Warthunder has quantity over quality. There are still some Old models from Birds of Steel/Wings of Prey that are still in Warthunder and lots of hull machine guns still don’t work on the earliest tanks added to wt dispite newer ones having functional machine guns.
warthunder devs try to make it so everyone can play the game which I really respect even if its for money, my pc can only run warthunder and raven field which sucks but it is what it is

There's a manual transmission feature too. But it is deliberately turned off to make the game more accessible to all the retards that play WarThunder. Switch to manual transmission in WarThunder and you'll jerk way more than IL-2 because you can't see an RPM dial. Instead you see an RPM number.

it’s a marketability issue Simulators always have had less of a market compared to the casual counterpart. Less people will get into things they feel completely alienated from. World of tanks is casual, WT is a balance, IL2 is a simulator.
The only reason WT is more popular than IL-2 and WoT is because it targets a broader audience, it offers game modes for people who want a super realistic gameplay (simulator mode in a plane with VR and a cockpit setup) or more arcadey modes like Realistic Battles and Arcade Battles. WoT is only arcadey so it targets only people who like that type of unrealistic gameplay, IL-2 targets the ones who enjoy a much more realistic and accurate gameplay.
Wow. The IL-2's physics and vehicle dynamics are very nice. War Thunder has a 0-28 MPH time of 0.023 seconds. You can actually here the gear and clutching in the IL-2.
5:25 when you show the gunner sight on war Thunder you where using the barrel point of view which is not realistic as you can't see the barrel or the smoke and muzzle flash effects but you can change it on the settings I think it's called "gunner point of view" or something like that Also when playing simulator ground battles in war Thunder the gunner point of view is forced
Honestly, I forgot that you can change it to the more realistic gunsight. But by default, it's set to the gunsight shown in the video, which is what the vast majority of players use.
The suspension physics in WT are to snappy and kinda "toyish." While in IL-2 they really do a good job in simulating the tank exerting force on the track and the tracks reacting to the terrain. IL-2 does a superb job in showing the slack and tension in the tracks as you move foward and backs, side to side. The sound in IL-2 when it comes to firing the cannon in the interior and exterior is great while in WT the sounds is generic to other german tanks. Neither WT nor IL-2 capture the iconic sound of the MG-34. WT is once again generic but better in its audio fidelity and IL-2 is honestly kinda bad you can here it loop. Visually the MG-34 firing in IL-2 is so great I love it ❤. It feels like if you were near that gun when it fires, you're going to get your eye brows singed, but I perfer the heat and smoke effect escaping from the MG-34 from WT. The engine sound - IL-2. Full stop. When it comes to the visual of the tank itself, WT just can't be beat. I believe that they scanned Tiger-131 if I am not mistaken? The visuals are great.
war thunder needs an overhaul of all ground forces movement. it was cutting edge in 2013, but the vehicles all glide around like sticks of butter, with what can only be described as a CVT transmission. the track physics were halfway implemented more recently- slack tracks work correctly, but the devs decided no one would notice if the tension on the sprocket wasn't correct, and it's extremely dissapointing. even WoT has this feature. not to mention, War Thunder's tanks are in absurdly poor condition, especially the older models (they use a mishmash of 2013 models to 2024- when a tank has been added, they never return to it, ever again, and you can see the quality difference between something like the Tiger II P and the Kungstiger) to be fair, their main point of reference are photos of knocked-out tanks, and the kubinka museum- USSR is the only country that would tolerate half the paint being missing on the roof and engine deck. The engine sounds are fairly accurate, but it's painfully obvious with both that there is no "load" on the engine- the vehicles they recorded from were simply being revved in neutral, and comparing it to Battlefield V makes it clear just how bad it is. but of course, War Thunder is never going to change anything, since all their playerbase cares about is the latest top tier tank or air-to-air missile)

