Good information. But there is no any tantitive guidelines for the asst.professor recruitment. Some time back, it was decided that NET/Ph.D is compulsory, Some time only NET required, Some time only PG. It is confusing the educated job aspirants for asst.professor.
If we analyse most of the PhD has no social implications or invention except 1 % which is very rare. I am NET n PhD professional with no much change in career or package in private institution. If I had continued more time in industry probably i would have shared more to the society including self growth. So far industry orientation or bridge didn't happen in India. Infact i have trained professors for entrepreneurship in 2012.
The basic qualification for Assistant professor job is a minimum 50Lakhs rs. Doesn't matter how much qualification you have, iif you doesn't have monney tthen Assistant professor job is a distant dream
I have had experience being interviewed for Professor in MBA college under GTU whereby the interviewers were all PhDs, but failed to understand my 35 years of US + Indian corporate experience and additionally they could not even talk properly in English. This was a hillarious experience for me as I was already a lecturer in the College with experience in lecturing in 2 other recognized colleges. PhD. just creates book worms who just cannot stand any chance in teaching against an actual hands-on corporate experience. So, requiring PhD. for professorship is just a farce and most PhDs. have failed to keep updated with real world scenarios. So, PhD. just makes one a bookworm with an ego, unless one has hand-on atleast 10 years of corporate experience and not just Govt. experience. Further, how many corporates respect PhDs..in India? There is a common perception that, PhD. means a bookworm with inflated ego, and it can only lead to Professorship 😂. Additionally, the other noticeable experience is that, those professors then find themselves in a comfort zones within the colleges, start playing politics during their tenure, do not keep updated with teaching methodologies and pedagogies and worst fail to provide real world guidance as they themselves have no hand-on experiences😂. My views are based on my personal experiences.

I cleared JRF this year in my first attempt and I'm not going for a PhD or an assistant professor job. Most useless exam ever because of no jobs and you can only get ahead if you have tons of contact with politicians or very senior departmental professors.
Ma'am... I had cleared NET and appeared for two interviews at government affiliated colleges for the post of assistant professor. But there were lot of candidates with PhD and they get about 20 marks for having PhD and obviously I stood no chance there. Having cleared NET seemed to make no difference.

To become AP, NET Or SET Must be compulsory and mandatory. Ph.D degree genuineness is always in doubt. Ph.D degree can be eligible for research and to publish in journals.

It wasn't mandatory. A simple MSc is enough. These are just guidelines. Even if the university will shortlist your application, i doubt people without NET and PhD stand much chance.

Mam, I am from Tamilnadu. I have cleared SLET Law. In TN, they conduct exam for direct recruitment of Assistant Professors in Govt. Law colleges through TRB once in 4 years.Will these exams happen now after this announcement?
TRB will conduct the exam, otherwise there would be no transparency. Guest Lecturers in TN know the ins & outs of the college. If govt gives a green light to the college management, GLs would immediately pay lakhs of money to get the job. It would create a huge uproar. Not to mention half of the colleges in TN filled the GL position by taking 3lakhs. If money is demanded for GL postion which gives the salary of 15k to 20k, imagine the plight would be for Asst. Professors vacancy.

In my case, guest lecturers engaged in colleges for years should be given the first priority in becoming Assistant professors over the candidates of PhD/NET/SLET holders. Because those college guest lecturers are real Professors of Practice. Half of govt. Colleges are actually run by these guest lecturers. Why UGC is not doing anything for them??
You are still not getting my point. I clearly said that years of guest lecturing experience should be given more priority even more than NET/SLET/Phd when it comes to recruiting permanent professors in colleges. In such case, those guest lecturers who neither have NET or PhD, even they are qualified enough for permanent recruitment. Why?? Because having PhD or NET does not guarantee that someone will deliver better services in a college as Assistant Professors, but guest lecturers who were engaged for more than 5 years in a college, they definitely do. Because they know better how to teach at college level and do other college related stuff as they are doing it for years. Look around your surroundings, and you will realise it too!
Hello Ma'am.... I just have one request with regard to the filling up of the forms for NET exams. While filling up the form, there's an option for Only Asst. Prof/Asst. Prof and JRF. My concern is that there's a lot of people appearing their exam after clearing their Only Asst Prof criteria.... And as such when these people clear NET again and not JRF. The chance of those who haven't cleared their NET gets low. Do you think it's wise to suggest the UGC to create ONLY JRF option for the candidates who have already cleared their Asst Prof exams?

