  • Come on, admit it, you've always wanted a Full English Breakfast baked in a pie. But I'll be the first to admit, an English Breakfast Pie is not an easy thing to make as a workable thing. Many have tried, and many have failed, which is why the Full English Breakfast Pie hasn't become a classic like steak and kidney pie or chicken balti pie. But I gave it my best shot...

For people in the USA 50/50 butter/Crisco makes great hot water pastry, use it on all Keef's pie recipes... fun video to watch

I do use that combo for most pastry- adjusting butter up or down as flavor for recipe requires. No idea whats in Crisco but its got to be. Better than maragrine. Guess what? More US markets carry lard than five years back- worth a look again in your region.

Easy fix for the egg yolks: gently pierce them at least once with a toothpick before baking (surface tension and whatnot). Cheers!

Wonderful video! So sorry to hear Mrs KC is sick. I imagine that the other half of the pie on a tray with a hot cuppa was a lovely pick-me-up. I will be trying this recipe for sure. Also, I am intrigued by your tea cosy in the background. Now that it's had a cameo appearance, perhaps you could introduce it and let us know where to get one?

Plenty have tried an' plenty have failed, so it's no wonder it ain't a classic like steak an' kidney or chicken balti. Fair play t'ya for givin' it a go though. Hey Keef. If you're ever making this again, try stabbing the top of the yolks just once with a cocktail stick just before putting them back into the cooker. They shouldn't run and won't explode when heated. Great vids.
