- This week on The Pacific, we speak people forcibly returned to Tonga despite having little to no connection with the Kingdom. We also look at how science could finally help prove a famous story passed down through oral tradition in Solomon Islands - and we go to PNG to hear all the latest about the autonomous region of Bougainville’s push for independence. Plus former Fijian Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama is sentenced to one year in jail.

Awesome reporting guys, great to see the Pacific news get coverage by Australian media
This is ridiculous, the question is why should he (FB) be given special treatment..???
When he was the Prime Minister, did he give the same treatment to “Prisoner 302” who was falsely incarcerated and who by the way was a former Prime Minister of Fiji as well?
exactly
U deserve to go to prison mr bainimarama...corrupt leader..
I agree 👍 💯
Thats a bold statement to make. If you actually understood the whole situation, would you still make that statement? Not saying that he doesn't. That's you're opinion I'm not arguing it.
@@ddd-us7zw. You're blind like him. We don't need a year 4 to run our country.
@@ddd-us7zw there are a total of 35 corruption charges lined up so yes he is corrupt
What an amazing TONGAN programme..God bless these wonderful Tongan men who want to save their people..may they SUCCEED!!❤COURAGE comes with sacrifice..God bless you all..
I agree. Tears were streaming watching this story. Very moving.
Prayer for all Polynesian Island God bless (A) Samoa Tonga Fiji New Zealand etc
The old police fella is genuine. You can see the pain and hurt he has for the youth given the road ahead. This battle will forever be present as long as there is poverty and low social economic conditions. Pray for your children people of Tonga.
That’s crazy 2 Tongans guys I was in prison with Big Raymond and 2Dog aka Latu aha good to see you brothers are still alive n well ofa atu tokos
Great show. Fascinating cultures and history. Thank Yous ☝️♥️✌️🌍🙏
I’m solomon 🇸🇧 but Never heard the story of Teonimanu before . Pretty interesting !
wow, the story of teonimanu is amazing
God bless you guys
thanks abc for representing polynesian culture :)
Why this history left our in our school curriculum. Live in Ugi ni masi for 4months but just unfortunately not to hear the story 28:05. I think late Uncle Luke Susuta have this in archives. Missed Saturdays customs story. Great story.
Most of our stories are lost in time ,we tend to love European and western technology as means to replace our oral stories and the truth that it represent.
Would be a good idea for Pacific islands to have a reach out program for their citizens overseas who might be going through a hard time and susceptible to crime. Give them a pathway home before making life worse for themselves and their family.
Well said 🤙🏽
God bless brothers.
Samoa is also full of addicts now smh
Yep Samoa is more worse nowadays even police department n some politicians ☹️☹️☹️
Tongan NRL and Union players overseas should really invest in the powerful ongoing programs these deported Tongans are walking.🔥
It would definitely bring closure as well for these founders- just like far from home🙏🏾💪🏾
Much love to all islander's ❤️ stay safe keep true ✊🏽
I agree the moderator must be from the Pacific. Australia can't be the moderator because they have too much invested in west Papua with the Indonesians and all the human rights laws broken would be uncovered
Our children of today will see in their eyes what the future holds for them, it’s now their upbringing which also helps to steer them towards a better life in their future.
Keep on. Tell the children the truth. Malo Dare To Dream e ngaue lelei. Ofa atu
those fijian police look really unfit.. and the uniforms untidy
Yep, and they all looked corrupt.
Yes, they just finish Kava around 4 o'clock that morning
Very true.👏👏👏💯💯💯
Same here in png.
@@user-nj5dm7tb6i. Our Melanesian police are all the same. 😁😁😁. They've been drunk by our local alcohol.
The drug problem “in all the world” will never be solved as long as young people covert the lives and toys of those they see on social media. In the west, your existence in a tropical land is perceived as idealic paradise. Tongan people hear me! You do not want to live in the west. It is rotting from the inside with no morality. I am Australian but live on a remote island in the bay of Thailand, a better upbringing for my grandchildren.
I thought Hikule'o was both God & Goddess hmm
The PM has rescued native Fijians from being second class citizens. Why you are showing disrespect to a great man who stood up for native Fijians rights to run the affairs of Fiji native.
What rescue did he do stop lying he never did anything infact he use us Itaukei for his own gain
Wrong, lies.Stop your lies, there would have been a lot more outcry.have a look and see how many people were there to support them.Nil/Zip.that speaks in itself before we start digging and hearing about the atrocities and law breaking acts that they committed to ordinary people.
They changed the laws and introduced a bill that took the rights away from the itaukei.
Lol... so you're asking this gang why they doing their jobs? It's News. Go and ask the rain why it's wet
