    Brodart dust jacket covers are a game changer.
    I like to put a small piece of tape connecting the cover with the inner flap on the top and bottom so the cover stays on when I'm reading.

    I use Brodarts as well, but I get the precut ones from their website. I get the Darkhorse Omni size, Normal Omni, and Library Size. I took some Omnis to a show to get signatures and ripped the heck out of one of the Brodarts. It completely saved my dust jacket. I highly recommend them.

    Nice set up & good info. Do you do anything with your TPB, do you cover or rebind those? If so have any recommendations. Iam looking for alternatives for my TPB.

    • @BadWolfComics
      @BadWolfComics  8 месяцев назад +1

      I dont have very many paperbacks. I usually only go for the Hardcover books. I havnt actually ever done a bind from TPB. The few I have I just use the standard bag & board method. If your looking for answers for binding your TPB into a hardcover I would start with online groups and ask folks that have done it before. Here are a few places that I visit.

      Not for everyone and not "necessary". However they do help reduce shelf wear on the dust jackets. most of my Marvel books have custom DJs as well. So for me its just a little extra protection for my investment.

    • @BadWolfComics
      @BadWolfComics  9 месяцев назад +1

      Great question! The files I get from Roy are great because all of the dimensions are already built into the file. I use 255 gsm high gloss paper. Tell them to print it boarderless. Some of the big print shops like Staples or Kinkos may not do it due to copyright issues. I had to find a smaller independent shop to start off with.

      I dont actually make the files. I just print, fold, and wrap them. For me to print DJs for folks it would be stupid expensive with the cost of ink, paper, and shipping. Not to mention I could get in big trouble if I started selling them.

      Yea I was using a local print shop but they got greedy and went from $12 per print to $25. If I were only doing one or two every so often I would proly have kept doing that. But the volume I print at the printer will eventually pay for itself.

    • @natebetzen

      @@BadWolfComics I'm honestly jealous of the fact you could find a local print shop that could print these. I've asked all over my city, and seems like the majority don't even carry the necessary kind of paper. A lot have never heard of the gsm weight measurement, so I had to try to find 80lb or 100lb high gloss. And nobody had that in a size that fit my 22"x9.5" cover. The closest I could find, ridiculously, was Fedex/Kinkos, and they gave me some kind of poster stock at about $25. So frustrating!

    • @BadWolfComics
      @BadWolfComics  3 месяца назад +2

      @@natebetzen I did go to a shop at first but then they tried to charge me almost $30 per print. At that point I bought a large format printer and I print them myself. At $30 each its has already paid for itself.

    • @natebetzen
      @natebetzen 3 месяца назад +1

      @@BadWolfComics I found another guy who suggested using Walgreens, because you can get a pretty deep discount with coupon codes. Not perfectly ideal, because the paperweight will be off, but maybe a good middle ground until I can convince myself buying myself a large format printer is the way to go :)
