Arnel Pineda has a great voice and I won't deny that he can sing Journey songs, but there is only one Steve Perry.

Hey Jay and Amber, this "isn't" Steve Perry. It's Arnel Pineda. He's one of the many singers Journey has had and is currently the one still with the band.

This is Arnel Pineda, they re-recorded alot of their earlier songs with him,but most of the original songs were recorded with Steve Perry who left the band more than 20 years ago, and he has put out new music in the last few years. Arnel has been the lead singer for the band for more than 15 years. With several other singer's in between for short periods of time. Steve Perry has been known as the G.O.A.T of singer's, the greatest of all time. He stopped singing for quite a while, he fell in love with a woman who had cancer and she made him promise to go back to singing after she passed away, which he did do. Steve Perry is in his 70s and Arnel is in his 50s.Journey still tours and performs.

@@ATalkingBadger I didn't mention the name of the album Arnel Pineda has re-recorded many of the songs that are originally sung by Steve Perry, and the songs were reissued sung by Arnel Pineda and they were selling quite well. Many people who are newer to Journey don't know about the history of Steve Perry, because he hasn't been heard from in many years.

@@ATalkingBadger Arnel did rerecord songs that Steve had sung back from his time with Journey. The band acknowledged that when they released the new album.
If Steve had to be replaced, Arnel was the perfect compliment. So much so that if you didn’t know, and you didn’t, he’s so close to Steve that it’s easy to think it’s him. The one giveaway is Steve has much more rasp.
You need to check out the documentary about how Journey found their current lead singer.

The singer on this is Arnel Pineda, the one that currently sings for Journey.
Since you asked...Neal Schon is the lead guitarist for Journey, and I believe is the ONLY Journey member to be in the band for 100% of their lifespan. He also played in Santana before Journey and Bad English late 80s early 90s (with Jon Cain of Journey) during Journey's hiatus then. He is simply an AMAZING guitarist all around.
Could you imagine being 16 years old and being asked to join arguably two of the greatest guitar players ever, Santana and Eric Clapton? Then go on to play for arguably the greatest band ever?
A phenomenal music career he has had.
Speaking of Bad English, once and current drummer Deen Castronovo was also in Bad English. That's why Job and Neil brought him in after Trial By Fire when Steve Smith left the 2nd time
I know a lot of people say Arnel sounds just like Steve. Funny, I knew it wasn't him from the first note.
Although I knew it wasn’t Steve Perry I do think he sounds a lot like him. They likely don’t know there is another lead singer for Journey besides Steve Perry.

The singer on this song is Arnel Pineda not Steve Perry. This song is from about 15 years ago. Great song.
As others have mentioned, "Mother Father" (Live in Houston - 1981) is an absolute MUST! Steve Perry hits notes at the end that will blow your mind, and Neal Schon (guitar) goes crazy as well.

Steve Perry was lead. He left and their current lead aid Arnel Pineda. Guitar is original band member Neil Schon. They are still touring with Arnel. They still sound incredible. Saw them a few months ago in Las Vegas. Sold out show with a special guest Toto. What an amazing night of music! Keep up your great work. This channel rocks! Sending love from sunny SoCal!

You're absolutely right, Steve Perry has phenomenal vocals and undeniably one of the greatest voices ever!! With that being said, this is not Steve, but still a good song!!
Little doubt here that had this actually been Steve Perry (let's say he recorded it with a cold or something that altered the tone/sound of his voice a bit), you'd be saying it's an EXCELLENT song. Which it is.

Yes, please react to mother, father & lights. Lights is a song about San Francisco, the bands home town. Also, there is about a 1 hour documentary, you can find on RUclips, about how how Journey found Ariel Pineda, and how he was the perfect replacement for Steve. Doc called Don't Stop Believing. The band is touring. If you have an opportunity to see them, do so. Watch the documentary 🙂

As you have already been told this is not Steve Perry, but Arnel Pineda their current lead singer. Journey over the years have had six different front men. You should research and find out which ones were at what time and what albums. The band has actually had a very amazing journey, no pun intended.