What do you mean by Delhi University main campus ? I do not understand. DU is a collegiate university with a number of colleges. I don't think that the concept of "uni campus" and "affiliated colleges" that you are referring to here is applicable to DU.

Actually no that's not how it works.. In delhi university , the Colleges only have undergraduate courses and the departments in University deals with masters and research programs...So basically if anyone wants to pursue ba hons, there are various colleges But for MA and research one has to study from University department.

When abundant of P.hd and net candidates are available then universities and colleges don’t care about minimum eligibility criteria
They only recruit Phd and net

It wasn't mandatory. A simple MSc is enough. These are just guidelines. Even if the university will shortlist your application, i doubt people without NET and PhD stand much chance.
NET existed even in early 80s I qualified CSIR NET in the year 1983.

You have to prepare for net and qualified it, then only you are eligible for assistant professor in college.

What is the need of phd then....? Net should not be mandate for assistant professor... Many students qualify phd entrance and GATE rather than NET... So is phd entrance Or GATE not sufficient for assistant professor....
Recently in DU colleges, i found 150 Ph.D. students against one post, the RSS candidate was selected for this. To join ABVP ot RSS is more important degree than Ph.D. degree.
The most important criteria to become a professor in college or university is political party ka jhanda....

Mam, I am from Tamilnadu. I have cleared SLET Law. In TN, they conduct exam for direct recruitment of Assistant Professors in Govt. Law colleges through TRB once in 4 years.Will these exams happen now after this announcement?
TRB will conduct the exam, otherwise there would be no transparency. Guest Lecturers in TN know the ins & outs of the college. If govt gives a green light to the college management, GLs would immediately pay lakhs of money to get the job. It would create a huge uproar. Not to mention half of the colleges in TN filled the GL position by taking 3lakhs. If money is demanded for GL postion which gives the salary of 15k to 20k, imagine the plight would be for Asst. Professors vacancy.
I heard SET Exams are tougher than others. First of all 👏 on clearing it. It gives motivation for others too.

In my case, guest lecturers engaged in colleges for years should be given the first priority in becoming Assistant professors over the candidates of PhD/NET/SLET holders. Because those college guest lecturers are real Professors of Practice. Half of govt. Colleges are actually run by these guest lecturers. Why UGC is not doing anything for them??

You are still not getting my point. I clearly said that years of guest lecturing experience should be given more priority even more than NET/SLET/Phd when it comes to recruiting permanent professors in colleges.
In such case, those guest lecturers who neither have NET or PhD, even they are qualified enough for permanent recruitment.
Why??
Because having PhD or NET does not guarantee that someone will deliver better services in a college as Assistant Professors, but guest lecturers who were engaged for more than 5 years in a college, they definitely do. Because they know better how to teach at college level and do other college related stuff as they are doing it for years.
Look around your surroundings, and you will realise it too!
Hello Ma'am.... I just have one request with regard to the filling up of the forms for NET exams. While filling up the form, there's an option for Only Asst. Prof/Asst. Prof and JRF.
My concern is that there's a lot of people appearing their exam after clearing their Only Asst Prof criteria.... And as such when these people clear NET again and not JRF. The chance of those who haven't cleared their NET gets low. Do you think it's wise to suggest the UGC to create ONLY JRF option for the candidates who have already cleared their Asst Prof exams?

What do you mean by Delhi University main campus ? I do not understand. DU is a collegiate university with a number of colleges. I don't think that the concept of "uni campus" and "affiliated colleges" that you are referring to here is applicable to DU.
Mam I passed NET am not getting any job oprtunity bcz PhD compulsary even private college also expect PhD in college level technically speaking for teaching u need net than PhD for asist prof my life is getting ruine for whom shuld we complain plz rise this serious issue to correct person plz make all india net group we can file a pition it's very difficult us to get job despite hard study we r not getting job plz help us

Actually no that's not how it works..
In delhi university , the Colleges only have undergraduate courses and the departments in University deals with masters and research programs...So basically if anyone wants to pursue ba hons, there are various colleges
But for MA and research one has to study from University department.
Why geography MA in du have very less seats but not with other subjects?
