Well, I do believe that speaking is a skill that should be prioritized; however if speaking is the ONLY thing you do in class, the student will lose a chance to really learn. If they're only recycling - reusing the vocabulary and structures they already know, where's the learning? Where's the progress? Your lesson should include new input, e.g: a short video or an article that could be exploited which would help the student learn new vocabulary. There should always be a balance in the class, integrating what's already known into the new.

My bugbear was that video I had to make, which was part of the application process, and couldnt be skipped. Hopefully I will be allowed a 2nd chance of making a better video, as I assume it's probably the most important part of the application form!

Once you've been approved and have received your first client, how do you create "a lesson plan"? What does that process look like? Do you just carry a conversation, will they have questions, or is there a set program to follow?
Its mostly just conversations.
But you have a guidance on the platform since sometimes student ask for a feedback.

That is just not a livable wage in any sense, especially given it's not a consistent wage to begin with.
Hi Nikki, sounds like a fun platform to "teach" English! Is it true to say that one factor that will encourage students to give a higher rating is the video quality? Of course there are other factors. So, what camera are you using? The resulting video looks sharp and great! Thanks for sharing.
that's correct, I do believe camera quality helps tutors get more students, especially since they decide to book you based on your video introduction. I just use my mac camera that's already in my mac!

What are the lessons in Cambly? Or is it just a free conversation kind of class?
Hi Nikki, were you asked at any stage of the application process to provide any sort of ID to prove you're a native speaker?
Last night during dawn time I tried to register with Cambly by adding my information through "complete your tutor profile" so when I finished it wasn't letting me get my information in so I went back to Cambly help center but it wasn't helping so I made the terrible mistake of restarting my computer now it ante letting go back to complete the profile. Can you please help me out here I don't know what to do?
Can I see your profile, and the video you sent in? I am so afraid I won't be good enough. I only speak English. What if I can't understand what they are trying to say to me? Any tips or advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I do not have any teaching experience.

Hello Nikki. I filled in the profile and so forth around 6 months ago. It timed out before I could complete the demo video for the kid's class. Is there a way I can speak to you to get some advise on a way forward.

@@lotuswolf1518 There're so many classes on going simultaneously. You can join to a class where you fit. It's almost like a zoom class experience. Worth for money man! Try it!

How long does it take to get a response from Cambly. I applied about 8 month ago and never heard from them and I reapplied yesterday and have not heard anything.

I wondered what happens when a lesson first starts, do you have an idea what the student wants to learn in advance or do you have to ask them each time? thank you!
You can prepare your own thing, like prepare a news article, then you can evaluate their level. Also take turns to read (you read one paragraph and then the student does the next one), I always ask the students if they're preparing for IELTS or just trying to improve in general. Usually my students are very pleasantly surprised that I'm so prepared and give then many tips, since a lot of tutors only talk to them (which is good practice, but not much help of they need to improve their vocabulary)

I applied but they didn't email me that I was approved so I asked them about the application response they told me they rejected me it was automated but my profile is still under review. So I applied again and they told me that my application is received and they will answer in a few days or weeks I dunno if they're gonna accept me what do you think!

Hi! I am an italian girl, a college student, and I'm looking for a small stream of income that I can add to my pocket money. I was considering teaching on cambly, since I believe I am quite fluent in informal conversations, and I was very interested by the fac that Cambly allows you to work as much or as little as you want. Seems good for me, considering I have to study for my exams as well, but I have some questions I hope you can help me with.
Have you ever met students that have an english pronunciation that really makes it difficult to understand them? As I said, I am not a native english speaker so I don't want to find myself in the situation where I really can't understand what the student is trying to say.

you can ban them from cambly and it won’t hurt your ratings! PLUS even the flashers are still paying you