I woke up one morning hearing this on the radio. I was so excited that Journey got back together. Then I found out they have a new lead singer Arnel Pineda. That was 17 years ago. I saw them in concert, and he was amazing.
Asking for Journey songs.... Two favorites are Sweet and Simple and Stay Awhile.
I believe they came close to losing him as their lead vocalist a while back and I'm not sure if they've ever got all their problems ironed out. It was 2 of the other band members clashing over a credit card and money being spent but apparently the one spending it didn't seem to think it was none of the other ones business and somehow Arnel got dragged in the middle of it and I watched a RUclips video where he called em out and told em if they had anything to say to him just bring it to his face because he was ready to go back home anyways. And he said he wanted no part of the arguments and I guess in a round about way he was telling them to get it together or he was leaving. And he's as close as you will ever ever get to Steve. And I'd love to see you all react to a live video of Arnel with them ! He will blow your mind ! Such a master vocalist !

Every singer that Journey has had since Steve had to walk away has been a Perry sound alike. They may be able to sing in the same register as Steve, but none of them have been able to convey the emotion of Steve Perry.
Everyone is comment like they’re surprised they didn’t realize this isn’t Steve Perry. The man singing literally got the job in the band because he was posting journey cover songs because he was able to sound just like Steve Perry.

Please do the song Suzanne from the album Raised on Radio. It's an overlooked gem that combines all the power, yearning, and appeal that Journey brings without fail. When I got this cassette and cd, I wore this song out. The whole album really. This album was the beginning of the end since Steve went on hiatus right after this in 1987 after the Raised on Radio tour.
My favorite Journey songs are Send Her My Love and Suzanne. However, you can throw on any Journey album and I'm right there yowling along with almost every song.

This is Arnel Pineda from the "Revelations" album. Still a great Journey song... one of their best.
As it has already been explained below, this is Arnel Pineda, a Filipino Neal Schon discovered back in 2008 when he was surfing the internet looking for possible replacements for Steve Perry. He found that in Arnel singing Journey cover songs in the Philippines. Neal flew him over to the states for a rehearsal. He was blown away!!!!!! He sounds a lot like Steve Perry, as you can tell. This is the first album recorded with Arnel. This song stands up against a lot of their songs, but never became a hit which is sad because this song is so beautiful!!! My wife is adores him so much since she is Filipino as well!!! Check out Never Walk Away, which is also from this album!!!!

Arnel Pineda is a Steve Perry sound alike. He doesn't hold a candle go Steve IMO.
Who does? For that matter, who could? No one has searched harder than Neal Schon and Arnel is the closest he could find. Close, but not cigar. Arnel is a great singer, but there is only one Steve Perry,and that is just the way it is.
The guitar players name is Neal Schon. He's been with Journey since the beginning. But he first played with Carlos Santana when he was younger.
I don’t think you’ve done it yet, but I’d definitely recommend “Send Her My Love” it’s a great listen and a similar tune to this!

I’ve never heard Arnel. I think it’s great that they are still out there making music. This was a good Journey esqe song. I do understand, I’m a Queen fan, and at first I had a problem with Adam, but I went to the show and even though it wasn’t the same as with Fred, I could appreciate how it keeps the spirit of the band alive and thriving.

Hey guys this this Arnel Pineda, Steve Perry's replacement.
Two Journey songs you still need to react to that you both will really like are "Why Can't This Night Go on Forever" which is another great power ballad. The other song is "Once You Love Somebody" which has a great bass guitar intro. Both songs are some of their most underrated from their HUGE catalog.

Great song choice! A few others that are extremely popular at their concerts are, “Still They Ride” and two higher energy songs, “Stone In Love” and “Be Good To Yourself”, which is one of my favorite songs from them, because of the message it sends! ❤😊
The Arnel Pineda and Journey story is in a documentary on RUclips called Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey. I highly recommend this one. You will enjoy. One other thing: Drummer Deen Castronovo sings and also sounds enough like Steve Perry. Normally Steve was his own harmony singer, so live Journey didn't sound the same as studio Journey. Deen is the X factor. He sings phenomenal leads and harmonies. In his version of Mother, Father Deen shows his chops.... Vocally and on the Drums. Impressive work. Love Journey in all its versions

I almost drove off the road the first time I heard this song on the radio. I was so excited that Steve was back! Then I found out it was their new singer and I tried really hard to not drive my car off the road and over a cliff from the disappointment. Pineda is pretty good though.

Arnel Pineda is a chameleon. dude can do Toto, Chicago, Cheap Trick, Bryan Adams, Survivor, etc. songs and still sounds close to the original..pls react to his/their version of Steve Miller's "Abracadabra" (with Joel Hoekstra, Billy Sheehan, etc.)... now that you've got a "taste" of what Filipinos can do vocally, it's time to dig deep, especially our female singers, i promise you, you'll never be disappointed..thanks again for the reaction guys
