The American M8 Greyhound light armored car was a very prolific vehicle during WW2. There's even a recorded instance of one destroying a heavier German tank, possibly a Tiger or Panther. In War Thunder is is capable of the same feat, but in its native battle rating of 1.0 it is an absolutely absurd vehicle. Possibly even overpowered. Gaijin could probably move it up and it'd still do very well.

In case you missed it, .50 cal SLAP rounds were actually added to the game last update for the AH-6M's GAU-19s. For as far as I know it's the only vehicle that has them though, but just imagine every US .50 cal in game having SLAP rounds lmao
50 cal SLAP rounds can open through 2 inches(57mm) of titanium, there is a video about it.
Now imagine M16 with that.

just bringing back pre-nerf black tip AP would change dynamics a lot. That thing would cut up most T1 tanks frontally at close range, if you knew where to aim.

We used to carry SLAP-T rounds on our M1a1s in Afghanistan. Can confirm, nasty fucking round.
I will NEVER forgive Gaijin for the 10th Anniversary vehicle giveaway. I got literally every single vehicle I didn't want, and none of the vehicles I wanted. Chief among them, the M8 Greyhound in the US tree.
I can go play the one in China, of course, and it's still a blast. I just think it's criminal that such an iconic American vehicle is limited to a highly limited (or expensive) event premium.
They did the same thing with the 75mm puma.
In the china tech tree the round of th .50 does nothing
@@GeraltofRivia22 Even the Sd.Kfz.251/22, the "PaK-track," got thrown into a battle pass instead of the tech tree.
It was pretty much the only vehicle I wanted to get from the anniversary, and I got it. I REFUSE to play China. I also got the XF5F and the I-29 and a couple of stupid boats I will never play because naval is garbage. it was nice that the Snail did that but I still want the Boarhound.
Most of the iconic vehicles the player base keeps calling for get made into premiums. Recently they are made into battle pass vehicles for rank 1000 with them knowing full well that anyone with a life would need to purchase the vehicle to have it.
What’s a true nightmare for every vehicle in the game is the swing fire with it for sure being sooo good…..

@@tedparkinson2033 If it wasn't for the broken ass overpressure/hulljank from scope hits it would have been less bad. That and the fact it can't turn hard straight out of the tube making it impossible to shoot in front of you. It was called Swingfire for a reason.
Worse spade has to be the doing all the Dusters before the BR drop, which they still wither to everything, but take less research and don't bankrupt you the same.
@@lector-dogmatixsicarii1537 I'd say what makes the Swingfire such a pain is the missiles aren't done right. Those Swingfire missiles were apparently able to do 90° turns almost immediately after launch. Instead they just kinda fly over whatever you aim at.
About that T28's red guy, I think what happened is that because you kept machine-gunning him, the "kill cam" never went away, and never updated the position of that guy after he moved to replace some other crew member

1:52 theres a glitch with the hit cam where if you continuously fire and not allow the hit cam to dissappear, the crew positions dont update.
The reason why that guy ate so many rounds is because he was no longer in that position.
He was probably moved to the main guns seat.

The thing that kills me the most is the fact that the only place to get it outside of an event is in the Chinese tech tree
That whole tree is literally a collection of all the best US, German, and Russian vehicles at every BR to try and pander to the Chinese F2P gaming market.

I honestly only play Sim to have fun in Bombers. the A-1H and A2D are insane at taking out enemy bases if the AA doesnt nuke you from 3 miles away.

After a 23 kill, 16 assist game in the M8, I decided to avoid it since I felt like I was kicking puppies (It works great even up to 3.7)

I just wish there was some way to Scout in tier 1 light vehicles so I could bring it up into some higher BR's.

@@blockstacker5614 I've suggested that tier 1 light vehicles have a Modification that you can apply to bump their BR up to 2.7 but give them Scouting.
The .50 is the exact reason I love the M8 Scott so much. The heat round is great too, the amount of KVs and Tigers I've trolled in it is astronomical.

It's also been suggested it was a StuG, as that's what the German unit engaged in the area was equipped with.
It's important to remember that "Tiger" might as well have been synonymous with "armoured fighting vehicle" to the American GI.

The T-35 at the start is so menacing the way all its turrets swiveled to face it's attacker.
As menacing as it was, that T-35 player is the “slowest” I’ve ever seen (why can’t the ones I encounter be like that).

Hey Spook, you should play the Semovente 75/46 M43. It's a deeply overshadowed italiano tank destroyer which can deliver an heavy punch but it's deeply ignored the potential it has.

@diggy's games it's more than having something nice, france is plagued with issues our snail god doesn't want to fix
AMX is perhaps one of the best of it's kind. Char 25t is also a beast. France does have some solid vehicles, just not really good lineups around them
@Slav King that's the thing, the French tree has no versatility at most BRs. And it's really nothing special except for the later vehicles and the auto-loaders that come with some of them. We don't even have a Bluewater Navy that isn't locked behind a pay wall. So yeah we can't have nice things without grinding through half of the tech trees.

Think about it, m2a2 or T60 (yeah shvak is just a .50 equivalent and the first version of it in fact was 12.7mm) rely on a single .50 as main gun at br 1.0. So literally your M8 is two different flavor 1.0 tanks glued together.

Personally i found it quite fun to play when i started to grind China. And yes, the .50 on that thing is quite the doombringer.

I've killed a KT (P) with a Locust once, back before volumetric. I'm not sure if the 37 MM can do much to a KT (H). I've tried it in test drive, but it seems the only place you can pen is in between the turret and chassis (shot trap) from the sides or back, but the turret ring takes most of the damage; it has to be very close range too.
Yeah, Locust can take out KT (H) but only through the turret ring.
I think there's a Thundershow episode that shows a locust massacre bunch of KT

I love doing this but with the Daimler AC, mostly because it’s open-topped and has great gun-depression in a remarkably small turret.
It’s also fast, manoeuvrable, stabilizer and has practically the same gun in the form of the 2-pdr as the American 37mm.
I was lucky and ended up getting the M8 during the Sturmtiger event. Great video!
