      @Ena 123 this is what I don't get. Just because someone ran away does not mean they are safe. Their whereabouts are still unknown, they are underage and possibly in dangerous situation. Doesn't matter if they run away willingly or were taken against their will - they still need to be found asap. This "they just run away, they will probably come back in a few days" is the wildest of excuses and I cannot understand how people can use it to rationalise not doing anything.

    25:00 - Far out, I hitched in the late 80s, and I was terrified of the wrong person/people picking me up. One creepy man told me, "Your door and window don't open from the inside -- I'll have to go around and open it from the outside." The whole 10 minute trip, my heart was bashing, but I acted cheerful and interested in him. When he stopped, for me to get out, he just sat, staring at the dash. My instincts took over. I grabbed the door handle, and it opened. He gave me the most shocked look, like "HOW?" All I felt was relief _and_ terror, that the door should not have opened, so I acted blase, smiling and thanking him. When he drove off, I BAWLED my eyes out, my whole body trembling as I walked to the shops, that I'd quite possibly just escaped a very messed up situation (to say the least).

      Which is why people should never get into the car with anybody they don't we have all been taught don't go with strangers or don't talk to strangers but I guess back in the '70s and eighties people did that on a regular basis hitchhiked and stuff. But I just don't understand how they didn't worry about their safety. There were murders back then and all the things that happened today happened back then maybe it wasn't as open but I would be very leery about getting into the car with anybody I did not know very well. These two are just pure evil

    • @LilacDaisy2
      @LilacDaisy2 3 года назад +33

      @@nicoletrandel2966 Oh, no, there was HEAPS of warnings about hitching back then. Even though I was so shy I would not walk across a busy road on my own, I had to get away from my nasty, nitpicking parents on weekends. They'd moved 20 minutes drive away from the nearest bus service and would refuse to drive me to it, just for me to socialise. I'd cry, begging them, because I *hated* hitching, but they'd say, "You don't have to see your friends. Just stay home." A lot of the time I would, but sometimes the need for escape was so great, the danger seemed worth the risk.

So many serial killers could have been stopped with halfway decent police work. But that would take the police actually working and too many would rather dismiss a case or evidence if it makes their job easier.

      Women just aren't believed in a lot of cases unfortunately. And for the time especially, police in most countries are still very "boys club" is. It'd be nice to think that whoever would have gone to listen to her even after being told she was making a false report, that just by listening to the fear in her they'd believe her, but I really don't think if anyone other than a woman had listened to her that anything would have been done.

      the justice system works to punish, not treat. the crimes might have been preventable had the bernies seeked psychological help for their childhood issues earlier on. but a justice system working on a prevention basis is doomed to be biased and corrupt. the power to decide a man will be guilty in the future of further crimes should not be given to any one.

      I think the problem is that prison isn't harsh enough for most criminals. Prison should be actual punishment; 1 meal a day, no time with others, no tv, radio or any type of technology or entertainment. If one enters the system twice and it's proven beyond a doubt they did the crimes or they confess, prison should then be for life.

I don’t know if there’s much to the story in terms of evidence that would make a long enough video but I’d love for you to be able to tell her story in a video as you’re so good at researching it all! I 100% think this whole thing could have been avoided if the cps system done their job right and these psychopaths had a better upbringing. David's prison experience is the perfect way to show why life in prison is a way better way of making someone pay for their horrific crimes instead of giving them the death penalty. I know if someone hurt or killed someone I love I'd want them to be beaten every day of their life instead of getting off easy by dying!

    I think that at least some of the other potential victims were murdered by this hellacious couple based on the evidence that you explained in this video. My heart goes out to the families that may never receive closure or justice for the deaths of their loved ones. 💔

    I’ve been through a situation like this where I felt my life was at risk and yous be surprised how you remember every detail. When your adrenaline’s pumping it heightens your senses, including sight. The hard part is forgetting it 😔 Great video Bella

    I’ve been waiting for you to do this case!! My grandma lives on the same street of the Bernie’s and lived there at the time of the crimes. I’ve grown up listening to the stories from all the neighbours my whole life.
