TL;DR - The MotionGrey Standing Desk gets a standing ovation from me. Now, I was not compensated or paid for this review, so all these thoughts are genuinely my own. And with that, I can genuinely say that this desk is worth every penny. From the smooth dual electric Bosch Motors to its clean lines, there is really very little not to link about this desk. In fact, let's talk about that first. I DO NOT like the low voltage cable grommet or its placement, and the tabletop is a little harder to keep clean than I would have liked given it is of a very high gloss finish... There, that's everything I don't like.
As far as what I do like, let me try to summarize it as quickly as possible. The height range on this thing is FANTASTIC. Ranging from 2FT to just over 4FT, this has more range of motion than I have seen on the market so far, especially at its given price point. The legs are exceptionally sturdy and even have adjustable feet (Forgot to mention that) underneath if your floors are uneven in order to fine-tune and level out its placement. The controls are easy to use and learn and can be placed anywhere you please on the desk. It also offers a powered USB port (Forgot to mention that too) on the side of the controller for charging accessories such as your phone or Bluetooth headset. This desk has made my RUclips "creation station" so much easier to use, which was exactly what I wanted out of a standing desk and it far exceeded my initial expectations.

appreciate the thoughtful review. i've been thinking about just buying their legs and ordering a custom table top so I can save a bit on the overall price. This is steering me toward a yes!
I still use this literally everyday as my main office desk. The factory top has held up so well over time too!
Hows the stability? Does it wobble at higher heights?
It will wobble a small amount at max height but only if you’re trying to wiggle it. During regular operation it’s very sturdy
You did an amazing job there. I just have one question to you what size of desk did you buy the Large or X-Large ??
XL and I’m so glad I did!
@@qwazyd0gg you are awesome thank you
just bought this desk. Solid and affordable desk but i can't seem to figure out the keypad lock function. Does it even have one?
I’m in the same boat, which leads me to believe there may not actually be one. On their website it also mentioned this set had a collision sensor, which I also cannot get working. Luckily this unit is in my office on another level of the home behind closed doors so I’m not worried about either.
@@qwazyd0gg yeah, the manual also alluded to a keypad lock. I’m a bit worried because I have an home office and my kids occasionally sneak in when I’m not in there.
Honestly it sounds unorthodox but you could also plug it into a power strip either smart or traditional and just cut power when not in us. As mine is floating in the middle of the room, it’s unplugged most of the time until I need to use it
Very valid concern.
I am still deciding between MotionGrey and Flexispot E7 Pro. The only thing I don't like about MotionGrey is the hole. Also wish they offer grey colour frame.
I think it would depend on the price spread. Honestly my MotionGrey has been rock solid since making this video and I use it every single day in my home office. Too has held up well, although I do also use a desk mat (hides the hole too) and the motor is still strong and smooth.
@@qwazyd0gg Thanks for your reply. Which top is solid and last long? Flexispot has option for bamboo which I prefer. But I don't mind for other top option from MotionGrey.
I only have experience with the one I have in this video, so I can’t accurately speak about other materials or brands. I can say I’m very pleased with what I have and it’s stood up exceptionally well.
Very good review! Did you go for the S (47 x 24), M (55 x 28), or L (66 x 24) table top? Also, did you consider the progressive solo ryzer desk? It's also a Canadian company, but comes with a 15 year warranty (vs 8 years). It also has a wider base for more stability (27.5" legs vs 24") and can handle more weight (270 lbs vs 200 lbs. The price is only $75 more.
I went with the large myself. It’s still going strong and I still use it everyday. Honestly, I hadn’t done a whole lot of shopping around for standing desks; however, when Motiongrey reached out with the opportunity to test the desk for an unbiased review, I happily accepted. Now I don’t think I could live without it
@@qwazyd0gg Yeah makes total sense given they reached out to you. Glad to hear that you still stand by this desk. I honestly think you can't really go wrong with any of the main dual motor options out there: motion grey, progressive, flexispot, primecables, etc.
I just had an ergonomic assessment performed on my workstation. I need a new ergonomic chair and desk. What are the smallest versions of these desks? I have about 30 cm of width to work with.
I’m not to sure what the dimensions are off hand but their link is in the description :)
I'm getting this after watching your video. I know it's not difficult to assemble but going to pay for their assembly service :) Thanks!
There is a link and code in the description for savings as well :)
Just bought one! Do you have trouble with cable management? my last desk i just screwed in a power bar surge protector underneath my desk. Would I be able to do the same with this desk? Or should I find another way?
No issues here! I just use 3m adhesive zip tie anchors as the table top is a little thinner, meaning you may accidentally go through the table with screws
Thanks a lot for the details. I can imagine that desk hole being annoying for your purposes. In retrospect, I imagine you could have asked them to send you a top without the hole.
I'm seriously considering this desk for the motors, looks, and length.
I very much enjoy mine :)
@@qwazyd0gg I understand that you have an X-large table top. What's the distance from a leg to the edge? Considering the X-large table top is 66", I wonder what's an ideal distance for maximum stability.
For me I left about a foot on either side for room. You can see the distance in the review video. The top is not predrilled so you can leave as much or as little distance as you desire.
@@qwazyd0gg I'll measure and have a look. Thanks a lot. This video is featured on the Motion Grey website. 😄
I saw that! Haha crazy
Do you think it's worth paying $800-900 for a four leg version of a standing desk vs the frame you have?
I’m not sure why it would be much of a benefit considering the added cost.
@@qwazyd0gg Could you do a follow-up where you test the stability like in this video? ruclips.net/video/nRR-t1EprUM/видео.html
how do you find the wobble
I use this desk a lot for video calls now, so I use it higher than I normally would so my laptop camera is level with my eyes. I’m able to touch and lean on the desk without the wobble interrupting the video feed. There is a small amount of movement, but nothing major at all. I also don’t have much on the top of the desk, so maybe your mileage will vary if you’ve got the weight or monitors or a tower on the edges
I just bought the desk. How long does it take to ship in Canada?
If it’s coming from Ontario, a couple of days. If it’s coming from Richmond BC a couple days longer due to the floods
What are the measurements for the feet on yours? I wonder because the advertising states that it comes with 700mm feet, while multiple people have stated that they received a desk with a smaller standard size of 595mm feet instead. There were also some claims in a Reddit thread about bad customer service from the company, but that doesn't seem consistent as others claim to have had good experiences with them on the BestBuy reviews at least. False advertising is a red flag though, not that it'd necessarily prevent me from purchasing this alone.
My end to end length on the legs is exactly 2ft, so by the time you take a bit off of each end to account for the placement of the feet, I would believe mine to be close to the reported 595mm as well. I could not find the dimensions on Bestbuy; however, on their official specifications page I do see that they state the width of the feet to be 27.5 inches or 70cm, which appears to be 3.5ish inches longer than my model as well.
@@qwazyd0gg I appreciate the speedy response! That's odd that they still show the incorrect size then. It's a small difference though so not a deal-breaker to me so long as the desk is sturdy and doesn't have more wobble than you'd expect when using a computer.
Other than that, great video! You have the presentation and quality I'd expect from a channel a thousand times larger
I really appreciate your comment :)
I was a pretty absent over the summer from content due to the kids being home from school as well as my wife working from home. I’m getting back on track with content so I hope you stick around and find something else you’ll enjoy in a future upload :)
helpful video
Thank you Ana :)
I got this desk and lost 45 pounds in 1 week!!
I need one. :)
It’s so worth it! If it can hold me, it can hold your amazing setup!
