Increase Your Capacity: Installing AEV 3" High Capacity Coils on Your Jeep JLU

- Today we install the new high capacity springs from AEV to replace the standard springs that came with our 2.5 inch dual sport lift. Since we primarily do overlanding the capacity of the standard springs is just not enough for our set up. After installation, which i did in the driveway, it made a huge difference and leveled out the rear end, I have put a couple hundred miles on the jeep since and it rides even better that when i installed the original lift, super happy and cant wait to see how it handles the trail, we are headed to the Kentucky adventure trail in a few weeks to test it out!!

They really make a huge difference!
Hey man. Great vid. Im doing AEV lift in a couple months for my JTR. Ii is my daily and carry about 400 lbs extra weight of gear only, not including me and passenger, around on the regular- (not including front bumper and winch which they say on their websites the springs are already calibrated for). So per their website I’m right on the line between the regular springs and HD. I dont have a RTT so even when loaded for a trip I probably only add about another 150 lbs. Im trying to decide which springs. Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks. I would elect for the heavy springs, if they were an option when i did the dual sport lift originally i would have picked them. I took my rtt off and have a bunch of roam boxes up top now for storage for long trips, my jeep is also my DD and the multi rate springs are soft enough that even when unloaded the jeep handles great, the true benefit are of course loaded down they make a huge difference, i also think long term, if you change your setup its always better to have capacity to add then be faced with a spring thats not rated for your application, aev has done a great job of making a spring that works great unweighted and when loaded down, unlike with trucks i have had with hd springs when unloaded they rode horrible, so if i am you i would go with the hd spring, i would buy my same set up again if i had to do it over with no hesitation you will be happy with the choice!
@@FischerJeepAdventures thanks man. Appreciate the advice. Was just out at Wolf Den and Green Ridge State Forest last weekend and it was beautiful. Mountains right now are peak- great time to get out. 🤙
Absolutely, We are on our way this morning up into the george washington national Forrest for the weekend, i have heard that part of MD is really nice, in the fall, the colors here in Va are just turning
@@FischerJeepAdventures probably peak right now in western Maryland. Davis WV was probably peak last weak. Gonna try to hit Flagpole sometime in Nov. have fun this weekend out there.
Hello...great video...I can not find them on your amazon link; It says Not available. may i ask the cost? (roughly)
Thanks, looks like they are being carried by amazon right now. Try the link to aev website www.aev-conversions.com/product/high-capacity-coil-springs-wrangler-jl/ they are $498.00 just for the springs, hope that helps
Great video got a question! I just got a jl 370 with the 2.5 aev lift on it but I put a heavy box system in the back of my jeep with tools and it looks like it's slightly lower in the back than what I'd like, my problem is I want to keep my ride quality as this is my daily, if I go with the high capacity springs how does it ride compared to the 2.5 ,any input is much appreciated!
Ethan, thanks my jeep is also my daily driver and i have done my best to keep the geometry right especially with the last few mods i did with metalcloak. Personally i think it rides better than with the 2.5 set up primarily because the springs are not so compressed anymore so they can do their job of carrying the weight and having good road manners, i think you would be happy with them and get the ride height your looking for
@@FischerJeepAdventures awsome that's good news! I really think I'd benefit from them, Love your jeep btw and thank you for the great info!
Thanks and like i said u will be happy with the springs, and easy switch in the driveway
How is the ride with the new springs? I have the standard AEV springs and was thinking about upgrading to the heavy-duty AEV springs. I just heard they may be stiffer.
Greg the ride is a little stiffer when empty but its not bad the progressive rate takes alot of the harshness out vs a single rate spring and when loaded it rides great which is what my intent was when getting them to make sure i have the best ride when loaded down but also had a good ride when empty and with my set up these springs do that. I would get them if you are considering them.
@@FischerJeepAdventures Thanks for the reply. My Jeep seems to be getting heavier. I was looking into the MetalCloak skid plates.
How does it drive/handle now?
@brian jones, honestly it drive and handles better than it ever has, tracks straight, steering wheel returns to center in a tight turn, and since the rear spring has the higher spring rate it seems firmer but also like the suspension works better in the rear since its not so compressed. Really happy with the change
Another great video. What load rating are your tires?
@greg sandoval, thanks i appreciate it, the 35/12.50/r17s are rated at 3195lbs per tire
Thats a load range D
Thanks for the info. I just picked up my replacement Jeep and I have all my AEV parts ready to install.
Excellent, I am sure your excited to get it all together, good luck!!
