    You're a genius! I never thought about using a window to trace... Genius! Man, that could've saved me so much time on previous projects. Thank you so much for this great tutorial!

    You will need to get some transfer paper for dark fabric. put a book or hard surface under the fabric, then the transfer paper, then your design. Use a ball point pen and press firmly. It can be tricky, so maybe practice a time or two first! Thanks for watching!!! Hope that helps!

    why is everyone being so rude, if she wants to use all six strands let her, its her personal choice, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that

      You DIDN'T KNOW things could be embroidered by hand? I stared at the screen for a long time trying to figure out whether that is really what you meant or not. So, you literally thought embroidery was only invented when somebody came up with a way for a machine to do it??

    • @sarahhilbert8380
      @sarahhilbert8380 9 лет назад

      Kristin Morgan I know it's probably a little late for this reponse, but the floss you buy from walmart can be made thinner, you just have to pull it apart. I made that same mistake when i first started using it. I had been using an old collection of floss my grandmother and great grandmother had saved.

      use stencils and trace with a white pencil or light marker if you are useing dark material that needs to be embroidered on.

    I have never done this on a t-shirt, but there are some stabilizers you can get at the craft store for t-shirts, they would go on the under side of the shirt. How come you can't put it in a hoop? Once the stabilizer is on it will help and then you can gently put the t-shirt in a hoop without warping the fabric and stretching it too much. I hope that helps!

    I'm a dad and want to do this for my daughters I brought them some NYC school bags and want to add their names to them so they are personalised. I did this in school as a little kid I think I know how to do it and cross stich i think anyway. I think cross stitch was my favourite.
    What I've totally forgotten and nervous about is ending it. Plus having long back lines that could split.
    Although now I'm thinking mayb I could splash some hot glue on the back of it lol. Its a bag pocket so mayb that will be OK. Knot it up but then gloop it down?
    I don't want their mom trying to sell the bags as they cost not loads but not cheap. New Era NYC brand which is one of my favourite brands and I can see their mum bring stroppy over it. Even though they are amazing. Yellow and purple their favourite colours. So I think if i sew their names on them then that will be a hard sell.
    I brought a sewing kit ready I just need the man bags to go for it now. Suppose I can't really ruin them if it goesnt wrong with thin thread and thin needle.
    I just wish I took the class more seriously now. I have for years tbh I would try to motivate my ex to give it a try as it really is a mum skill just sewing up clothes as needed but also artistic like this and absolutely something to teach your child but Facebook was always her hobby.
    Once I get through this drama I will teach them as best I can.
    Since I found this 5D art thing you can glue on crystals or do embroidery with it. Which is what put these ideas in my head again.
    I love activities like that with my kids just focused on a task and listening to them waffle. Making memories.

    What kind of fabric are you using?

  • @sam111880
    @sam111880 8 лет назад

    O traceing would work to.... i am curious does it have to be special kind of embroidery thread or can it be any home thread does it greatly aid in precision and speed of design if you uses the specialized embroidery thread? I would imagine so only because of the extra thickness of the thread used but any thread of the same thickness would work i would imagine just guessing

    • @anticuti
      @anticuti 8 лет назад +1

      +sam111880 when you try you will see, normal thread won't look nice and the tension, stiffness, thickness is not nice to work with.

    I bless you as you go out and as you come in, I bless you with favor, everything you put your hand to will prosper, I bless you as the head and not the tail, I bless your business, investments, relationships, goals, dreams, and endeavors, I bless your family and their offspring, all in the mighty name of Jesus.
    To keep this blessing confess with your mouth, and believe that God raised Jesus from the dead.
    Jesus is the Lord, Jesus you are the Lord and Savior of my life,
    I believe with my heart God raised you from the dead,
    My faith is in the blood of Jesus,
    Thank you that I am a child of God,
    Thank you that I am chosen,
    I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus,
    In Jesus name
    Amen.
    Did you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead for the first time?
    If you just gave your life to Jesus for the first time or rededicated your life to Christ reply; Salvation, to this message.

      This is a skill. It takes practice.

    • @BunnyCAW
      @BunnyCAW 8 лет назад +5

      +karenz Yes, and if you do not have proficiency in a skill, you should not be demonstrating "how to" videos of that skill until you obtain some proficiency in it. People who have never encountered embroidery will watch this video and either be confused, or pick up all sorts of bad habits. 1. She should have used an interfacing to stiffen behind the embroidery. 2. She should have used fewer strands of the 6 strand cotton thread as using all 6 made it lumpy and unattractive. 3. She should have tightened the fabric that she was working on in the hoop because proper tension is part of good needlepoint, it stops the image from being distorted when you block the fabric to finish the piece. 4. She should have given thought to the placement of her knots as well as where she carried the thread across the back of the fabric to "backtrack" as lumpy knots and dark thread visible through a light fabric are low quality workmanship. (A very true old adage is that "the back should look almost as good as the front.") There is more, but basically, don't "teach" if you are making elementary mistakes yourself.