For guys wondering. Gajin Does have a semi-full model that has an interior on Tiger H1. However, it's not in War Thunder but in Enlisted. Only reason is they did not use it in War thunder when using driver view because if they decided to fully model it inside. They need to make all of the tanks does that too which is IMO pain in the ass.
how so? it's pixellated and low-quality, not to mention the actual condition of the tank is abysmal- the wear on the paint makes it seem as though it hasn't been painted or washed since it left the factory, it's ridiculous. especially for a german tank, which were always kept in as good of physical and mechanical condition as possible, and frequently painted in camoflauge to match their location, with every operation they took part of
@alastarrio A tank only remains in "new" condition for a VERY short time....during a actual war, there is no time for touch-ups and a wash and wax. They are machines of war, not showpieces. The smoke animation on Il2 is also a very 2d...maybe another point for WT there. The tanks on il2 looks factory fresh..not the war machines that has been through the punishment of constant use and abuse.

They over exaggerated the condiction of their vehicle models like too much rust, scratches, mud and all the unecessary effects. The textures in general are outdated with lower quality and faded color. That is why when they updated old vehicles with HD model you won't find those effects on them because even the devs knew it looks terrible. Also in war thunder there is a mechanic that make a vehicle get dirtier the more you drive around in the map with it so it is unnecessary to make fake effects on the vehicle instead of it being factory new.

Go to: Options, Ground vehicle Battle Settings, Sight settings I know that there are no WW2 era sights in the selection as of now, but that doesn't mean there won't be in the future
You can enable it in the options that the gunner sight is where it is on the real tank, and the sights you can mod in yourself there is no problem in that

One thing I've always liked about the Il-2 is seeing the inside of the tank and I think it will be interesting see these comparisons with War Thunder. Very good video indeed.
In IL-2 technique looks, and sounds “brighter”. in War Thunder the same sounds are monotonous. the same Tiger, the sound of the transition between speed shifts, physics, in WT tank as on rails rides. in WT task to rivet clones of equipment for the arcade, in IL-2 initially it is a simulator and the developer retains the style of the simulator.
War Thunder looks incredibly outdated. The model textures are faded and way too many scratches, rust and mud on the vehicle in an attempt to make it looks realistic but it just look bad imo. Also i love the vehicle movement in IL-2 on uneven grounds made the tank roll side to side while in war thunder the tank just drove smoothly like the whole ground is flattened and it look boring, soulless and weightless. Not to mention the suspensions, wheels and tracks physics in IL-2 are so satisfying to watch. OVerall War Thunder is a very old game, the graphics has weak color grading and vehicle physics barely get updated.

The one thing I don’t like about war thunder is how every shot emits a massive fireball, especially when you get to high tier auto cannons and chain guns. A lot of the time when you shoot, you just see white and grey smoke

IL-2 by far has a better modelled Tanks in General, I honestly prefer IL-2's exterior model compared to War Thunder (with only a couple changes I could see making it even better). War Thunder definitely does the Main Gun and Machinegun sounds better, But if they could replace some of the Machinegun sounds and Main gun sounds with Red Orchestra 2 onto the IL-2's model of the Tiger it would be near perfect to me. I was always looking to Add RO2's sounds into War Thunder.

I always feel like modern games are such a downgrade compared to the older ones that focused more on detail. Just like GTA 4 and 5.
War Thunder is a multiplayer focused game not everything can be realistic, il2 is a strict historical accurate game with don’t cut corners anywhere.

IL2 also has crew voices and is better IMO. Not sure why they're not in the video I guess he muted them
That's not the high-res version of War Thunder, gotta download the better textures for a better comparison. Also noticed that the graphics aren't all the way turned up with those gnarly mip mapping issues. ^^
IL-2 looks really cool, tho the textures are a bit too crisp to look realistic.

IL is a simulator. War Thunder is just an online game. Anyway, i just wanted to say that World of Tanks has similar track physics as IL. Too bad the rest of the game sucks.
How to get driver view in warthunder
Go to controls then ground vehicles. Under camera control, you'll find it. (Or search up "Driver Camera" in the search menu)
