Not sure how anyone could have had an issue with these instructions. Super easy and was done within 45min. Never installed a lock before, either. Thanks!!!
so what do you do if you open the box pull everything out and start the install only to find the turnpiece on the interior assembly will not move to the vertical position and only turns in the downward motions? it won't match up with the torque blade and the turnpiece shaft. they face opposite directions.
Hi and here to help! Please see Page 2, Section 4-C of the installation guide, linked below, which illustrates how to rotate the D-shape spindle. With the interior assembly of the lock removed from the door, rotate the turn-piece clockwise until you hear a click (force if necessary with it off of the door), and it will rotate to the vertical position, which will place the D-shape spindle in the correct direction. Should you need additional assistance, please contact our Support Team at 1-800-327-5625. kwik.st/3Os6HHK
Important thing to remember is that up until step 5 the turnpiece will NOT be smooth and will actually get stuck in vertical position (this is mentioned in the paper instructions that came along with the lock). I almost decided to return it back. Glad I looked at the paper instructions. Once the battery pack is in, somehow it becomes smooth.
In step 3 where the screws go through the plate to the keypad side, my screws will not go in all the way, I can muscle them but it seems to very extremely cross threaded and will not snug up to the door at all! Any suggestions?
Is there a difference in installing this lock in a RH vs LH swing door? I bought two of these and the RH door like the one in the video went together smooth with no hiccups but when I followed the same instructions on the LH swing door when I got to the end of the install the motorized lock was reversed and when I pressed lock it was backward and I can't figure out a way to get the motor to throw the bolt the other way. I got a workaround with this temporarily by installing the key cylinder and the bolt upside down. Now it locks and closes but the key is installed upside down and the interior manual lever is upside down. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Hi William - here to help! To ensure the lock completes the manual door handing process, please make sure that the lock was installed with the latch in the extended position. Replace the batteries and follow these steps: 1. Open the door and extend the latch to the locked position. 2. Remove the battery pack. 3. Press and HOLD the Program button while reinserting the battery pack-release button once the battery pack is installed. The status LED will flash red and green. 4. Press the Program button once more. 5. The latch bolt will retract about halfway in and then extend to learn the orientation of the door. This is the most specific installation video you could ever find. Honestly anyone can do it if they follow this correctly. Made it so easy for me.
Thanks so much for the feedback! -- Kwikset Social
This is the best RUclips video installation guide I have seen yet for anything
This is the best video ever. Its the only one I use to install the 909 smart key. The paper instruction is painful. . .thx
Great instructions. Was going to take set back. Two other videos were waste of time. This one is best instruction video I've ever seen. Thanks.
Thanks Vinny! Glad our video was able to help you.
How could anyone dislike this video! Thanks. Thumbs up!
This link should be the ONLY thing on the installation page. This video is clear and essential to easy, successful installation.
