Was there a big update in 2021 and later fusions? I've seen one for sale locally and almost looks like this but it has internal routing. Can it be considered a aggressive MTB? Kinda looks close to the growler a d I know that's aggressive. Any info would help. I can't find anything on the newer ones.
Great video. Can I ask how tall you are and what frame size you would ride in the 2020 Fusion? I’m 5”9.5 and seem to be right in between M and L. Any advice? Thanks!
I'd say go for the medium. I'm around 5'7" and I feel like the small is just slightly too small for me. I kinda wish I had gone for a medium but the small fits me well enough. You're a little bit taller than me so the medium should be perfect.
It's perfect for that. It's a cross country style mountain bike so it's light, quick and efficient. In terms of mountain biking, it's a great all-rounder that can handle some decent sized jumps and drops while climbing really easily. In terms of road riding, the 29" wheels and quick release hubs mean you can easily and affordably get a spare set of road/hybrid tires or a complete second set of wheels with hybrid tires to quickly change over for different types of rides.
I went with a Spank bar. It has a little bit of rise but the angles made the big difference. If you don't like Spank, Raceface is a good brand. Rocky Mountain uses their parts on high end models and a lot of the staff at Cyclepath uses them. The Raceface Turbine is our best seller.
Honestly if I were to upgrade my fork, I'd probably just get the Rockshox 30 which is basically the same thing but with an air chamber. You could go higher end but you'd probably have to change your wheels to a set with a thru-axle to match. One of the guys at the shop had a Rockshox Judy last year but it had a lot of reliability problems so he upgraded to a Rockshox Sid. You could go that route but I think the Sid is overkill for the Fusion.
Peter Collins you’re gonna think I’m annoying. Haha. So in the video you mention your crank started creaking. Mine just started doing that. I changed the bottom bracket no luck. Now I’m gonna change the chain rings cause they’re pretty grinded. What makes that creak? Am i going to need to change the whole crank?
@@cotef19 unfortunately that's exactly what you'll have to do. The problem was the hex shaped interface where the left arm bolted onto the spindle. The BB and chainrings were still perfectly fine. I went with the Shimano Deore M6000 2x10 cranks and they're rock solid so far.
I was torn between those two models but I chose the Fusion because it's a little more focused towards climbing and efficiency, and my area has a lot of climbs. If you have a lot of jumps, drops, and rough root/rock gardens, the Growler would be the better choice.
@@PeterCollinsCycling oh ok, yeah I’m in the Mississauga area so I assume the fusion would be a better choice, but still wanna tackle the trails and hard spots when I can.
@@baggedmilk1696 in my opinion the Fusion is the better bike for this area. The Growler would be the better choice if you want to the ride rougher trails like Don Valley, Hydrocut, or Horseshoe. Yes the Fusion frame is compatible with dropper posts. Availability is a problem right now. A lot of local stores including Cyclepath are totally sold out. You might have to shop outside the Toronto area or pre-order something for later this year.
@@PeterCollinsCycling thats really unfortunate, i was also looking at the DSX 1 and wondering if any of the stores had it in-house. ik its a big diff from the fusion but for this area i feel like its a good option
The Fusion 30 would be more comparable to the Soul 20 when it comes to spec. The main difference between the two other than wheel size is geometry. The Fusion is much more focused on efficiency and climbing, whereas the Soul is more focused on descents and rougher trails. The Fusion current Fusion 40 is a higher end build than those two and it's great for getting into XC racing.
@@samuell2832 we're doing everything curb side when possible. Give the shop a call before coming in and the staff up front can let you know exactly what's available.
I have the 2022 Fusion 10 and it's awesome too! And affordable!
I'm wanting to get this bike I like it a lot just by looking at it

Why are they using loose bearings? And also they use the Powerspline ?
Is the fusion 40 2022 model ok to use at a Bike park? I don’t plan on doing anything too extreme.

Peter Collins awesome. What about the fork. If i wanted to upgrade the XC 30 to something a bit more verrsatile/ performant. What would you recommend?
