, will have non cartoonish graphics, and will not gave 8 million little things to manage

Bait used to be believable...
I can agree. Don't give up on gaming though, just play older games.
Half the games on the list are original and look great though.
oh lol, they killed OMD: Unchained in 2019 just to repaint and relaunch it again with the ugly fortnite wokeshit designs.
Broken arrow looks like another russian piece of garbage about how cool armata is
russia is beautiful, take a look at a deep dive through google maps streetview

which part was the nonsense do you think?
