Expanded Alternative: Each of the Islands are the exact same set of Islands, and each of them are candidates for the enrichment program who want to work with the Humans up close
@PancreantT1D For some strang reason, all the male humans really like to have Anka as a keeper. They keep asking her to dance and like it when she looks down on them... We should investigate this further.
The early animal crossing games have much more sassier and mean characters, so I’m guessing that’s when they were first starting the zoos and they didn’t really know what behaviors and enrichment humans benefit from
Not to mention no two players can be in the same village at the same time in earlier games. So later is the post "allowing humans to be in the same zoo" phrase
And they now have the ability to fly you to other human made islands, alongside phones and the ability to jump to other islands using dreams instead. This implies there was indeed talks of rights, we just accepted the reasoning for being put in captivity and asked for the ability to visit other's also in captivity. I bet that was an interesting conversation.
They only really act like that in the newer games. In the original animal crossing, it felt like humans were some sort of second class citizen. You basically lived in a ghetto with all the other humans.
honestly that makes it worse because it paints the picture that humans were mistreated so badly that they ended up becoming endangered and now their being cared for carefully while the population recovers
That's probably where you come from at the start of the game. Some breeding center. Why else would you be moving away with literally just the clothes on your back and absolutely no plan?
human domestication guide is an interesting collection of stories. it's an amazing concept with tons of untapped potential, but due to the inherent nature of it, most stories I've read tend to focus on the humans. I'd love to see a story written from the perspective of an Affini. maybe their new human is resisting the domestication, and they for whatever reason hear the human out instead of patronizing them. it's a weird, uncomfortable relationship dynamic, but one that would make for one heck of a story. edit: sorry about being such a nerd
@QuinnMillard-jv3ri funny that you mention it because a friend and i were writing something like that some time ago,,, a young first bloom, inexperienced and feeling inadequate at their functions, suddenly being put in charge of a floret and being all like "aw no sorry i don't wanna hurt you ::'(" and they end up relating to each other's struggles and loving each other and it was so cute.....
I mean, even the barrier around the island is just part of the enclosure. It also makes sense how Gulliver keeps washing up on the same island day after day - it's staged, they just found some sleepy birb and paid him to nap on the beach with a few lines to get you to find some planted pieces of a phone. Even the way that, if you're out at night, you get sent back to your home at 6:59am - tranq darts, they come in and reset all the things that need resetting (like the aforementioned phone pieces, bells in rocks, etc), move you to your home, and then pretend it's still 7am when you wake up. Also the scorpions and spiders are genetically modified to have tranquilizing venom instead of anything dangerous. If you're caught by them, there's someone watching who'll swoop in and bring you home, administer the antivenin, and you'll be up in no time. Pascal is just the stoner lifeguard in case you start to drown. Zipper T Bunny and Cornimer were the "we don't have enough budget to hire more actors but we need to provide more events" solution - that's why Cornimer stopped appearing in later games, and ZTB is just a mascot suit that anyone can wear so they kept that around.
What about your mom sending you letters but you can’t send her letters. Does that mean you and her were separated because of these zoos and she has no idea where you are or is your mother just some villager writing those letters to provide comfort because the villagers can call their parents but you can’t.
I have a little bit more to add onto this theory XD, Imagine that they DO know that other humans exists, and they’re all being kept separated from each other, however, imagine visiting someone’s island is just your zookeepers letting you visit another human to see how humans would interact with each other 😭. So in reality, maybe in animal crossing, humans are endangered, keep them in their own individual “islands”, and allow them to meet each other to study how humans interact 😭 (I put WAYYYY too much thought onto this ;-;) It can also, ironically, explain why some people get banned from visiting islands, because they were acting “aggressive” towards the other humans, and they had to be put in timeout until they can learn how to behave 💀😭
My headcanon for my island (ACNH) is that my player character is an android/robot caretaker of the island and there is no human left in the Animal Crossing world; the animals has taken over and has made a zootopia-type leap in evolution (from feral to full consciousness) hence why we see regular animals, prehistoric animal bones and full human skeleton model that doesnt match the animal crossing players.
the- the reactions villagers teach you- they're teaching their human tricks they're teaching you tricks AND IT WORKS BC YOU CAN'T DO THE REACTIONS UNTIL THEY'RE SHOWN TO YOU
This theory makes me laugh because it literally only makes sense for the newest animal crossing games, which have failed so miserably to make the villagers feel realistic like they were before that people genuinely have to create insane explanations for how this could be
@iii-m8h I mean, it's a pretty fair assumption to make? They talk about how artificial Animal Crossing feels and that's honestly a pretty new problem, because if you play the first 3 or so animal crossing games, you will never feel like the game could take place in the sort of setting this post describes, but New Horizons especially makes this theory make sense. The villagers used to treat you pretty harshly at times, and only like you after you spend a lot of time with them, which is not how a simulated environment like this post describes would exist, while the new games have the villagers always be somewhat nice to you like they think you're the main character and center of reality, which is a new thing for the series and feels unnatural enough for a theory like this to emerge
@@thiskindofstuffreeksdude So they weren't endangered, but they were put into the exact same setup for a town as they would be when they do become endangered? Occam's razor should have already been called here I think...

So, what if the visiting other Islands/towns features are actually them having humans have interactions with their own kind for mental wellness. It explains why you can't change much bc it isn't your enclosure Like it's you bringing your dog for them to have a playdate with another person's dog
I love animal crossing. At the end when Tom Nooks says "Look at all the animals crossing around the village" and the player character looks at Tom and says "This is...Animal Crossing!"
The funny thing is that you can actually make them not happy to see you. Chris Chan was so bad at the game that his characters would run from him when he approached them.
This was always one of the funniest things about Chris Chan for me. Characters that are literally programmed to be incessantly friendly and accepting, almost to the point of being irritating because nothing you do seems to put even the slightest chip in their relentless positivity. They are built this way. They shouldn't know any other way. But Chris Chan is so uniquely horrifying that fictitious characters that were built exclusively to be your friends, run from him on sight

When other humans come over to visit, it must be like some big deal to the others then.
We got Truman crossing before gta6
Saw this earlier and am once again mentioning that Doomguy and Isabel are canonically married because both devs said yes. This means that animal crossing is in the doom universe. The humans are endangered because demons killed them
I never head the crossing part and just thought this person was criminally insane
We're looping back to the truman show god dammit
Ah yes Truman Crossing
I believe its a Truman show scenario
I know someone HAS to have commented this but it feels like the animal crossing equivalent of Truman show mixed with the equivalent of a Species Survival Plan/Wildlife Conservation
This should be an anime
I heard animal crossing, and didn’t think about the game. I thought we were talking about Animal (DNA) crossing.
It's just the Truman Show lmao
Well this was a horrifying thought to come across after discovering the human domestication guide and still not being fully recovered
Truman Crossing
