Declaring Papua New Guinea as a Christian nation will not solve the deeply entrenched issues of corruption that plague our society. The mere act of labeling the country under religious banners does little to address the systemic problems that require real action, transparency, and accountability. Corruption is not a moral issue that can be simply erased by invoking religion-it is a structural problem that demands robust policies, strong institutions, and effective enforcement. To my fellow citizens, especially those who claim to act in the name of Christianity: stop buying into the false narrative that religious declarations alone will bring about the change we need. Our faith should not be a smokescreen for avoiding the hard work of reform, nor should it be used to justify inaction. If anything, true Christian values call for honesty, integrity, and justice-qualities that are sorely lacking in our political and social systems today. Instead of hiding behind empty labels, let's focus on real solutions to corruption-stronger governance, better accountability measures, and a collective commitment to upholding the rule of law.

Churchs will not take us to heaven, thats for sure, but, the argument here is not about Church's, its about Decelerating PNG as a Christian Nation, period. Nothing to do with Catholic, Lutheran or whatsoever...it does not even change the Bible too..its about PNGs Declaration, through its PREAMBLE, simple as that...
But why pope allowed homosexual to be accepted in all the church's... African catholic cardinals today have rejected popes recognition towards homosexual..my question is for cardinal ribat..what is your say on this.becuase the Bible clearly says that GOD don't allow this.
If you had actually taken the time to read Pope's article on this matter, you'd know. Pope didn't allow homosexualilty to be blessed in churches, he had simply agreed to bless the individuals because that is everybody's right to get blessings. Educate yourself... He didn't allow homosexual marriages....

Governor Powes Parkop was on point here! 🙏 This is a very sensitive issue and shouldn't be taken lightly! The Catholic Church has contributed a lot to this nation, and plays a vital role in its development too. There is no need to be labelled 'by law' as a Christian country. We are already known as a Christian country. See country's that have labelled themselves as an Islamic nation, they have their share of problems keeping that in place. We can only see it as a strategy to gain control and power! Moreover, we have a lot more major issues to solve in the country first before we can go about calling and labelling ourselves as a Christian country!!
This is not a catholic run country but the citizens of PNG has all the rights to make decisions for the rights and future of PNG. Catholic Pope can handle catholic issues. No, you didn't understand religious freedom. You cannot force Muslim to be a Christian or even an SDA to be a Catholic. It is up to you to decide where you put your faith or beliefs. History talks as the early converts were called Christians. The truth of the matter was it was declared in the Council of Nicea in Rome which all religious leaders from pagan Rome and other faiths of earlier religions got together to declare the believers as Christians.

Declaring by law what is already known and predominantly practiced is otherwise a wasteful and needless effort. The bill should be perceived as an attempt to creating an obligatory situation for the people and a deviation where freedom of religion and right to associate or affiliate with any religion are constitutionally protected. Have the Government and the Parliament run out of other policy issues and laws to enact or to amend laws that are becoming archaic?

If you priminister declear PNG as a christaian nation, you must not squander or dish out any public monies to your coronies, prove to the people that what you preach confirms to your standards.

Its not a guaranty for PNG to be saved when declaring PNG as a Christianity. Salvation in Jesus is a personal thing and your power of choice matters
