I am positive now that "critical hits" are Pokemon's way of punishing people who try to play through the game underleveled. The game designers' excuse is that critical hits are two-sided, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were made to encourage people to train/grind more.
@@Tamiss and D. Val I think both of those cases are very well possible. 1. I've witnessed the underleveled case first hand in BnW, against Alder. My highest mon was barely 63 and the bugger got crit on crit on crit off me. 2. There must definitely be a function in the game's battle system code, wherein the more x items you use, the more a count variables increments and the chance of the ai's critting rises by the same factor.
Look on the bright side, Werster! At least he let your player character go home after beating you instead of, I dunno, throwing him off the top of Mt. Silver and leaving him for dead with nothing but fainted pokemon!
With as many chances as there are to die when hit by a critical, it actually seems unlikely to get through a smooth run without it being ruined by one. I'm surprised Werster expects things to go well (shown by anger).
+Thiago Zagonel de Linhares Pikachu has a mostly physical moveset, including Volt Tackle (BP 120). Blastoise only has special moves, and he needs to recharge after each Hydro Cannon, so Werster can set up more easily. At least, that’s my guess…
Light Ball Pikachu will do much more damage compared to Blastiose's moveset due to how AI works. Pikachu will nearly always kill itself and you using Volt Tackle, not giving much chance to reliably setup. On the other hand, since the AI understands that Hydro Cannon will end up in recharge the AI rarely uses and instead uses the other three which are much easier to stall against. And at that time when Focus Blast PPs are over, Hydro Cannon is no longer a problem thanks to X SpDef boost.
Snorlax has good Special Defense and HP, and with his ability that neutralize fire and ice attacks, that flamethrower wasn’t going to kill him. Maybe a focus blast would but idk.
As someone who has tried to beat the post game gen 5 elite 4 with only a foongus. I could feel your soul leave your body, and the blood drain soon after
Is there any reason Werster doesn't save in front of Red and then just reset in cases like that first crit? Or are you not allowed to do that in these runs? That is some utterly horrific luck though, real shame at that late stage in the run too!
Ahhh I see! Thanks for that! I'm not entirely clued up on all the individual rules for the runs, but if you did that I guess it'd come under a whole new category of speedrun...
speedrun... Would ev training the pokemon help? for example put 252 ev points in special attack and speed? And teach typhlosion blast burn for that damage?
That Pikachu holds Light Ball which makes it an offensive monster. It would spam Volt Tackle which would nearly OHKO (if not OHKO) Typhlosion which isn’t great at defence.
I remember coming in this dungeon to find a legendary (I forgot which one is found here.) And wandered to far in. I was curious about who the person was on top and I spoke to him. Fresh level 65 and one 70 lugia. Somehow I won thanks to some potions. Never again will I speak to Red without being prepared 😑
I'm surprised you are oy at level 65, try getting a second pokemon to diversify and see if you can with exp share or something have them both high enough in time?
To get World Record(Beating the game in fastest speed possible) he has to elimitate red's team in the least time possible, and since his only leveled pokemon is Typlosion, he has to use x-items to not get rekt
Well of course red is going to destroy someone who only got their first pokemon 4 hours ago

there is an special event in game, if played in certain day and hour the hail is replaced with harmless diamond dust or something like that
