      Why do you think Callaway and Taylormade got into the YT golf world by sponsoring so many creators? Easier access to the actual people who buy their clubs, equipment and apparel. They then get the pros they sponsor to come on the YT golfers channel to attract more viewers, increase their brand popularity and ultimately sell you more stuff. It's quite simple. Nobody is sniffing the wind...lol.

    Awesome content on an important topic that's often overlooked. @Micahmorrisgolf if you look at the divot patterns between you and Rickie on the long shot, you can see that yours go left of the target and Rickie's go at the target (see video at 6:22 and 7:25). I'd recommend trying to get your divot direction looking like his.
    Hitting across the ball will make it go higher and offers less room for error (e.g. easier for the ball to ride up the face and end up short, harder to control direction and distance, more opportunity for turf interaction to cause issues, etc.). You can tell by difference in the sound of the shots that his club face is more square to the ball at impact than yours.

    Hearing Rickie talk about the not ideal turf they are hitting off while it’s better than 99% of the courses most of us play is crazy. Golf is difficult but for us local course guys trying to practice off of muddy weeds is impossible. Many pros have said that playing local courses is sometimes harder than the PGA courses because the conditions are so bad. Not saying that’s the reason I shoot 90 but it sure doesn’t help.

    What Fowler said about the similarities of pros through impact is so true!! And he's a perfect example. His swing has that natural tendency to get really flat, yet through the impact zone, he is perfect, like the rest of the great ball strikers. Everything else can look different, but that small window looks almost identical for all the pros. .

    Love Ricky, out of every single time I have seen him donate his time to help the golf community for RUclips golfers he has always made some type of a positive contribution of knowledge. I can remember when golfers were very unapproachable, and didn’t wanna share their knowledge.
    Micah I know this is your channel but if I could give you one piece of advice, it seemed like Ricky would start to say something and you didn’t let him finish It’s a fault that I have myself when you’re excited to learn, and instead of listening we interject ! I hope you take that the right way it’s not meant to be taken badly but there’s a great deal in knowledge that I think in a few sentences he could’ve projected that we could’ve picked up on but he didn’t get to finish what he was saying.

    I wanted to improve my wedge game, and did so by hitting 3/4 of every bucket of balls I hit with gap wedge - 58 degree. It made a huge difference. I think Micah is the guy that hits a few wedges and then heads to 2 irons and driver at the range. You gotta prioritize wedges at the range. It’s hard to do, we all want to hit
    Long drives - it makes us feel like we got our moneys worth.
    One word of caution - a great wedge game will expose shoddy putting inside 10 feet.

  • @jakephelps4766
    @jakephelps4766 6 месяцев назад

    Since Rickie couldn't tell you why you are struggling a bit I will lol. From a fellow dumped to the inside player who struggled with wedges for years I have some unsolicited advice for you.
    Your pattern in your golf swing is to left side bend (left shoulder down) early in the backswing and drag your arms behind you. As a result of some excessive left side bend early in the backswing you naturally go the other way in transition/downswing (right side bend/trail side bend) which really shallows the club and drops it to the inside. Keep in mind your arms are already a bit across your chest and you add another shallowing element to the swing which really shifts your path out to the right, moves low point back so its natural your contact may not be great sometimes with a higher flight bc its hard to square the face from there. It's especially difficult on your wedges because it's a shorter swing so you dont have time to rotate your body to try and shift the path more left. This is why you are so great with the driver but can't flight your wedges.
    You have a couple options but the simplest thing not involving completely changing your motion would probably be to swing your normal backswing but feel like your left shoulder stays lower to the ground for longer (staying in left side bend longer in the downswing) while you rotate your chest towards target. This is going to get your path less to the right, low point more forward and angle of attack down. All these will make it easier to flight it down.
    Fair warning, you may struggle a little at first with a 'steeper' divot. This doesn't mean what you are doing is wrong.
