I think Red might've given them a ride home. He could probably be charged with manslaughter or attempted manslaughter if he didn't help them, because it's pretty much impossible for a pre-teen to scale down that mountain without any pokémon or experience.
It depends on the game, I've ran two games cuz there's no crazy setup you need to do, you just need a basic understanding of the mechanics, know where any traps are and how to screw with the A.I. (Not Pokémon btw, I would NEVER run a Pokémon game, I just couldn't deal with that XD)

The chances of not killing Zard apparently should be 14,5%. Ignoring the chances of Blastoise not getting a crit over 3 Hydro Cannons, the total probability of all of this happening would be 7,2*6,9*70*14,5/100000000= 0,05% which is one in 2000 chances.

Basically, if you don't set up your Sp. Def, Def and Sp. Attack on time, without getting them lowered by Blastoise's Focus blast, you're fuck. One Sp. Defense level lower than you should be, and the run is over. Also, one critical hit, and it's over. This is how professional speedruning works. And this is why Werster specifies in the FAQ that this run, involves luck. It's not about "what if Werster did this or that". It's that, if you don't get your stats at the right, exact value, consider yourself fuck.

This is called "routing", because they can't go blind into each fight and just hope to get the best time. And only if you have the right numbers or a way to get the right numbers during a battle, you can win. The game is designed to be like that. During a normal gameplay you might not notice it that much but during a competition the margin is so tight, being a single digit bellow the required stats can be fatal simply because an attack kills you instead of leaving you with 1 or 2 hp.

He is correct. Speed runs like Werster runs are single segment, where he plays the game in one sitting without saves or resets, only restarting when the run is over or messed up.

Morlacaz he will still have to use the same amount if not a little bit less of full restores and x items to beat 6 pokemon 20+ levels higher than his own, even if the moves are super effective there’s no guarantee that it will kill or even do half. Waste of time and it’s so much slower. Horrible idea.

Actually, the Pokemon you use depends on the Pokemon your opponent will send out. It will be different depending on the Type(s).
It's not random, red goes for charizard because typhlosion has a type advantage on venusaur
So basically Turtoise with a ice move could have been the winning point.

Morlacaz he will still have to use the same amount if not a little bit less of full restores and x items to beat 6 pokemon 20+ levels higher than his own, even if the moves are super effective there’s no guarantee that it will kill or even do half. Waste of time and it’s so much slower. Horrible idea.
